Location is the selling point. It’s literally 1-2 min walk to the town centre! When you r hungry at night, you can walk across to the KFC or Maccas for supper. Bus to airport is right behind! It’s also about 10mins walk to the gondola station or Tiki trail base. Also 10mins walk to the Hill Time trail and 10mins walk to the largest FreshChoice supermarket. If you r lazy, 4Square supermarket is just 2 mins walk away

The bedside lamp in our rooms are not working and heard they are not working in all rooms. Not a big deal as we tend to use the torchlight of our phone and the power socket for each bed is handy. The house is typically wood-based and it means noise from people walking above and even toilet flushing is quite obvious at night. Being close to the town, especially the bar and restaurants means it can be a bit noisy on weekends or nights

My friend and I had a delightful stay at Haka House Queenstown. The room was impeccably clean, and the bathroom felt like our own private space—well-maintained and convenient. We appreciated the parking right out front for just $15 per night, which was both affordable and hassle-free. The location was unbeatable—quiet yet close to everything Queenstown has to offer.

One downside was the hostel's social atmosphere. Most guests seemed absorbed in their phones in the lounges, which made it a bit challenging to meet people. However, this might be more of a reflection of current travel habits than the hostel's fault.

Stayed here in August for the snow. Bed was comfy with 2x plugs and the storage boxes underneath - a great idea, wish more hostels were like this. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Did not use the facilities much but seemed fine. Showers had good water pressure and heat.

No issues just observations - The heater was cranked up high so was sweating buckets in the top bunk - didn't realise guests could adjust it oops. Construction going on outside but no issues at night/had minimal onsite parking if prebooked.

location was great, off the main area so it's more quiet but right beside everything. walking distance lounge area was chill kitchen was big bookings only shows that there is one washroom area but there are MULTIPLE private washrooms which i did not expect. lovely surprise staff were extremely friendly and helpful this is a quiet and less social hostel if you're looking for that. good place to settle in if you're trying to see nature in QT

i had a situation within my room but the staff handled it professionally the rooms have a musty/body odour smell even if you open the windows the kitchen didn't always have the cloths to dry kitchen stuff and i wasn't a fan of the spray bottle as a soap but i understand that it's a hostel so people waste soap a lot

The location was fantastic. It was literally one street behing Stanley Street, the main bus thoroughfare/interchange station for buses going to and from the airport. The hostel itself was really friendly. It attracted a nice crowd. The room was small for the amount of the people but they were very accommodating. I have a CPAP and made a special request to be away from people so as not to disturb them. They put me in a bottom bunk next to a power point so I would be able to plug it in, as well as all my other devices. The beds had privacy screens that you could draw closed so no-one else in there really knew I had that CPAP. The bed itself was not the most comfortable, but it wasn't the worst I've ever slept on. I've travelled a lot and compared to even my most recent trip to a 4 star hotel in Thailand, that bed was heaven in comparison. It wasn't the biggest for someone who needed more room for a CPAP, but then again, I'm staying in a hostel - what did I expect!? It was fine for what I needed it for - somewhere to rest, somewhere to have a shower, somewhere to eat breakfast.

The cleanliness of the room wasn't fantastic at times. For example, in the crevice between my bed and the wall, there were chip packets, crumbs etc that had just been left there who were gross enough to eat on their bed and chuck their rubbish down the side. I pointed it out to the receptionists who then gave me the rubbish grabber tool to remove the rubbish myself. I did, because it was disguisting to look at once I knew it was there, but perhaps the hostel staff should have cleaned it before I arrived.

I like the hostel location and design. In the kitchen, you can make your food and go out and eat in the balcony with really nice view of the scenery. It's near the city center so it's easy to go anywhere. I met nice high school kids and very nice Chinese friends to talk with. It was a friendly space.

Some shower room doesn't have either body wash or shampoo.

Location is perfect at the city centre, walking distance to the main street. Will look forward to stay with Haka house whenever I visit Queenstown.

Car parking was bit stressful for us, however due to limited space available with Haka house they did offer car parking with additional cost. It would have been great if car parking would have been complimentary for all guests.

it have a really good location and easy to reach, near shops and cafes. The room is spacious and gets plenty of light. we also enjoy the balconies in front of our room and kitchen to get some fresh air. The bathroom also clean and large, conveniently located near the room so the shared bathroom is still easy to use and give freedom to use.

As we get a room below the stair and near the common room and kitchen, we have to bear with the noise. However, when it near midnight, the noise is decreasing, and we can still get undisturbed sleep after 11 p.m.

Loved that it was a good size and close to town!

There was a screw sticking out of the desk that one of us cut our foot on. Also one of the beds kept on breaking, it was an easy fix however just when sitting on the bed the slats would pop out

We are an older couple, husband with an ankle injury so being close to town was important. The apartment was great it ticked all the boxes. We were able to eat in with the kitchen. We had our own bathroom facilities. The apartment was as clean as an older building can be. Bed was good if not a little small for two. The heating was good in both lounge and bedroom. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Very close/convenient to the number one bus travelling to the airport.

The roading construction outside the building made walking a little hazardous and being able to find the road to to Haka lodge was a bit of a lolly scramble. The early morning wake up call from the graders not what one would wish for on vacation. The general feel of the place is that it really needs a bit of a paint especially in the apartment bathroom. Disappointed to see the washing machine wasn’t working. We had a fire alarm at 5am one morning. Not sure if anyone knew what was happening. Didn’t seem to be any plan of action should there have been a actual fire. Value for money.. Not sure.
