Close to town great view of lake and restaurant

The Lakefront Lodge is easy to find with GPS navigation and well-signed corner location. At the front desk, Patricia greeted me very warmly upon my arrival and we chatted about various interesting things. She very graciously expedited a quick laundry service after i'd been on the road for some days with my rental car. The Lodge features a unique interior V-shaped courtyard that feels very intimate and friendly, with tables & chairs for chatting and a hot-tub and small bathing pool. My ground-floor room #27 was small but fine for a solo traveler, with a comfy large bed and useful wall-mounted small lamps. The two-tone paint color on the walls was very attractive. I really appreciated the extra-long bathtub, which allowed me to fully stretch out my legs for a good hot soak after many days of hiking and walking. The location is predictably excellent (as the name implies), just across the street from Lake Taupo, so you can easily get to the wide promenade or beach at lake-shore. And charming downtown Taupo is just a very short drive away. And for convenience, there's a restaurant right on the premises.

Spa didn’t seem clean

The room was charmingly old-fashioned, with a wonderful view, and was very comfortable. The staff, including the canine staff member, were friendly and helpful. Generally, I was very happy with what was provided.

The only way of washing and drying cups was in the handbasin, using the hand towel. Even a tea towel would have been an improvement. Granted it was peak season, but I paid far more for this place, exclusive of meals, than I had paid for a higher-market facility, inclusive of meals. For what was provided, it was an expensive single night.

The location was excellent, right across the road from Lake Taupo. The bathroom was very serviceable and had a bathtub, which was great, and an excellent exhaust fan. The out-of-hours door was close to my room, which was convenient for entry to the building.

My room was "lakeview" but on the side of the building, so the lake was only viewable when right up against the window. It was quite warm weather and the room did not have air conditioning, only a small desk fan. The window did not have fly screens and opened a long way when open, there was also no sheer curtain, so people on the street would have been able to see me through the open window. I was not sure about the cleanliness of the kettle in my room. There are a lot of stairs in this building, there is one lift, but it was hard to find and very far from my room.

Enjoyed the dinner at the restaurant and access to a pool and spa. Liked the lodge feel of the hotel and its central location

Concerned about the safety. When we went to leave early 7:00am the doors from the passage way down to the reception area were locked. Whilst the back way entrance down via the pool may have been open, that as a fire exit option is less clear and more complicated, at least from the room in which we were staying. Not comforting to know that entrance ways are blocked

the pool, we asked if we could use the pool as it was covered and we were told to roll up the cover ourselves this was difficult to do as the roller unit came apart, When we did we found that the pool had had rocks and stones thrown into it. I understand that it was winter but my son loves to swim no matter the weather and this was not a great experience

Friendly staff, check in every easy and booking easier. Rooms spacious and clean, all the usual accessories included. Cute pool and spa area although did not use due to short stay.

The beds are super hard and uncomfortable. Too Much noise from the rooms above with super creaky floorboards keeping me awake at 3am. Place needs soundproofing! Weird narrow passage way leading into the room which made carrying bulky cases really difficult

Absolutely loved the feel of the lodge on arrival. The staff were lovely and friendly. Always polite and helpful. Lovely enough to remind us we had booked the bunk room (which was planned) 😂 The room was comfortable, clean and had good space for the size. Very handy there was a little fridge in there. Good pressure shower. Location was a 10/10. Half way between the landing and the city. We walked to and from the town center. Right across the road from the water front with stunning views. The restaurant upstairs was yummy, clean and had quick service. The outside area was clean and well laid out. We will definitely be returning. I look forward to showing this place off.

The bunk beds were extremely squeaky. One little movement and the whole lodge heard us moving around. The windows could do with some privacy curtains or window tints to add a bit of privacy to the room. The WiFi didn't work in our room. Which is surprising as our room was right beside reception. It didn't bother us and we were not in our room much.

Loved how the pool was enclosed and felt safe for my kids. My sons bank cards fell out of his bag and were left behind, appreciated that staff contacted me to let me know and have agreed to post them to me once they receive a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Having to request a microwave, although there were no issues when I requested one and it was quickly delivered to the room.
