The staff are absolutely welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms, though compact, are clean and tidy. The bathroom is especially clean. You should look at the showers - spotless! I basically walked wherever I needed to because the location is just so good.

There was a slight odour in the room which I thought was just me being difficult. I actually think it's the detergent used on the towels. It's really not a bad smell but also not great. I could not cast my Netflix onto the TV for the longest time but it eventually worked. Unfortunately, the connection process was tedious and had to be done every time I left the TV idle for too long or went out of the room.

Absolutely everything! The complimentary early check in was such a kind surprise after arriving early and tired from the rain. The room was super clean, daily room service was great, and the location was perfect for getting around Welly. Staff were lovely, especially Trisha at reception, who made me feel so welcome. I also felt safe and comfortable travelling alone thanks to their 24 hour reception and friendly vibe. Totally worth the price!

Would’ve been nice to have a laundry area on Level 9, but honestly not a big deal at all. The one on Level 8 was super easy to access and worked just fine.

Room had privacy blinds to let in light while also blocking the view. The room was clean and had good little touches, coffee, milk, cookies, shower cap, etc. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking requirements. The heatpump was awesome, kept my room warm all day. The building was safe and quiet at night. The reception staff were awesome, super helpful, and accommodating.

I couldn't get the chromecast to work for the tv (not the end of the world). Shower pressure is a little weak. They did end up cleaning the room next to mine early in the morning, not great for those wanting to sleep in.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We arrived very late, so it was good that it was possible to check in late at night. The room and bathroom was spacious and clean. Soundproofing towards the street was perfect, no noise came in from the outside. The room was full of light frim the huge windows. Fresh towels were provided daily, and there was milk for us in the fridge. The welcome chockolate was a nice touch. The location was perfect too to explore the city and the surrounding area.

Only downward was that the windows were sealed, so the aircon was the only possibility to refresh the air in the room.

I was looking for a home base to stay, somewhere central but quiet and with a kitchenette to save on eating out every meal over a 5 night stay. Sojourn was perfect - best of both worlds between an Airbnb and a normal hotel, with 24/7 front desk and daily room cleaning like a hotel but apartment style rooms with kitchen like an Airbnb - and for a very reasonable price. I was warned at checkin that I had booked the smallest room type, but this was absolutely no problem. Other than having no table to eat at (a bit odd, as there is a kitchen!) it was 100% fine even for a longer stay. Comfy and spotlessly clean, ideal location in walking distance of key attractions and transit, easy checkin and they even include a pass for free access to a nearby fitness club which has a lap pool and sauna plus gym. Would 100% stay here again for any future stays. Bonus: stayed on top floor and had great city views!

Odd to have a kitchen but no table to eat at. There was space for a small folding table!

What was great about this stay: This hotel had a terrific room. There was an excellent kitchenette fully equipped with micro, fridge, 2 burner stove top and all the pots/pans needed for actually cooking. We were able to make ourselves breakfast everyday (proper eggs breakfast) and even have lunch in the room most days as well - this was a great money saver and helped us having options and flexibility. The hotel was a step away from Cuba St with a bunch of cute shops and restaurants to check out, as well as a short walk away from the waterfront and Te Papa museum (which we highly recommend as well).

What was not so great about this stay: The biggest drawback to this stay was there wasn't really any storage space in the room for us to put our suitcases and large bags. The bathroom was very snug, which might not be an issue depending on the couple.

The continental breakfast was top notch. I was absolutely blown away by the exceptional service of the staff - never before have I experienced an automated, personalized greeting upon entering the room! Also really appreciated the complimentary access of the nearby Habit Health fitness center. The location was also handy to nearby cafes and restaurants on Cuba St.

Could not quite figure out how to operate the Chromecast technology. I am not sure whether additional companion hardware is required to assist my device to enable this operation (I was using a rather dated Samsung A04 phone, however, I did not try it with my other later-model phone which I did not bring with me). I think I've since figured it out (one week later), however, after reading the article at https://www.lifewire.com/connect-chromecast-to-mobile-hotspot-5221228

Good central location close to shopping area, places to eat and concert hall; very well equipped kitchen with a good coffee pod machine and good supply of coffee pods and other hot drinks including non-caffeinated options.

The heating/cooling mode of the air-con unit is locked and cannot be adjusted by the guest themself. Eg on a warm day, if the room somehow still feels too cold for you, you could only turn up the temp so that the air con stops blowing out cold air but you can’t make it generate heat to heat up the room even just for a moment. Also, there is no washing machine inside the apartment; instead, there is a shared laundry on the floor.

Everything. The staff were fantastic. There was an issue with flooding downstairs which they apologised for even though it didn't affect the floor we were on, it was great they shared that information with us. However, we noticed the water was brownish, I let it run for a while while I called the front desk to ask if it was usually like that, they replied No, then brought up two 1L bottles of water, however by the time they got to our room the water ran clear again. We appreciate their concerns.

I booked with booking.com for the one rate and charged another when we arrived. Have since sent the hotel a letter querying this. And that the wifi was weak.

We enjoyed excellent service from Sojourn’s friendly and professional staff. They were able to accomodate us with a slightly earlier check in and portacot set up so our toddler could have a nap as soon as we arrived. The place was sparkling clean and very well fitted with plenty of amenities. Loved our stay! Thank you!

Just a thought, perhaps a small bottle of cooking oil could be helpful for those using the cooking facilities. It was also a bit tricky to get up the stairs with a pram, I only realised as we were leaving that there’s a sign for a separate accessible entrance (but didn’t see it).
