The hotel is perfectly located, on the edge of the hotel zone with a stroll downhill into the centre of Funchal. Taxis are plentiful of you prefer not to walk. The hotel itself is beautiful, like walking round a compact village with lots of lush plants and trees. There are two outdoor pools, both a good size and not too deep which is handy for children, and an indoor pool. We were always about to get sunbeds outside. There are a couple of bars though they don’t tend to get busy so sometimes you have to track down a staff member to serve you. 0.5l Coral beers are very reasonable during Happy Hour (5.30-6.30) at €2.50! There was also table tennis, which our kids really enjoyed. The staff were all absolutely lovely and the was a daily turndown service for the rooms. We stayed Half Board and the evening menu changed daily with themes such as ‘Vegetarian Flavours’, ‘Italian’, and ‘Madeiran’ (the latter was our favourite). Lots of options including a really comprehensive salad bar and an excellent lemon cheesecake (served once in the ten days we stayed though!). Breakfast was similar - plenty to choose from each day, including hot food, cereal, bread and cheese, fruit, and pasties.

The evening food didn’t have many traditionally ‘child friendly ’options so it took ours a day or two to get into it. The puddings were quite repetitive and mostly mousse/custard based. There are some a la carte restaurants but they were mostly booked up when we arrived and some were a 30 min walk away so we didn’t bother.

Comfortable room, lovely pools, nice food and entertainment (I loved the folklore dancers), polite staff, car parks available, good location. No nonsense with reserved sun loungers by the pool in the mornings. You could always find some available and the staff would come and adjust the umbrella for you.

They charged extra for water at dinner - we paid for breakfast and dinner option, so such a basic thing as water should have been included.

The staff were amazing. Our son is unable to have dairy so we asked the reception to provide soya milk and margarine, this was available for us the next day. Really accommodating. One gripe was that the kids club was not open. This really should be advertised when/ if open prior to booking. Other than that, an excellent hotel and even better staff.

Fantastic pools to swim, outdoor and indoor, also spa, jacuzzis, sauna, steam. Very good location, relatively close to city center. Very quiet, no road traffic noise - this is very rare in Funchal! Nice restaurants with various food options. VEry friendly reception and staff - they allowed us to stay in the pool and spa even after checkout, on the last day! Beautiful garden, plans, palm trees, and grass - nice sunbeds around the two pools. Very relaxing place. Strongly recommended!

We did not like that we have to pay for all the drinks at the prepaid buffet dinner, even for some water (5 EUR!). It would have been cheaper to eat out elsewhere (there are quite a few restaurants within 100 meters!) and even opt in for the dinner at the hotel on the spot would be the same price. Thus, prepaid half board is not necessarily a good idea - not even mentioning over-eating ourselves at the nice buffet... :) but the food was excellent, no question about it.

Our flight is been cancelled so I booked a room at the very last minute, when we arrive at the hotel for the check in Fabio at the reception was super helpful, we had problem for the reservation online, and he looked after our booking and make sure that everything was sorted and gave us a room. That was really professional and great customer service. He suggested great places to go and super locals spots, I work in the industry and I can recognise when someone is so good in is job. I think he deserve a promotion! I'm travelling a lot and I never met anyone so passionate about is job and so well prepared, to be fair we like the hotel because of him as well, yes the stay was great but sometimes people make the difference. We hope to come back again, in the beautiful island of Madeira. Once again, thanks so much to Fabio!

Great established beautiful hotel and location. Choice of pools. Jacuzzi. Sauna. Massage. Indoor pool. Great food and staff. Spotlessly clean. Great location in funchal. Beautiful gardens.

No tea or coffee or water provided complimentary in room. No shaving mirror in bathroom tricky sorting contacts in eyes a doing make up. Phone by bed didnt work.

The hotel had a really nice feel to it - the staff really wanted you to enjoy your stay and were very friendly and helpful, and it felt upmarket without being posh which was perfect for us. The restaurant was laid-back and the food was really good too. The rooms were comfortable and well-equipped although we were a little sad to not have a view as we were on the ground floor! The hotel had lots of facilities such as gym, sauna etc and evening entertainment. The location was great as it was only a 20 minute leisurely walk into Funchal. Rooms were very clean.

The breakfast was a little limited - I would have preferred to have more fresh fruit and healthier options. I think in general you would struggle as a vegetarian with the evening meals.

A very well designed hotel with beautiful spaces and swimming pools to relax. The food carefully prepared and delicious. Enjoyed every minute of our 1 week stay.

Our bedroom was very comfortable with a balcony and view of the mountains. The bathroom had some wear and tare, but overall satisfactory

The hotel was amazing. It was really clean and the rooms were cleaned every day. Additionally the breakfast had plenty of options. If you have dinner included you have the opportunity to try the 4 a la carte restaurants. A hotel with plenty of options and things to do , close to the city center and next to all transportation. All the staff was really helpful and friendly. For sure I will come back again!

The hotel is in a great location on the edge of the “hotel zone” within a 15 minute walk to the centre of Funchal (note it’s a steep uphill walk back!) and 10 minutes the other way to the Lido area. The pool areas were lovely and not overcrowded (the connecting Pestana Village hotel pool was my preferred of the two). Our room was large with a separate living/kitchenette area and balcony overlooking the pool and terrace; the room was a little dated, but everything was very clean and tidy. The staff in all areas of the hotel (restaurant, reception, housekeeping) were extremely friendly and helpful at all times.

The air conditioning wasn’t working in our room, rather the ventilation system was pushing through outside temperature air - not great in 30 degrees! Our bathroom also flooded on our last night, however the staff were extremely helpful and reacted very quickly to sort it out.
