The suite was amazing, a huge open main room, two bedrooms, one with en-suite with views to the garden. Separate loo and shower for the second bedroom. Fully equipped kitchen and beautifully clean. Room service every day. Garden with sun loungers and parasol completed the facilities. Staff at reception very efficient and a quick early check-in. Excellent resturaunt 2 minutes away and the No. 28 tram ( access for 3.10€ connecting to the main square after 7 stops), passed within 50cms of the front door (!!!) with a stop 2 minutes away. Certainly a very strange experience to squeeze up against the wall to let the tram trundle by your feet.

A pity that it took some finding. No. 38 Escolas does not actually exsist- there is 35, 37, and 39. Asking in the Taverna we were directed to an unmarked door where we found reception. They, then after registration, took us back to the apartment. Not a problem but be aware. The apartment is accessed by 5 flights of straight stairs and no handrail - a problem for my wife who walks with a stick. Access was possible but slow. Just be aware if you have a handicap.

The perfect location in the heart of alfama, very friendly and helpful staff. Everything is clean, quite spacious, very comfortable mattress and pillows.

A few minuses, which have not affected my positive impression, but might be significant for someone. 1. The perfect location is just above the legendary 28 tram. On the one hand- great impression, but too loud for those who have sensitive sleep. Make sure you take the ear plugs. Might be helpful 2. A bit dark. Though 2 large windows in the room, still not enough light. Both with the daylight and in the evenings with all the lamps switched on 3. The biggest problem for me was the shower. No hand shower, only the one with the water running on your head.

Right in the centre of Alfama, the basic double room was large, the bed was very comfortable, the temperature of the room was perfect and it was clean! On the 1st floor there is a lovely foyer with an open roof. Also just next to the hotel there is a cafe called Copenhagen coffee lab with amazing coffee and the best cinnamon rolls ever!

Our room was not the one on the picture, it was a bit dark and there was no access to the garden. The description does not explain this very well and we thought that there will be a common garden but as we found out, this is only available for the apartments with garden.

This hotel is located in an excellent place with the old style tram going along the road immediately outside, with a stop just down the road. There are lots of great restaurants close by and the neighbourhood is very beautiful. The staff were very friendly, and the room was nice and clean.

The bed was a little hard, but still comfortable. Keep in mind that you will hear the tram drive by every 10-15 minutes - not something that kept us awake, but it is noticeable. It is also on the more pricey side for a hotel room that only has the basic amenities.

The room was spacious with a bedroom and a loft area that functioned as another bedroom and “walled” off by nice warm lights. It was cozy and the beds were comfortable. We faced the garden, which was also very peaceful. The wifi worked very well. It was right in the heart of Alfama and was easy to get to, even though the famed 28E tram was under construction and didn’t cross right in front of the hotel while we were there (the temporary bus stop was only a 5 minutes walk at Graça). It may have made it extra quiet which was very welcomed after walking through bustling parts of the city. Housekeeping came and cleaned the room, reset the beds, and provided new towels everyday. The room felt fresh and clean. The a/c worked well, though it was a bit on the loud side. Lastly there was a coffeeshop just next door.

We were on the ground level and the staff seemed to tidy up the kitchen/loft area every night between midnight and 1am and it was quite loud. I brought earplugs so it was manageable. The shower also drained very slow - I mentioned it to the staff and they said they would pass it onto housekeeping but it did not get fixed while we were there.

The hotel is very well located in the Alfama neighborhood, just a 15-minute walk from the city center. The room was large and spacious, and the iconic tram passes right beneath the window — you can even hear it coming! :) Even though it's in the narrow streets of the neighborhood, the taxi drops you off right at the door, super convenient!

I liked everything. The street is lively and touristy, so there was some noise in the evening — but if you spend your day walking around Lisbon, you'll sleep like a baby anyway.

The staff were very kind and helpful. Room was very spacious and clean. However, breakfast had to be arranged 24 hours prior to so if your planner you might like that feature.

Most of my activities were in downtown of Lisbon. Therefore, there are no night activities in Alfama area. Very quiet and dark at night. If your solo traveler like myself, I would not recommend this area.

Lovely apartment. Well equipped, though there was no coffee when we arrived. Big bath with really hot water. The location is brilliant and beautiful. Bakery next door and the wooden trams stop right outside. Highly recommend the outside was the picture on the front of our guide book. Staff were amazing.

Our room was surprisingly spacious - there was plenty of room to spread out our suitcases, etc. without tripping over it. I also appreciate how much storage/towel hooks there were in the bathroom. We arrived a couple of hours before check-in, so we appreciated being able to store our luggage while we had lunch and explored the surrounding area. The hotel was in a prime location for exploring Alfama on foot and really helped us get a feel for Lisbon.

Only real downside of the location was the street noise - the tram that runs beside the hotel is pretty loud and shakes the building. However, it's a pretty unique situation and we were tired enough from traveling that we were still able to sleep fairly well.

Location was fantastic. Walking distance - though very hilly as to be expected - to everything. Not as ‘interactive’ a reception as you would get at a standard hotel but 24hr reception was great and they were helpful with any questions we had. Fantastic brunch place just across the road .. wish we were there more than 3 nights to have visited more often!

Our apartment had the top floor angled roof through the middle of it so made navigating around the bed a bit difficult. I was staying with my adult daughter and neither of us particularly tall, but if staying with my husband it would definitely have been an issue and would have needed to change rooms. Also, trams right outside window and while we weren’t phased by the noise I was a little disappointed that the balcony view was not how it was portrayed in pictures as the balcony is strangely higher than the windows and really only for fresh air rather than the view of the tram as I had hoped.
