Good location, room size and cleanliness. Fair price and super friendly staff.

The shower box is a little tight. If you are a big person, maybe you can have some difficulty to move inside it. And breakfast could be better for the €10 charge.

Location was great. 4mins walk to San Bento station and next to Aliados Metro station. Reception staff exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Modern bathroom with good shower, toilet, sink and hairdryer. Housekeeping very good, rooms cleaned and restocked daily.

Our double bedroom was smaller than any hotel room we have previously stayed in. As the building was quite old we did have some creaking floorboards in our room. Whilst this didn’t worry us, we were concerned it might of disturbed other guests below. The continental breakfast had a good range of food and drink, although a few hard boiled eggs would have been a good addition to the cheese and hams some days.

The property it is vey well located, within walking distance from to the many historical sites. Although a very old building, we had, what appeared to be a recently renovated room on the 5th floor with a balcony overlooking city hall with a nice view. The A/C worked great, the bathroom was clean with a great shower. The only weakness of the room was the bed, was very small, altho ugh I requested a queen side bed we got a full-size at best. All and all a very good value.

The only thing we didn’t like was the bed other than that it was very pleasant.

The staff are ALL awesome, from Catarina the knowledgeable, helpful and friendly day desk clerk, to the housekeeper (sorry we didn't get her name) who helped us down the stairs with luggage. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Our room in the cupola (602) was tiny and eccentric, but clean and modern, with an awesome view of the central plaza. The only downsides were the cramped space -- to be able to live out of our two roll-aboard suitcases; and the requirement to walk up one flight of stairs, but we were only there two nights. Located very close to the beautifully tiled, historic Sao Bento railway station, there was also frequent bus service to Campanha station nearby the hotel too.

All the construction near Sao Bento station made the short walk to the hotel more confusing than it would have been. Apple Maps walking directions didn't take any of the sidewalk closures into account. (June 2023)

The staff was very friendly and always helpful beyond expectations.

The bathroom was really small and some furnitures needs to be replaced or maintenance.

Absolutely great location. The service was extremly nice, I was really impressed. Our room had a modern large bathroom, the room was facing the courtyard, but it was very quiet even though the hotel was on a busy street. Breakfest OK

Unfortunately the level of cleanliness. You can see that someone cleans rooms every day, but not very thoroughly and there are places used by hotel guests that are very dirty. The glory days of the hotel are long gone. It looks better in the pictures than in real life. The breakfast could use some vegetables, but it was ok. (not so much for vegan)

The Suite room on the 5th floor was quite. (room 507) The hotel is an ancient building but this represents the historical background (majestic waiting room). The location of the hotel was great, close to all major attractive points. You need of course to walk about 15min downwards to reach the river Douro banks, but this is a nice walk through the ancient small streets. The staff at reception was very helpful and friendly.

The suite 507 is outdated (would not call it a suite, rather a room with an extra one) but clean! I missed a small refrigerator to keep drinks cold overnight! Breakfast is ok, but not really special. A pity there are giant construction works on the main square, (underground metro works) but we did not have noice overload as we were out during the day.

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat, it is very centrally located. The hotel is older with smaller rooms, but clean and comfortable and charming. We had a problem with water leaking in our bathroom on our last night, the staff immediately got us in a different room for the night and were very helpful in ensuring we were compensated for our inconvenience.

The room was small. The breakfast was just ok, wish it had a few more options or variety.

The hotel was a vintage property with 90 years of history which gave it a lot of appeal and character. It was centrally located in the historical center of town and within an easy walking distance of most of the major sights. All of the staff were friendly and made you feel very welcome.

Windows could not be opened and the air in the room at times was stale.

The building is historic and very cool. The location is perfect and an easy walk to all the places you want to go and see. Plenty of food nearby. Walking to the train station is easy. The Douro river is a little further of a walk but incredible things to see during the entire walk so it's a great walk.

The much of central old town area is torn up for the construction of a subway line in October 2022. The room was smaller than the pictures make it look but this is to be expected anymore.
