The setting is absolutely unbelievable up high on the mountain ridge, nestled within the surrounding peacock crying forests. Sun rises on the front of the hotel as the moon sets over the mountain in the back… that was so amazing to see both like that at about 5.30 in the morning. The food was awesome and the staff were the most friendly and accomodating.. They even grow there own veggies and fruit..fresh. Ask to be taken to the temple just up the road 10 minute walk… set into a large rock, old rock paintings and beautiful waterfall.. the most accomodating and friendly staff by far during our visit.. thank you so much for taking us to that special place, and thank you for looking after us and our driver!!!!!

About 15 minutes later from Ella.. maybe a negative for my one of my family members… but for most of us, we were enjoying the absolutely stunning setting of the mountain, the surrounding waterfalls and that clean fresh air. You want to experience the true Ella, high up in the clouds, without all the tourist buses.. this is where you go.

The food was delicious. When we made the booking, we were not sure about the quality of food at the hotel and we had planned to go out for meals. We arrived at MOI in the late afternoon and had our first meal (dinner) there. We were very impressed with the food and decided to have all our meals at MOI. We stayed at MOI for 3 days and had all our meals there which were delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff in the restaurant deserves a huge thanks.

We booked 3 rooms and all the 3 rooms were very clean and met our expectations. Only the showers in 2 rooms had some minor issues, which were rectified and attended to very quickly. The staff at MOI have been fantastic.

The views are phenomenal, the rooms super clean and comfortable and The staff were super friendly, in particular the two gentlemen (Sahiru & and name I e forgotten sadly) who checked us in and helped us organise transport and anything else we needed .

It’s a half an hour journey from Ella via Tuk Tuk which isn’t a huge problem, but something to be aware of. The food menu isn’t that extensive, but it’s good enough and room service is quick

The recepcionists were very kind and nice, they let us know about many nice program alternatives near by, and they have VERY GOOD contacts with taxi drivers and tuktuk drivers. They arrenged for us the airport transfer with Nimesh, who is the absolute best gentleman in whole Sri Lanka. For example, we wanted to try the train ride so he came up with the idea to take our luggages while we are travelling by train, and then pick us up at the train station. It was a brilliant idea, and however it sounds ridiculously luxorious, the price was very friendly, and the experience totally worth it for us. The hotel’s breakfast selection was also satisfying, containing meat, egg, fruit and vegetables too, a little from both western and local cuisin.

There was no daily cleaning, so the towels were also not changed automtically, which is not that bad, just might be good to know for other guests.

Hands down best place I’ve stayed at after travelling to Europe, America, Japan and Sri Lanka. The view is breathtaking and you can go onto the roof for a 360° view. The rooms were spacious with comfy comfy beds, air conditioning and nice bathrooms. The best part was the staff though, particularly the hotel manager Gerry. They were the most accommodating staff I’ve met in my travels. They gave us a free room upgrade, lots of advice about local activities and how we should plan our day depending on weather etc. They also educated us on Sri Lankan culture and sorted us out with an amazing driver called Nemesh that took us all around to local waterfalls, mountains etc who was friendly and spoke great English. I could speak all day about this place. I will be recommending it to all my friends. It is truely the best place I’ve ever stayed and value for money is amazing.

First of all, we liked the people who work in the hotel the most. Everyone is very friendly and it was very great to be in such an atmosphere. Special thanks to the guys at the reception, who tried their best to recommend good places and get to them conveniently. Thank you very much for your advice and help, it was very nice to feel such support in an unfamiliar place. The hotel itself is also wonderful, with incredible views, a cool pool, and always very clean everywhere. The food was also delicious, and the breakfast and the restaurant itself - I definitely recommend this amazing place

no negatives, everything is great

The staff was very friendly and co operative with very great hospitality ( their welcoming is very special , they always great you with a smile , and they care about every customers happiness) . Special thanks to mr.jerry , he is an exceptional, professional team leader , he tried to fix every problem we had during our stay starting from the free room upgrade to the amazing hospitality he had. We had a free upgrade to the family deluxe room with jacuzzi which was the best room in the hotel . The restaurant team is more than amazing and the foods presentation and taste was very good . And of course the infinity pool with the view was beautiful.

The location was 30 mins far by car from the main city of Ella so you need a private car with a driver to be able to go there on daily basis as it's on the top of the mountain. There's a problem in the hotels design as the windows have no privacy at all but Mr . Jerry informed us that they already took an action to solve this issue soon. Something else related to the design of the hotel is that because it's the only light spot on top of the mountain it's the main attraction for almost all insects but Mr . Jerry is taking an action towards that too . And lastly the furniture needs a bit of renovation.

We had a fantastic experience at Moi Ella by DBI. The hotel offers a perfect mix of luxury and comfort, with stylish, well-appointed rooms and attentive service. The modern decor is sleek and welcoming, and the amenities are top-notch. The on-site restaurant serves delicious meals, and the location is ideal for exploring the area. Overall, a great choice for anyone looking for a relaxing, upscale stay. Highly recommended!

The highlight for me was the breathtaking view from the swimming pool — it was absolutely stunning and made for a truly relaxing experience.

The location, for us, was perfect! A short tuktuk ride away from the hustle and bustle of Ella, but a nice quiet sanctuary. The pool area was fantastic, and the staff were so lovely and helpful. They set us up with a wonderful tuktuk driver for the days we needed, a taxi ride to the train station and set us up with a to go meal for the train ride with fruit and sandwiches. At arrival we got tea and some information at their on location dung hut. I would highly recommend and would absolutely stay again.

The hotel was amazing! The people where so lovely and accommodating. Jerry the main man, was so welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed! The view from the pool was so beautiful along with the 360 view from the top of the hotel! We got to explore different local foods and try their famous Belimal tea which was amazing ! Overall we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend!

The only thing would be the location, however if you have a driver and don’t mind the drives into town like we did then it’s not an issue. Saying this if w you where in town you wouldn’t have the amazing Views!
