Excellent staff and customer service. When we arrived, they noticed we had a young baby and changed our room from the ‘forest view’ that we booked which faces the busy and very loud road, to a lake view which is away from the road, much quieter and has a great view. Large and spacious rooms. Excellent location, 5 mins walk from Temple of the Sacred Tooth and 10mins into the city. Breakfast was ok, but the cafe next door which is part of the hotel is excellent.

It has a pool but it’s really quite cold so only used the once. It has little sun and unheated. Shower was often cold yet the taps really hot.

Beautiful, clean and comfortable hotel in a good location easy walk to most attractions. Staff were friendly. Air con was great. Breakfast was perfectly serviceable. Bed was comfy, we had a view of the lake from our room. Kids loved the seperate upstairs mezzanine area where they slept. A quiet oasis from the bustle of the city.

I have a few very minor things to note. The pool was cold and needed the leaves to be scooped out so we didn't bother using it. The lights in the bathroom and kitchen area were very dim, the shower ran out of hot water half way through my shower, it was pretty noisy at night due to the good location so we were woken up each night by horns honking and prayer.

We stayed in the family room—perfect for us, as the kids enjoyed the mezzanine with two single beds and air con. The room overlooked the lake, and we spotted lots of wildlife, including bats—bring binoculars for a better view. Beds were comfy with good space, but the floor was very slippery, so we went barefoot. The kitchenette is poorly lit and very basic—just a fridge, kettle, and small sink with no hot water. The bathroom is also dimly lit, and the tap had weak water flow, though the shower was fine. The bedroom was bright with a large mirror but no full-length one. Noise was manageable, though we used earplugs during New Year fireworks. Kids loved the indoor pool. We didn’t try the breakfast, but overall we had a great stay and would return. Be cautious in Kandy—someone claimed to be from our hotel and led us to an overpriced market stall. Don’t fall for this scam!

The room was spotless. Very close to the tooth relic temple and if you took a stroll around the lake it's also within walking distance to Kandy City Centre mall and the main market street. The staff were extremely courteous and the manager was very helpful with suggestions regarding both Kandy and other places as well. Together they went above and beyond their duties to make sure our daughter's breakfast was per our requirement. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a stay close to the lake and yet nestled in a quiet lane away from the city noise.

Alan the manager and his team were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Ms Manesha one of the reception team was just so helpful supporting us to contact the people we had booked the train to Ella with as the tickets had not arrived at the hotel, Ms Manesha even printed our ticket in colour so the train station would accept them. Also Rangana another of the reception team helped arrange our tuk-tuk to get to the station with our luggage. Breakfast was plentiful and again the team of waiters were on hand to help and make sure we had every thing we needed. The hotel was clean, bed was comfy and the view over the river was beautiful. The pool was a little too cold for us to take a dip in but other than that everything was brilliant.

We stayed at Lake Avenue Hotel Kandy for just one night, but could take full advantage of many attractions this wonderful city offers, because many of the sights are in walking distance from the hotel such as the Tooth Temple “Sri Dalada Maligawa” (don’t miss the Puja Ceremony), the Kandyan dancing show at the red cross assembly hall, Kandy’s artificial lake and the city center of Kandy. Our room was very comfortable and big, the bathroom with hot shower worked out nicely too, the receptionists were very helpful e.g. with tips, organising tickets and always had a smile, the same with the very pleasant parking and security guard in front of the entrance. Just next door, connected to the hotel,” is a coffee shop that prepares good cappuccino. The hotel’s breakfast offers western and sri lankan style dishes besides a good selection of fruits. So, if you want to visit Kandy don’t hesitate to stay at Lake Avenue Hotel Kandy. If we have the opportunity to come to Kandy again, we would definitely stay in this pleasant hotel again.

The staff at Lake Avenue made us extremely welcome and we particularly loved the first floor room with a view over the lake at Kandy. Everyone was very flexible around our travel plans and it was only a short walk to the Temple of the Tooth. The hotel has a small coffee shop, which was a great area to chill out with a coffee or a light lunch. Thoroughly recommended.

Not much really - a little disappointing that the Sri Lankan dishes weren't available in the restaurant one of the nights we stayed, but there were good alternatives! Note that this hotel is not licensed, but again the alternatives were good.

We spent a couple of nights at the Lake Avenue with a trip to Sigiraye in the middle and were lucky enough to be upgraded to a first floor room on our second visit. Really nice comfortable room with a fantastic view of the lake. Staff were lovely, extremely friendly and always helpful. The hotel has a coffee shop, which was great for relaxing with a (soft) drink, having a light lunch or snack. Location is great for visiting the Temple of the Tooth at the bottom of the hill

A boutique style hotel. Perfect location as just a few minutes from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth. Also about 10 min walk into the centre of Kandy. Our room had a nice view over the lake. There was plenty of food available for breakfast. We only ate there one evening and the food was good. Very attentive staff. Kandy isn't a quiet place (if you have travelled around Sri Lanka you will know the car/bus/tuk tuk horns) but you get used to it. We were a family of 4 and stayed in a room which had a double bed and a mezzanine level with 2 single beds. Very quirky and quite modern feel - which we liked. Small swimming pool - which we didn't have time to use.

Everything about this hotel is truly excellent - new, clean and contemporary. As a family of 4 we stayed in a brilliantly designed studio bedroom with kitchen, bathroom, mezzanine and balcony. Lovely linen, comfortable beds and great shower. The breakfast was huge and delicious, and we had a proper Italian coffee from the hotels’ cafe which is connected. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Fantastic value for money. Do not hesitate to stay here!

Its fabulous location (4 minute walk to the lakeside) does mean it is near the bustling road with sounds of city life at times… it didn’t bother us and added to the whole experience of being in a Sri Lankan city.
