The location the price, the staff and the retro decoration

The water in the shower was maximum lukewarm. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be during winter if one wants to have a hot shower. The way the tap opens was the uncomfortable rotating system when you rotate the handle to open the flow of water, but this needed some physical effort. The second lift didn't reach the 4th floor from the lobby or from any floor because of a faulty button. . But it was the first to open every time I call a lift and it was frustrating because I had to call a floor, get out, let that lift go in order to be able to call the lift that actually goes to the 4th floor

It's a stylish hotel, room is small but enough, bathroom is very tiny. Room, bathroom and hotel in total extremely clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent service. The mattress was too firm for me, so they offer extra top, I can sleep more comfortable. Surprised of breakfast: full English, plus extra different type of cheese, salami and ham. Very good 👍 Location is good. All facilities around. The beach 20 min walk. Mind the maintenance work on the beach, so have to walk extra mile. Or 5 min on taxi

No eco conditioner, only ventilator, which is not really helpful. In total very happy 😊

Friendly staff and good location.

This has nothing to do with the staff but more about hotel policy. Many of the hotels we have stayed in this trip are so called "pet friendly". We don't like sharing a breakfast room with a dog, nor do we like the smell of dog when you come out of your room or hear a dog bark. Hotels seem to have turned into a boarding house so people don't have to pay to have their pets looked after when they go on holiday and other travellers have to accept it. Some might say we should stay elsewhere, and to that point, we will be looking for hotels that are people friendly, not pet friendly. Dog owners, don't assume everyone loves your dog. Some people are frightened of or allergic to dogs.

The hotel is located about 6 mins walk from Portsmouth & Southsea station & 20 from the beach/harbour. the hotel is modern with standard Ibis decorating. I was on the 4th floor. The room was a good size & had all I needed. Great blackout curtains & lighting good with several lamps. I ate in the restaurant downstairs & food was good & reasonably priced. You don't have to check out til 12.

Only 1 lift went to the 4th floor but didn't have to wait long for it. The bathroom is a funny shape & not comfortable to manoeuvre. You have to open the bathroom door to step out if the shower to dry & tiny space for the toilet. The shower leaked so floor was soaked after a shower. The tv reception was really poor so couldn't get many channels. but only there for a night. The bedsheets had stains like lipstick at the top.

From the minute I came in the door in my electric wheelchair I was made to feel welcome. As a returning visitor and to be remembered for that and to be given the lovely room i was in on my last visit was fantastic. I had a breakfast it was very well cooked and tasty set me up for the day and because I couldnt manage to serve myself a kind member of staff got what I wanted and brought it over to me. I loved how bright and airing and welcoming the space is when you come out the lift. I loved that the bed in my room was the same height as my chair so made it so easy for me to transfer and the same in the bathroom I was able to use the sink no issues and transfer onto the toilet and shower bench with no issues. The shower was very easy to use and was warm as I wanted it there was a lovely variety of drinks on the drinks tray which was lovely to have a choice of different coffees and teas. I appreciated how easy it was to get and out the lift. I loved the decor throughout the whole building so clean and comfortable and inviting. For me the firm mattress was perfect because it provided me with the support my weak legs needed. And the duvet was comfortable and warm. I hadnt for personal reasons slept for 5 days I got a good 7 hours sleep and after my cooked breakfast and morning shower I was very refreshed. And the lovely young lady on the desk provided me with a map to get the travel interchange I was able to get there and found I could enjoy my visit to the city a little longer and I am looking forward to my next book stay in october when doing the great south run.

I realise I booked the room with 2 hours notice on booking.com but i dont think it's fairto charge me £168 for the room and breakfast when a chap down the hall from me while waiting for the lift said he couldnt believe he walked in the door and got a room with breakfast for £130. I felt like I was being robbed and especially after this is the second review I'm leaving and other than this one issue I have no complaints and again passed the details on to friends of mine who are also disabled travellers so they have somewhere they know that they can go to.

I had booked two VIP tickets, at the Guildhall to see Brit Floyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band. I booked two rooms, one for me, and one for, some might say very strange, my companion, my ex. We were divorced about 40 years ago. The show was absolutely fantastic and only 6 minutes walk away.. No negatives about the hotel at all. All the staff we met were very professional, but also smiley and down to earth. The rooms, although small, were very comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying there if you are going to see any type of show at the Guildhall. The buffet breakfast had a very good choice of hot, or cold, items and were all delicious. To be honest, the coffee was a bit bland, so I would encourage the kitchen manager to make some enquiries regarding what beans etc, that the Guildhall use, because that was an exceptional cup of coffee. However, that tiny gripe would not stop me from staying at Ibis Portsmouth, at any time in the future. You are doing a great job, guys 😁👍

The location was great for visiting most of the places of interest in Portsmouth. We were visiting the Historic Dockyard and Gunwarf Quays, however, Southsea was not very far away. There are plenty of restaurants and the Guildhall and square a few minutes away. The room was comfortable and bathroom adequate and the shower was lovely.

Sadly other guests are the one thing that spoil a stay in any hotel. They come back in the early hours, shouting and laughing and then are rather noisy in the privacy of their own room (if you know what i mean!!!!!) Then they have the nerve to leave out the 'appreciate the peace' sign on their door for the morning.

The hotel was close to the university building of my conference. Apart from the conference, there were several good restaurants within walking distance, and it was a five minute walk to the Guildhall Square and Central library, also some pubs and theaters nearby. A ten minute walk to a park and the City Museum also, though it was a bit longer (25 minutes) walk to the Dockyard, it was through a pleasant residential neighborhood. The hotel public space was very nice and, though my room and bathroom were tiny, I liked the porthole window in the bathroom--a practical and charming touch.

The room and bathroom were tiny, but I got used to it. No real air conditioning but I used the table fan when it was warm later in the day and it was fine.

Staff were all very pleasant and everything seemed to run smoothly. Breakfast was particularly good as a full buffet with plenty of choices both cooked and continental. The restaurant and bar area was spacious and a relaxing environment.

The bathroom unfortunately was the only significant negative to the entire stay. We had seen reviews they were small but the bathroom appeared to literally be an afterthought squeezed in and did initially make the room seem small and the odd shape didn't help with this. The bathroom was serviceable with a really good powerful shower but it wasn't particularly comfortable.

The staff are always brilliant , friendly and helpful... the location is perfect for what we want so we always use this place ... we feel that it is always great value for money and will continue to use this hotel as 1st choice

On this occasion having a twin room ment it was a little tight for space... we usually have a double and a single room but on this occasion with only 2 travellers it was a more sensible option.... the shower pressure was a little weak but no big deal... with great staff and good location with good prices it's brilliant value
