It was so amazing! On our first day, we were absolutely stunned by how incredible the place was, so we immediately decided to book the best room at this hotel again for our return trip. It was just fantastic! If possible, I would recommend staying here for at least a week—it would be an unforgettable experience. The owner was incredibly warm and thoughtful, sending us information about the best places to eat and things to do in town ahead of time, making it super convenient to plan activities. The most surprising part is the best room is across the lake, offering stunning views. It’s peaceful and so convenient.

The host was so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Before we began, when I called to check the booking (and make 3 sets of changes!), our host was extremely helpful and patient. The room was very clean, thoughtfully decorated and smelt delicious on arrival. Lovely light and spacious room, great little kitchen, dining and large bathroom with spa bath. The lovely new air con units gave us a most comfortable stay, along with fabulous block out/ privacy drapes. Easy access to the pools, which was heated just right, and spa, a fab hot tub style with lights for the evening dip. Outdoor seating for all motels. Our room had double doors to open to enjoy the beautiful weather. The motel is literally Lakefront and straight onto the lakeside walkway. The host had also advised of the Two Mile Sailing Club, a fun popular dining spot, which was just a few minutes' walk away and the new supermarket nearby. Our towels were changed daily, our kitchen cleaned and tidied. Our host also made careful provision for our motorbike to be close to our room and tucked away so we felt relaxed throughout our stay. Cascades Lakefront Motel truly exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist made us feel incredibly welcome with their genuine, heartfelt hospitality. They even gave us a free upgrade to a family room with direct access to the lakefront walk. This room was perfect and the views were breathtaking. We enjoyed watching the sunset and stargazing, right at the edge of the lake. The motel also offers great value with its bike and kayak hire, which I highly recommend. Cycling around the lake was an unforgettable experience, with gorgeous scenery and perfect weather - it really made this trip special.

There really isn’t much I didn’t like about my stay. The motel is basic in terms of facilities, but the stunning location, welcoming hosts and amazing experience more than made up for it. Honestly, everything exceeded my expectations and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Room was clean, bed comfortable. Press pot for coffee. Had a cooktop and microwave. Small pool was refreshing. Recommend Eliot's bistro, Lotus Thai and Pauly's Diner for food.

Laundry was small, room had no drying rack, there was a community clothesline on property. Hot tub was warm but in poor state. Not convenient to most of Taupo's restaurants in terms of walking although Taupo seemed to have ample parking.

The heated pool was great, the location near to lake and city was good and the service of staff was superb.

The layout of the kitchen was unusual and involved ducking between a hanging cupboard, the wall mounted TV and the bench return. Crockery and cutlery were very limited and the small saucepan lacked a lid. Staff soon found another lid once we asked, which was great. Instructions for the heat pump were in an unusual place (on the side of the TV & heat pump remote box) and we didn't find them until we asked the manager. A book of instructions left on the dining table or bedside table would be more helpful.

Nice and clean, loved the little outdoor play area for our kids (Springfree trampoline, swings, slide, playhouse) and great location with easy access onto the lakeside pathway for lovely walking. We enjoyed wandering down to the nearby Two Mile Sailing Club where they had live music and a lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff (owners?)

I hadn't quite realised beforehand that the upstairs part of the room was just a mezzanine floor/open to the downstairs - it did mean we woke each other up a bit overnight (3yo and 1yo). Kitchen was pretty basic, no salt and pepper provided.

Cascade is run by Silas a wonderful manager. He is making sure, everything is clean and tidy. We found particulary the pools very clean! And we are very picky. Location was awesome and Silas gave us tips on where to go to and what to do. Would definitely go back to stay

The Motel is a bit older and needs some renovation, but Silas is doing a great job in Restauration. Therefore this comment is by no means to be judged negatively. We would stay at the Cadscade again without a doubt.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Cascades Lakefront. My room had vaulted ceilings, room smelled fresh/clean, beds were comfortable, lots of space and quiet. Location is great. I couldn't have picked a better place, the lake is right outside the door, and my pups loved that they can enjoy the view out the window and go for a walk and swim. Will come back again.

The location was great, right by the lake and a stroll from the sailing club and a couple of restaurants. Great facilities - kayaks and bikes for hire, swimming and spa pool, and bbq area. We had a view of part of the lake, great outlook to look at while in the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This was a great place to stay.

The kitchen was a bit tight with a very awkward cupboard that my husband banged his head on. The furnishings need some upgrading which the motel is in the process of doing so it will only get better. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of tables, cushions, etc so overall a minor negative.

Excellent location, nice clean rooms (that smell nice rather than of cleaning products), friendly staff, lovely outside area with bbq, dog friendly.

I know it’s the holiday season so we’re paying a premium but $500 a night for a pretty basic motel room is pretty rich. Suggest small things to make it better value for money: two ply toilet paper, larger drinking glasses, beach towels maybe? We enjoyed our stay but that price equals much more flashy accom.
