We enjoyed the history and quirkiness of the room and that it had air-conditioning. The staff were friendly and accommodating. A full English breakfast is provided on the weekends. It was quiet and there were only 4 rooms with private bathrooms. The owner of the pub/accommodations made us feel welcome and shared the history of the building.

On weekdays, a continental breakfast was provided. However, it needed to be restocked , there wasn't enough milk, teabags, and any butter. It offered a variety of cereals and bread for toasting. Also, mugs for tea/coffee were needed. There wasn't anyone available, prior to 9:00AM.

The staff were excellent, couldn't do enough for you, very accommodating, friendly and professional. The bar had a great selection of beers and spirits along with non alcoholic. Food was also of a great standard and well presented.

Access to the rooms was a little precarious up a steep staircase which was accessed from the side of the beer garden. This not a major issue and you would expect a little quirkiness with the age of the property. I did notice though that mobility issues were catered for with a stair lift. So its safe to say there wasn't any thing that would put me off staying again.

I thought it was a bit too pricey (including bar prices) for what it was and that would put me off going again. It was all I could get at short notice unfortunately so had to put up with it .

A decent breakfast is an important part of my decision when booking. The "About this property" section of listing says "Delicious Breakfast: Guests can enjoy a continental or full English/Irish breakfast each morning" and the actuall room listing says "Good breakfast £10". But on check-in I was told that that's only at the seekend. During the week it's DIY toast & cereal. The room had no direct source of sunlight or ventilation. For air, you have to open the toilet door and a high level fixed pane window also let a bit of light through from the toilet. I'm surprised it's legal. The toilet had two small windows, only one of which opened. Unfortunately, that opening window is close to the kitchen extraction which emmitted a horrible whine/buzz on top of the roar of the air movement. So, you could have air or relative peace, but not both. I went down to have a quiet pint in the courtyard. Sat at a bench as far away from the speakers playing the obligatory music no-one listens to as possible and found my arms sticking to the bench. Looked at some food reviews and decided to eat elsewhere. When I got back at 22:00, the extraction was still going strong. Fortunately it shut off at 10 past.
