Location, history/ambience, all staff pleasant and efficient.

Room temperature too high, too many stairs to access room- I recognise the age and construction of the hotel.

Great location and comfortable room. Nothing has changed much over the last 35 years when we first stayed there

Beautifully kept property and so lovely to learn about the history of the building. The staff were excellent and extremely attentive. We also received a complimentary ride in one of their beautiful Bentleys around the city which was a wonderful treat. It was my daughter’s birthday and they even left her a card with a selection of sweets as a gift, a lovely touch.

Some of the decor was a little tired and we got put in the bar for breakfast which didn’t have quite the same atmosphere as the main restaurant - although the staff did apologise as it was due to the restaurant being too busy

We enjoyed the whole stay very much. We had a warm welcome from Kanokwan on arrival and a surprise offer of a city tour in a vintage Bentley. Nigel drove us around Norwich and explained both the history and lots of entertaining stories and tips for our weekend. This made our visit five star. Thank you Nigel. We had two very good breakfasts with good choice and excellent staff team who were all friendly and very helpful. We had one evening meal ( classic menu) and again it was really good. Staff made us very relaxed . Our room was lovely. Looked out on to a busy street with the cathedral entrance which was ideally situated, but there was some noise ( music) from a local club/ bar. This didn’t worry us. Hotel is perfect for visiting Norwich and we’d love to return one day.

Junior suite was perfect for a quick get away for my son, my niece and I. A dear lovely room, set up perfectly for our stay. Staff were wonderful, very helpful, charming and smiled!!! Room service available for dinner and breakfast in bed which the kids loved!! Decent selection for breakfast.

Water in room was obviously for two people and not three. Room service dinner menu was limited, especially as two of us were vegetarians. Having said that it’s no surprise! Please offer something other than risotto for vegetarians, it’s so dull, I can assure you!!! We were due to go out for dinner, but the kids just wanted to chill and watch a movie. Honestly, these are small things and we had a super stay, but something to consider.

The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Norwich. The hotel is superb. Only slight problem was an iPad supplied in the room couldn't be used as the charging lead was broken. When we reported this to reception they said they would get it sorted asap. All the staff we encountered were fantastic, particularly the barman and the man in charge of breakfast arrangements. We had an early train to catch and needed a slightly earlier breakfast than the normal Sunday timings but they were very good at helping to accommodate our request.

Only the supplied iPad charging lead which was broken.

the room decoration was nice. The bed was comfortable. Good breakfast choices with some gluten-free options.

The 1 bottle of water provided the cap was sealed shut, and we. couldn't remove the lid. I got 2 more from reception, and they were the same. we had to go out and buy water, which wasn't good to use in the kettle and to drink. The shower took a long time to heat up in the morning. Recetion looked into it quickly and told us to wait a while as the hotel was busy. It took 15 mins of waiting, but then we both had showers. we were offered a refund, which we didn't take up as it didn't spoil our stay but did slightly effect the rating.

Location close to cathedral and market - excellent. Staff - competent, friendly, welcoming and helpful without being obsequious. Breakfast good quality as were the fittings and fixtures. It also had the charm and individuality of an old building which has undergone many changes over the centuries. Having its own car park was a great convenience.

Our room was on the small side and therefore a bit congested. However, everything we needed was there. The ensuite bathroom however, was badly configured with inadequate shelving. Surely in a hotel of this quality you should not have to park your washbag on the floor. Much to our relief the info iPad didn't work and we were given a hardcopy folder as a replacement which was much more user friendly.

The location was excellent and the hotel was charming and had a lot of character. All the staff were absolutely delightful and extremely prompt with their help. The breakfast was excellent and I made a good choice to stay there.

My room was extremely hot. The hotel kindly exchanged the fan in my cupboard (which was dusty and not working) for one that did work but I would recommend making sure that new and modern fans are bought for the rooms. My IPad was not working either - I did not need it but it was intended to work. There was poor lighting above the chair in the room and no lamp. So all in all the room was a little 'tired' and I felt it could do with a little more attention to detail.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, it's so easy to walk everywhere especially to the cathedral. The free city tour in a Bentley is a lovely added bonus. The staff are all lovely and friendly. Breakfast is really good and I can highly recommend the afternoon tea too. We had a lovely room in the oldest part of the hotel and the bed was extremely comfortable.

The only place to hang the towels in the bathroom is on the heated towel rail but it never seemed to be on. There was nothing to hold on to when climbing in and out of the bath to take a shower and I was a little worried about slipping. A small grab rail would be a great addition.
