Great breakfast, including for vegetarian guest. Room had lovely decor, and toiletries were environmentally-friendly refillables rather than miniature plastic freebies/throw aways.

Booking.com advertised the room with a balcony but it was actually a terrace which formed part of the bar's outdoor seating area (the hotel doesn't have any rooms with balconies). We came back from a day out to find bar guests sitting on 'our' terrace, so not really part of the room/ private use. Dogs are welcome but not everywhere, so we couldn't take full advantage of the facilities, and £20 each per night, when other hotels charge that for the entire stay, it seemed an expensive and disappointing add-on.

The dinner was very good and they cater well for allergies. The hotel is quiet and beautifully situated on a private stretch of river. Plenty of parking space. Helpful and friendly staff.

No sleep on the first night due to the heat from a radiator that could not be switched off and windows apparently painted shut. Next night, one window open no heating, still too warm (in April). Plus we discovered on leaving that the source of an overpowering air freshener was a diffuser under the bed. Lovely room but we had a poor sleep experience. Probably not risk returning, although everything else was fine.

Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Bed was huge, and very comfortable. Furniture was plush! My mum is disabled and they let us park right by the annex we stayed in and gave her a ground floor room and walk-in shower. But the best bit was the views from our bedroom window and setting! Absolutely breathtaking!

Shower door didn’t open wide enough. So it was awkward to get in and out of. No air con. (But they kindly supplied us with a fan). No ramps to get into the main hotel or annex. Just a few steep steps, which were awkward for my mum to manage.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful. Stewart on the front desk was so welcoming and kind and the waiting staff were so lovely. Our room was beautifully set up and some chocolates were set out along with a little note wishing my partner a ‘happy birthday’. And the bed… the comfiest bed I think I’ve ever slept in. The breakfast was absolutely stellar, couldn’t have enjoyed it more if she tried. The setting was fantastic, thoroughly enjoyed watching fish jump and cows grazing in the field across the way. Honestly it was just so lovely.

The only drawback was that there wasn’t a residence lounge where you could relax with a drink. The tables in the bar were all set for meals and a lot of the tables had been booked, so we knew we would have to move. Honestly though, that was the only thing. Everything else was so brilliant.

We stay in the separate house that allows doggies. We were attending a wedding and as the dog sitter was busy we asked if it was ok to bring them. Banchory lodge was very accommodating, changed our room without problem. We even managed to get into room early to drop off dogs before wedding started. The room itself was lovely, small private gated garden for dogs to wander around in. I definitely would use these rooms again, clean, didn’t smell of doggies, just what we wanted with little to no stress. As far breakfast 5*

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a lodge in Banchory, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The location was absolutely stunning, surrounded by peaceful, picturesque scenery that made it the perfect retreat from everyday life. The facilities were exceptionally well-maintained, with every detail carefully thought out to ensure guests’ comfort. From the cozy and inviting interiors to the beautifully kept outdoor spaces, everything was top-notch. The menu was fabulous, offering a great variety of delicious dishes that catered to all tastes. Every meal was a delight, prepared with care and attention to detail. What truly made the stay extraordinary, however, was the staff. They went above and beyond to make my son and me feel welcome and cared for. Their kindness and genuine warmth made all the difference, and we felt so at home throughout our stay. I can’t recommend this lodge highly enough—whether you’re looking for a peaceful getaway or a family-friendly retreat, it’s the perfect place. We’ll definitely be returning!

This is a real hotel were your made to feel special. The location is stunning yet just a short walk to the charming town of Banchory. The rooms are individually designed and each unique. Lots of antiques, quirky pictures, historical photos. Staff were supreme. Parking is a beautiful river side location. Fantastic food next to a roaring open fire. Softest towels and wonderful organic Scotish toiletries. Most comfortable beds, the best white linen. It was hard checking out, but after a walk along the river, morning tea in the lounge completed my stay. I left feeling absolutely refreshed, nourished, and recharged. Sometimes, it's great being looked after. Thank you, Banchory Lodge, you've won my heart.... yet again

The setting of the Banchory Lodge is beautiful. We arrived in the dark and were rewarded by a welcoming facade of lighting. The Lodge was welcoming. An inviting menu with good quality food. Staff friendly and helpful.

We were advised that there may be a charge for our dogs, who have their own beds, etc, on booking. However, we were surprised to be informed that the additional charge would be £20 per dog per night! I was very glad we had only booked on night! I was advised that this levy was to cover cleaning and doggy- centric items in room. The additional items were 2 poo bags, two small handfuls of dog treats and one bowl.

Banchory Lodge sits right on the banks of the River Dee, a gorgeous location - one evening over dinner we even saw salmon leaping. Beautiful room (Deluxe King) with a very comfortable four poster bed, lovely view and an enormous and extremely clean bathroom. Every member of staff we encountered was so friendly and the meals in the restaurant (both breakfast and dinner) were excellent, always piping hot and with plenty of choice. A wonderful stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Beautiful old country house, tastefully decorated with a fun modern flair. Bed was very comfortable, very spacious bedroom and bathroom, food is top quality and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. The grounds are lovely and well kept, and the hotel is on the banks of the confluence of 2 rivers. It's stunning.

Our room was far too hot and we couldn't open the windows or regulate the heating. The staff were very understanding and put us in a cooler room the following night without any fuss at all. The breakfast could've been hotter the first morning and after mentioning it it came very hot the 2nd morning 👌
