We liked how friendly the young man was who checked us in. The room was lovely and clean. The pub under the hotel is great and food was lovely.
The staff that served us with breakfast seemed a bit lacking in smiles and customer service.

Hidden gem, the building has a lot of historic charm, Nicely decorated. The staff are friendly, The King room, we stayed in as a family was very nice, and reasonably clean. Considering the fast turn around in between guests, The bed was extremely comfortable.. I slept very well. Breakfast was great too. We had Full English & Eggs Benedict. (My son (13) liked the coffee provided in the room so much he wants me to go online, to see if we can get hold of some for at home. :D) The central location was ideal for shopping and walking distance from the AO Arena. There was a couple of loud passers by out side in the night, and few dark narrow roads, but that's to be expected in a busy city, that's built up around it & the view of the multi storey carpark out of the window is beyond the hotel's control. With the net curtain closed you'd never know it was out there. Will definitely be booking again in the future. Thank you very much, Abel Heyward staff.
As we used the hotel as a base before and after a concert, we just needed somewhere safe warm, dry and comfortable to spend the night, before catching the train home. Glad to say, we found that at Abel Heyward hotel. we didn't have any issues at all..

Friendly staff, slight mix up on rooms at check in but quickly resolved. I initially booked breakfast but I didn't realise that it started from 8am not 7am which I was unable to use so they kindly credited this to my evening meal which I was very happy with. It was surprisingly quiet in the room despite being above the pub, I wasn't disturbed by any noise at night at all. Very comfortable bed, spacious room that has been very recently renovated and very clean.
Nothing, I was a little apprehensive on arrival about the noise downstairs but the sound proofing is very efficient in the room. The shower/bath is very slippery, perhaps on account of it's newness...but could probably do with a bath mat/gripping for safety reasons.

Everything! It’s a great little spot! We arrived and checked in was very smooth- very welcoming duty manager- was very informative! The rooms are super lovely- small but just perfect for what you need! Great location- central to amenities yet set back from the hustle and bustle of the direct Main Street. The decor of the hotel is beautiful- we didn’t bother going anywhere after our event as the hotel bar opened till around 12:30 ish so it literally served all purposes! We hadn’t pre booked breakfast with our rooms but still had it in the hotel the next morning- the breakfast was brilliant! Such a little gem of a find. See you again soon!
Honestly can’t think of anything!

Very polite, kind and professional people run this Hotel - From arrival to leaving, everything was perfect! We were greeted warmly, and were given directions to where we can eat and drink, much appreciated. The room was really nicely laid out. Quiet also. Nice King size bed, comfortable night's rest. Very nice shower, good pressure and temperature was consistent. If we asked for additional things like another towel, it was given promptly, they were nice and soft by the way. The bar was really nice, good ales, the food which was recommended by a staff member was very tasty and fulfilling. Good seating area also. It's very close to Arndale Shopping Centre and also to pubs and restaurants in multiple directions. Thank you again for an excellent time staying at your Boutique Hotel.

We had 2 loft rooms. One had just been refurbished and was very nice but did have quite a new paint smell, the other one was okay but didn’t have a shower curtain. Breakfast was good, staff were all friendly and polite. In a good position to access city centre.
Area is a bit run down. There was a multi-storey car park right next to the pub but it advised on the booking information to park in the Arndale car park which was quite close. The car park next door looked a bit dodgy, covered in graffiti and scruffy, probably wouldn’t have been happy leaving car there overnight.

I really liked this hotel. It is in a lovely characterful Victorian building with a lively bar downstairs, and my room (though a little small) was still very comfortable and cheery with a nice bed and great decor . The bathroom too was very well furnished and modern. The room is well double glazed so the street noise isn't intrusive (although the hotel isn't by any busy roads) and I had a really good night's sleep. They supply free bottles of water and also tea/coffee which is good. Breakfast wasn't included but was very good value and really tasty. All in all this is a great hotel, which was very good value for money and I would very highly recommend it.
All was great!

Stayed previously love the location and staff always lovely.
That the key card didn't work 3 times , meaning I went up and down the stairs on arrival unable to get to our room.. The member of staff thought access to the floors needed tweaking and a member of staff pointed out to him that the access door had not been fixed for some time ,meaning we had to use a lift to get to our room. Surely access is a health and safety issue and fixing a door key code is not a huge problem . Using a lift as a necessity would be awful if there was a fire..

Great location for the Armadale centre, the Christmas markets and the AO arena. We loved that we could have a first and last drink in the pub downstairs. Toiletries and tea and coffee provided were really good. As well as iron, hairdryer etc.
The room was a tad dated…we were given the largest room with a wet room which was good but there was a bit of black mold in the bathroom and the most disappointing thing was that there was no remote control for the tv ….you couldn’t switch it on at all. The staff were very busy in the pub so we didn’t mither. We did mention it when leaving and he was surprised the cleaner hadn’t reported it. We didn’t want to complain as such but he needed to know we hadn’t got it! We were however very comfy here.

We returned to the Abel Heywood (again!) because of the friendly, helpful staff, and we weren't disappointed. The service is as exceptional as ever. The breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location is perfectly situated close to the Arndale Centre and 10 minutes' taxi from Piccadilly Station. We have booked to stay again in January.
If only they had a car park! The one they recommend is a 5 minute walk but to drive there from the hotel (to drop off luggage or guests) would take 20 minutes because of the one-way system. We chose to go by train but especially during Christmas Market season this is a very stressful experience!
