The bedroom and bathroom were huge and very clean. The room was equipped with everything you would need for a one night stay and the bathroom had underfloor heating which was a nice surprise. We slept well as a result of a very comfortable bed, pillows etc., and there is no noise pollution from other rooms or from outside the hotel. The hotel is well located and the building has a lot of history and character. Very charming. Would stay here again when in Manchester.

Breakfast in the morning was very expensive and I'm unsure if the quality / portion size reflected how much we were charged.

Not enough room in the shower in the room we selected. Pretty hard to not get your hair wet. Didn't find the pillows as comfortable as I expected, they didn't feel supportive of my neck and shoulders. Carpets in and around the hotel need a clean, especially outside our room. Iron in the room wasn't the best. Prices of snacks/mini bar were high. I would have expected the snacks at least to be free of charge due to price of the room. Stayed as a gift for my husbands birthday so expected a bit more of a welcome. The complimentary champagne was lovely but I believe this is what everyone gets. Would have been nice to have an extra glass or some form of extra without having to pay additional (for example room decroations/flowers).

The staff were superb and couldn't do enough for you. They were so friendly and helpful. The welcome drink on arrival was very welcome indeed! The breakfast was superb and of very high quality - the best breakfast we have had in a hotel! The 'Jo Loves' toiletries in the bathroom were lovely also.

I felt the room was very small and the mattress was hard and sloping down towards your head which was annoying. I expected the bed to be really comfortable but was disappointed. The climate control pad in the room was complicated and you couldn't seem to alter the temperature or just simply turn it off! The control pad stay lit all night which affected sleep. Both myself and my husband hardly slept. Also, we stayed on a Monday evening and the hotel bar was closed which was disappointing. I have never stayed at a 5 star hotel before where you are unable to visit the bar no matter what night you stay. As this was an expensive hotel to stay at, it is only for these reasons that we have marked it down from excellent.

It was our first time staying at the Stock Exchange and I wanted to book a nice place to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday - the staff welcomed us upon our arrival and took our car to the private parking area, we were offered complimentary champagne and walked up to our room by a nice gentlemen named Nigel who told us about the heritage of the hotel! We stayed in the suite with a terrace and was blown away by the amenities! Lovely staff, lovely environment and such an amazing experience!

We ordered dinner the first night and I was a bit disappointed with the room service, particularly the steak but the rest of the food was lovely!

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed. Everything about this hotel is stunning. Most importantly, the staff. There is one particular member who stood out from our visit on June 24 and February 25 - Deepak. He is such a treasure and asset to the company. He remembers such small details, which is remarkable considering the number of guests that stay! He always has a smile on his face, and it's just such a pleasure to talk to. The owners of this hotel need to look after him for sure! Thank you for making our stay a joy.

Beautiful History to the building / hotel. Friendly and attentive staff all around. Cleaning services completed early in the day, including turn down service too. Top-ups of water, coffee, amenities in the bathroom where always available. Spacious rooms. Wonderful speakeasy bar in the hotel as well. Amazing location (dead center of the city)

We tried breakfast once, i wouldn't say i didn't like it, but had higher expectations. A La Carte menu was basic and food was alright - expected more from the breakfast. Nothing at all except for the breakfast part.

The staff could not do enough for us, so attentive and helpful all the time. They would order taxis for us, collect food that we’d had ordered to the room and made lovely conversation with us every time we saw them. My husband is on crutches at the moment after having an operation and they did everything they could to assist him into the car, lift etc. just fabulous service! Obviously the location and hotel was stunning, the suite we were in was beautiful and clean, the cleaners couldn’t come in one day as my husband was taking a nap so they made an effort to come that evening instead.

The staff were all so attentive, loved how upon check in we were brought into the welcome room for a glass of champagne, a lovely touch and unexpected. Ben or Dan (sorry can’t remember his name) was so lovely and gave us a tour of the hotel explaining all the history which we loved! The vault bar was a real highlight, so cosy and romantic and again all the staff were amazing in there. The room was lovely and modern, loved the touch of fresh milk in the fridge! Bed extremely comfy too. We both left thinking this is our new favourite hotel in Manchester as we were so impressed! Only thing I think that would make it even more exceptional would be having an operating restaurant as the dining area is so beautiful.

The live music that came on in the bar wasn’t very good, ruined the atmosphere for me and could’ve been better.

We loved the overall decor of the hotel, decadent yet modern. The staff were incredibly helpful, and professional. Great food and drinks, especially loved the cocktails. We came to celebrate my partner’s birthday along with a couple of friends who also stayed at the hotel. Even as we left the next morning, somewhat fragile from too much alcohol consumption, our car was brought to us with accompanying bottles of water for our drive home! Much needed hydration and excellent service!

the surrounding area was a little intimidating after dark, which led me to feel a bit unsafe. Also there was no Gym at the hotel which was a bit surprising
