The room was pleasantly decorated, the bed was very comfortable, the hospitality tray was perfect, the bathroom had everything we needed. Our hosts were kind and caring, going out of their way to be helpful.

It's hard to think of anything we didn't like. The only unpleasant thing was the attempt at a scam attached to the booking.com website when we booked our room. That attempted to get us to click on a link and pay a deposit to ensure reservation of our room. I knew that a deposit had not been requested when I booked, so avoided being conned. I think that the responsibility for this lay with booking.com and not Castle Gate.

For visiting Alnwick and the surrounding area this is the perfect location. Set in the centre of the Town, 10mins or so walk from the Castle and the Gardens and also ideal for the local amenities - shops, Pubs, Local Market Day etc. Also a very short walk away from Barter Books. The rooms are small but cosy, quiet, have a small fridge, Iron, Ironing Board, Hairdryer and Tea & Coffee making facilities. Very comfy bed and whilst a little on the small side, the ensuite covers all needs. This was a Bed only stay so cannot comment on Breakfast. No other meals provided but there's a fantastic selection of eating places within short walking distance. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and Jo is a lovely Landlady.

There is off street parking but only for two cars and there are 6 rooms available. I didn't ask Jo what the arrangements were - did she have only two rooms booked at a time or is it a "first come, first served" basis for parking. There is parking out on the street, however this is a single yellow line road, so parking is time restricted.

Jo was fantastic, she knows everything about the local area and is brilliant if you need any tips or guidance. I did almost everything she suggested and had a lovely time visiting the area. Location is excellent and there are places to park, including longer term car parks. The bed was quite firm which is great for my back but if your prefer softer then be warned. At the time I went it was also pretty quiet but the room does come with a warning about thin walls. For me Jo made the whole stay excellent.

The only minor gripe is the bolts for the taps need tightening under the sink. Being loose they move meaning you have to hold a tap to turn it off fully, if I had a wrench with me it's a 2 min job. For those moaning about not getting breakfast, there are many good options for breakfast a very short walk away.

The hosts were so considerate and really bothered that our stay was how we wanted. Daily cleaning or fo not disturb covered. Due to our health, we always had the "do not disturb" sign up, but we left our used mugs outside the room each night and we always woke up to fresh, clean ones outside our room. My bank card was cancelled the week before, and the hosts had no problem when I explained that it hadn't arrived and allowed us to pay when we got there. I cannot think of a fault, and we are returning in the future.

That I wasn't stay longer hahaha. There was no negative, as anything we needed help with, such as keeping my wheelchair folded up in the hallway was absolutely fine.

Really good sized rooms, off street parking, unbelievably comfy beds and a homely place to stay. The host greeted us on arrival and helped us carry our bags to the room. She couldn’t have done enough for us. Such a wonderful friendly lady which made us feel very comfortable and welcome. We only stayed as a cheep stop off to break up our journey to Edinburgh but would love to go back end explore the village as it looks so lovely with so much to do. Would definitely stay again

The owner, Jo, was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We would definitely stay again. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. The accommodation was tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. We appreciated the daily bed making and room freshening. Parking in front of the house was always available and the location was ideal for local amenities.

Possibly the parking was a little bit tight for a larger car, but there was usually additional free parking available on the road too. We really have no complaints at all and would definitely return in future.

Location central. Amenities all close at hand. Perfect base to commute to other locations and see wonderful scenery, Castles, Halls, shops and more. Alnwick Castle is a stones throw from the front door. Jo is lovely, friendly and couldn't be any more helpful. Highly recommended. Room is perfect, has everything you need.

Some pubs and restaurants in Alnwick shut earlier, not sure if it's due to being early in the season.

We loved the location totally central in Alnwick therefore close to local facilities and easy access to major road links. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Jo, the proprietor, was really friendly, welcoming and informative about the locale. Also she had an information pack in the room prepared with menus from some of the local eateries re breakfast, lunch or dinner.

A couple of tweaks in the accommodation could improve ones stay. E.g the taps in our en-suite were loose and swivelled around when you wanted water. A simple DIY task for the future. We would certainly recommend this accommodation and definitely return in the future.

Central location, Jo the host was nice and friendly and the room was good value for money, was always warm and toasty. Fresh towels daily and topped up on amenities.

Parking outside is a little difficult as theres an incline and no dropped curb so cars can park infront at night blocking you in, easily fixed as there's a long stay car park a two minute walk away.

Castle Gate was very easy to find and very close to the entrance of the famous Alnwick Castle! It was quiet, safe, clean, spacious, and comfortable. Jo, the proprietor, is very friendly and offered some good advice about Alnwick and other interesting places. Staff Tracy was very helpful. We'll book again when we come back with our daughter in the future.
