A lovely authentic place in one of the older parts of the city. If you are looking for the "old inn" experience, this may be quite fitting (if you disregard the modern bathroom and the AC). They certainly took great care to make it look authentic and picturesque in the tasteful Japanese way. The beds were comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked fine. We enjoyed the provided tea in the room.

Fitting a fridge into a tiny tatami room would probably be difficult, so you'll have to go the tried and true youth-hostel "sign your name and date on your food in the common fridge" way. Also, there was some miscommunication with the reception staff before arriving (could be a language barrier), but we sorted it out to everyone's satisfaction. And we never quite got the magic of making the shower water hot.

Loved the idea of experience the real deal. Reception was very lovely and helpful. Not amazing at english but can do with translation apps. Very friendly and helpful. Can't recommend enough. Even though thin walls and can hear everything from neighbours it's not something wasn't mentioned before. Would be nice if tourists keep that in mind and respect others. But hey not something staff can control. Place has laundry which is super convenient.

Was a bit disappointed that we had to book 2 rooms for 2 adults and child. There was enough space in double room for all of us.

Such a cute little place, very tranquil, lovely little garden in the centre and our room had a window out into a little decorated yard also. The place is small and quaint, and even though there were many others staying while we were (there were a lot of pairs of shoes!) it was still fairly quiet and other guests were respectful. The room was spotless and the shower was excellent. One thing I would suggest is a short stay rather than a long one, as the futons - while warm - are a little thin so it is a little hard sleeping on the floor. A great experience all the same. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

Nothing, it was beautiful

Nagomi is a good place to stay. Central Location, all Bus lines and Train Station are easy to reach. Even some seightseeing spots like Nijo Castle. Shopping and food areas not too far, and still in a quiet neighborhood. I had a traditionell room with a nice Touch and my own bathroom, which is quiet special for a Ryokan. Staff was available, If needed.

Nagomi is not for you, if you need a real quiet room. The house is old. You hear every noise. Staff provides ear protection, If you wish, which is good. Be aware: Facilities Like shower, water boiler or bed are simple, but okay.

It was such a fun experience staying in a ryokan. It was our first time. I loved the tatami mat floors and the futon bed. Was especially neat that our room was right by a little garden. Room clean and simple. Staff was very friendly and there were helpful recommendations of places to visit in the city. The price was very good too for two people. Convenient location to Ojo station subway as well, which was one stop from Kyoto station. The check-in office was a short walk away. Map provided at the address of where we actually stayed on how to get there.

Not a problem for us, but would have been unable to store luggage. Not right in the middle of the most historic areas so it took about 20-30 min to travel to some of the temples we wanted to see.

We liked the authentic atmosphere, the easy to access location, the cute guide book in English they provided, and everything overall. The powerful AC in the summer was wonderful. Because we slept on futon we had more room to sleep than some hotels we'd stayed at in other parts of Japan. We had a private room with its own bathroom and honestly the fact they were able to fit the bathroom in such a tight space was impressive! We only stayed one night and weren't charged for towels so I think I misunderstood other reviews - they charge you to switch out your towels not just for a basic set of towels. check in and check out were wonderfully easy.

If we had stayed more than a night I might have found the futon/floor too uncomfortable but my husband was fine!

The neighbourhood was really quiet, calm and nice to take a walk. The Ryokan has a really good location in the city. Also, the ryokan is really nice and traditional.

Even in the Booking page of the Ryokan warns you about the noises and to stay calm and quiet, there was a room in the Ryokan that was taking a party till late and, of course, you hear everything and you cannot sleep. For sure this is not a problem of the Ryokan, is people's fault, as they were unpolite and disrespectful. However, I notified at the reception and they take care of the problem. After this, everything was fine :)

It had a good location for us to walk to our attractions and find food. It was really close to the luggage transportation depot. Staff was wonderful and would recommend.. We stayed in the two bedroom with both bedroom upstairs. We had plenty of room for a family of 4 with extra room.

It was not full Ryokan with sliding doors to to a court yard. No views from our windows other then other buildings but to get that location that is what you have to give up

Ryokan Yuu had the authentic traditional Ryokan experience that we were looking for. The bedding and linens were clean and fresh and the newly remodeled bathrooms / showers were wonderful. I literally had my best night's sleep in months on the pillow-soft futon...I don't think I moved all night! :) My kids loved the tatami rooms and futons...it was like a big sleepover. The air conditioners in each room was a lifesaver in the steamy hot July weather.

It's a bit of a hike from the nearest station (15-20 minute walk), but it is close to many bus stations. The toilet room in one of the units did have a mildly odd smell like the sewage system may have been slightly backed up.

Beautiful old traditional building which has so much charm. I loved the room (triple room with private bathroom). We had 2 people, it might be a bit tight with three people. The staff were lovely and helpful. I enjoyed the experience with of sleeping on traditional futon mattress

Had noisy neighbours -though not the fault of the property as noise just travels in traditional old buildings like this. The property did offer ear plugs at checkin which is a nice convenience
