You simply can’t beat the value for money this hotel offers. The location is unbeatable — right next to the funicular that connects directly to the Lugano main SBB station (and possibly other destinations, though I only used it for the station). There’s also a wide variety of restaurants and shops just steps from the hotel. Despite its compact size, the hotel has a great little gym, and my room — which faced the funicular — was surprisingly quiet. I slept like a baby! If you're a light sleeper, the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs and a welcome chocolate in the room. A really nice touch: I received the Ticino Ticket by email on the day of arrival, giving me free access to most public transportation and discounts at various attractions. But what truly made my stay exceptional was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. Thank you all for your kindness, thoughtful touches, and excellent recommendations — you made my visit even more memorable!

Breakfast is typical Swiss, so it's not a complaint, just a note for other travellers :) Expect cheese, cold cuts, croissants, bread, good choice of fruits and yogurts.

Everything is very beautiful, raffined and leggiero :) Breakfast, details of decoration in the room, incredibly good location (beautiful shops in vicinity :) ), and a calm night inspite of its position on a square of the town's centre. I even managed to swim in the lake, not far from the hotal location. The hotel stored the luggage for free after my check out!

I came late at night by train and was not able to apply (without a few tries) the instructions from the tutorial on the youtube on how to get to the hotel :) from the train station. In the bright morning all looked differently, easy :)

The location is relatively convenient. It's *right* next to the funicular for lugano central station. The HVAC was amazing and the bed was comfortable. The restroom was one of the better layouts. They had lots of free value adds. Breakfast was one of the better ones. Less than 10 minutes alking distance to basically everything you could need.

It's very hard to find the first time. It's hidden behind some shrubbery in a shopping center behind the funicular. If you just blindly follow Google maps you'll have a hard time. Also if you don't know about the funicular it's a very long walk from the central station.

What a lovely hotel in the heart of the city. So conveniently located downtown, right above /on the funicular station, and still quiet - so easy to get up/down to the train/bus station in less than 5 minutes. Conveniently located right next to the lake, park, historical old town, restaurants, stores. So tidy and clean, and thoughtful. My room was tiny with some window over the roof view, but so ergonomic and comfortable, Breakfast was delicious with quite a variety. But most of all - hotel staff, so polite, courteous and welcoming. I loved my little treat upon arrival and safety kit in the room with complimentary water too.

I wish I knew I had to walk down the stairs a bit and that the funicular was right next to the train station to get me down quickly. But the walk was ok, as long as you don’t have heavy suitcases. I also wandered a bit to find it, it’s right next to Dante Hotel with a clearly visible sign, I didn’t see the Aquarello hotel sign immediately, so it was a bit of a discovery for me. But once I found it o loved the quiet little garden and its vicinity to all the best things in Lugano.

The location is great. The funicular in the train station stops right at the entrance to the hotel so you dont have to lug your suitcases very far. The hotel is right in the Old Town and it is a 5 minute walk to all the reataurants and waterfront. Breakfast was good and the front desk staff spoke excellent English and were helpful. Our room was a little small but clean with coffee making, a fridge and AC.

We booked a budget double and asked for a quiet room. The hotel replied and said they had given us a room at the back of the hotel away from the funicular which runs from 5am to 11pm What we didnt realise was the window opened onto a wall of solid granite. It was a tad small too. We asked to be changed but all rooms were taken except for one alongside the funicular. It was a nicer room but we decided a good sleep was worth more than a bit of an outlook. It was a good decision because we spent no time in the room except to sleep at night. It was our cheapest stay in Switzerland so I am not complaining, just for information of others. The location more than makes up for the lack of an outlook.

Great value for money! I frequently travel to Lugano by train for work, and this hotel couldn’t be in a better location. It’s a three-star hotel, so don’t expect a palace, but it is clean, and the staff is very efficient. The location is truly unbeatable. It’s right at the funicular station, so you can hear it a bit, but it’s much quieter than if there were a road nearby. With the funicular, you’re just a five-minute ride to the train station and only two minutes to the city center.

Don’t expect a great view from the room windows; however, you can enjoy one with a two minutes walk outside.

Great location! Right next to the funicular stop. Super convenient. It’s close to everything: restaurants, lake, park, lido. Breakfast is great. Hotel is sweet that it made a few videos to show how to get to the hotel by funicular, by car, or on foot.

Not sure if it’s due to plants in the atrium, there are lots of mosquitoes in the lobby area. I would recommend getting to the hotel by funicular and dropping the idea of walking unless you don’t have suitcases. The video made by the hotel shows the route full of stairs. It was great view though. There is another route with ramp that the video did not show. But it’s very steep like 40 degree of slope. Don’t get fooled by Google map which shows 6 min walk from train station. With a suitcase plus 2 duffel bags, that was very hard to maneuver and took definitely more than 6 min.

The room was extremely clean and relatively inexpensive for Switzerland. The hotel was convenient to the train station, and right next to the lower station of the funicular. The desk manager was very helpful. The included breakfast was good, including hard boiled eggs, croissants, toast, jam, cereal, whole milk, juices, coffee, tea and yogurt.

I tried multiple times to get the air conditioner to work. It never did. Fortunately it was early in the season, and it was not too hot. Request a room opposite from the funicular, or the noise will be bothersome. The phone instructions need to be more specific, i.e. how to contact the front desk. There was a required deposit for the safe which would be refunded upon successful checkout.

Location for me is ideal! friendly, competent staff, great hot showers, more than decent breakfast modest size room adequate for solo travelers, as I was, a bit tight for two sauna available for reasonable extra charge

I vote my 'city tax' goes towards putting the funicular on rubber wheels and quiet track!! even on the quiet side the sound and rumble are quite apparent from 4.30a until 11.30p Nevertheless, it works for me

I loved everything about it! The room was spacious and clean and the bathroom was large as well. I had a lovely view into the garden which was gorgeous. I also had the breakfast and it was delicious with plenty of options. The hotel itself is in a perfect location and I absolutely wish I stayed in Lugano longer just to enjoy this hotel. I spent all morning inside until check out at 11am because it was so comfortable.
