The single room I stayed was a little bit small and outdated but had a balcony with beautiful lake view, I could enjoy the view from the balcony day & night. Breakfast was good, and the self-service drink bar was also nice. I could get from the staff at the reception some additional amenities (slippers & hair conditioner) and Ticino ticket, they were all helpful.

On the arrival day, I walked from the railway station to this hotel, I felt it was farther than I expected because walking down the slope way with stairs to the town from the station with luggage was quite tough for me. But this wasn't a problem on the departure day because I could take a bus to the station for free of charge with the ticino ticket provided from the reception staff.

Such a lovely hotel. Perfectly situated on the waterfront in Lugano's old town, the fairly unassuming exterior only hints at how nice it is inside. There's a beautiful garden with an outdoor pool, a giant chess set and lots of corners to sit and enjoy a drink whilst drinking in the view. Inside, there is a lavishly furnished lounge area with a well-stocked 'honesty bar'. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole stay was a delight. I only had a small room this time without a lake view as it was the last room left, but my colleague had a balcony and said it was fabulous. Would love to come again!

Received a warm welcome from Juliana on reception who showed us the local map and offered suggestions for restaurants. The hotel is grand, old and beautifully appointed. Room was spacious and clean, bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Hotel location is convenient to all Lugano has to offer, including the lake ferry being a 7 minute walk away. Funicular to main train station 5 minute walk from property. Breakfast offerings were plentiful and varied and coffee was great.

Hotel International Au Lac is a special property. The staff made my stay memorable. The front desk staff furnished quick check in, Ticino card, and hotel information. The cleaning staff provided thorough room service. The breakfast waiter and hotel chef gave a great start to every morning. The hotel is well located near public transport, retail, and restaurants.

The hotel is perfectly located, has comfortable rooms and excellent room service, the breakfasts are absolutely delicious - good variety and excellent quality. The pool and the garden are nice. Overall, we found it to be an excellent value for money

The staff are efficient, but could be kinder in terms of being client-oriented - both at the reception desk and in the restaurant. As of now it feels that they are checking the box and not putting client needs first.

Best location, bang in the town and facing the lake. I got a really nice room on the top floor with a lake view so that always helps. I expected the hotel to be a bit old, but i have to say it is really well maintained. It was a pleasant surprise. I got a single room, it was spacious, clean, easy to use, unique sliding cupboard, decent bathroom, AC, quiet room etc. The breakfast was great too, a big hall and many options to chose from. I honestly wondered why this hotel is only a 3 or 4 star at times. Nice pool area, nice sitting area/bar. They even provide a self service bar at night with free tea/coffee, and the rest to be paid by you at the reception later (works on honesty)

Nothing to dislike, except personally i find it inconvenient when the shower is inside the tub itself. But not a very big deal. A very nice stay

Breakfast was reasonable. The 24 hour coffee/tea/water facility on the 1st floor was excellent, and the hotel was very characterful. We also liked the swimming pool and pool bar facility.

The old shower over the bath with shower curtain. I appreciate it will take time and a lot of investment to renovate the bathrooms but a walk-in shower would always be my preference.

We love everything in this hotel. It is charming and full of characters. They share the history of the hotel along the corridor, including some really nice painting. Perfect location to stay in Lugano. Short walk to the shops, restaurant, and supermerket. Big park with playground nearby so you can enjoy the lake walk and finish it off at the park. Lovely breakfast with great service staff. Mini bar in lounge area with complimentary tea and coffee. We stay in family suites at back next to the play area so my son can enjoy himself there with minimum supervision. My room comes with pantry and kitchenette so you can cook if the easy meal if needed.

The service was amazing! Everyone was super nice and helpful. The breakfast was made with all local ingredients/products. The hotel was centrally located and we got a beautiful view of the water and the room was huge!

The hotel is a little bit outdated but it’s also a historic hotel so I wouldn’t say this is a bad thing. May be better they keep as it is since there’s so much history in it!

The location. The honest bar area was comfortable clean and attentive. Breakfast was pleasant and acceptable.

The bed, particularly the mattress was a bit soft. Nonetheless, the accommodations were reasonably comfortable unfortunately, we were unable to use the outside area due to the weather.
