We had a lake view balcony room and wow, it was so beautiful. We could have spent the whole holiday mainly on the balcony the view was just stunning. The shower was clean and good water pressure, quick temp control, nice and spacious. The staff were very friendly. The lifts were quick and functioning well. The location was just excellent, we couldn't fault it one bit. Easy access to transport taking us to Morcote, boatrides, walkable to main town area, mont bre etc.

The hotel was keen on eco friendliness, so the AC stayed off unless the outside temp exceeded 23 degrees with the windows closed. With the windows open it was fairly breezy (end of April to early may) so I found it okay, but my partner really struggled in the room esp overnight as the room temp reached 30 degrees.

We have never been to Lugano and just picked this place randomly. Boy, did we nail it! Great location, great staff, and overall great experience. The place is a total throwback like you are staying in a royal castle or something. We were close to everything and what we weren't close to, the front desk explained how to catch a bus to (which was a short bus ride).

Overall the place was awesome, but the bed was not the most comfortable that I have ever slept on, and, maybe this is a Swiss thing, but there was no top sheet on the bed. Only a bottom sheet, and a comforter that is the exact size of the top of the bed...a bit strange.

We chose Hotel au Lac for its location, pool and excellent reviews. The location is phenomenal, staff were friendly, our extremely large room with a balcony overlooked the lake. It was very clean and staff were friendly and accommodating.

A bottle of water in the fridge/room would have been nice. they do have an honor bar open 24 hours with water, drinks and snacks and there is a fridge in the room. shampoo and conditioner would have been welcomed.

The hotel is fantastic, great location and the amenities in the hotel are fab. My boys loved the honesty bar. This is our second time visiting Lugano and this hotel although rated a 3star was much better than the 4star we used last time. From ping pong tables, go-karts happy hour it really is amazing. Staff we also so friendly and accommodating. Our room was lovely very spacious and boys beds had haribos on them. Can’t recommend it enough. We will definitely be back!

The single room I stayed was a little bit small and outdated but had a balcony with beautiful lake view, I could enjoy the view from the balcony day & night. Breakfast was good, and the self-service drink bar was also nice. I could get from the staff at the reception some additional amenities (slippers & hair conditioner) and Ticino ticket, they were all helpful.

On the arrival day, I walked from the railway station to this hotel, I felt it was farther than I expected because walking down the slope way with stairs to the town from the station with luggage was quite tough for me. But this wasn't a problem on the departure day because I could take a bus to the station for free of charge with the ticino ticket provided from the reception staff.

Great location near the lake and shopping street. I liked the hotel style with a lot of paintings by the walls and the Honesty Bar where you can get drinks (coffee, water, beer, wine etc) and some snacks, it's like minibar but out of the room. The breakfast was basic but still enough to make you not feel hungry. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Also I liked the Art Gallery just few minutes away from hotel where you can easily spend a few hours.

Such a lovely hotel. Perfectly situated on the waterfront in Lugano's old town, the fairly unassuming exterior only hints at how nice it is inside. There's a beautiful garden with an outdoor pool, a giant chess set and lots of corners to sit and enjoy a drink whilst drinking in the view. Inside, there is a lavishly furnished lounge area with a well-stocked 'honesty bar'. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole stay was a delight. I only had a small room this time without a lake view as it was the last room left, but my colleague had a balcony and said it was fabulous. Would love to come again!

A hard downhill walk with many steps from railway station. If you have walking difficulties please get a taxi. Room ready early and reasonable size. Reception staff were excellent, very helpful and happy to answer any questions.

Bar was "honesty" bar so it was soulless with very limited choices, no music and no atmosphere.

Received a warm welcome from Juliana on reception who showed us the local map and offered suggestions for restaurants. The hotel is grand, old and beautifully appointed. Room was spacious and clean, bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Hotel location is convenient to all Lugano has to offer, including the lake ferry being a 7 minute walk away. Funicular to main train station 5 minute walk from property. Breakfast offerings were plentiful and varied and coffee was great.

Hotel International Au Lac is a special property. The staff made my stay memorable. The front desk staff furnished quick check in, Ticino card, and hotel information. The cleaning staff provided thorough room service. The breakfast waiter and hotel chef gave a great start to every morning. The hotel is well located near public transport, retail, and restaurants.
