The staff was exceptional - helpful and friendly. If arriving by car, recommend heading directly to the car park which is just behind the hotel : look out for Sunstar hotel on the right, then turn left and immediately right along Guggengasse and you'll see the private parking spaces of the hotel. Breakfast good with excellent coffee & friendly Jenny to make sure we had everything we needed. Well situated close to town and bus stop just outside hotel. Nice Italian restaurant.

Unfortunately, ther WiFi wasn't working for the 2 nights we stayed there. Our room was on the main road and, although it was quiet during the night, the traffic started around 5h.30 and we needed to keep the windows open as it was very warm.

For two people, the room is quite spacious. The bed is big and comfortable and there is a small sofa, desk and chair with ample space to relax. The bathroom is quite large with a large shower area and you can actually fit two people in the bathroom at the same time. The shower pressure and temperature was good and consistent for the duration of our stay. Even though our room was over looking the Main Street through Grindelwald, on a morning and evening it is very quiet so you don’t hear much noise from the street. The location is great. Very close to supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, shops and the bus stop is 20 metres away from the hotel front door. (It is a very ideal location if you are planning to go up Jungfraujoch. We took the bus to terminal and it took 15 minutes. The staff are very helpful, friendly and always wanting to help. The on site free parking is very convenient and easy. There’s quite a few parking spaces that are a good size.

The breakfast is very very basic. There’s not much to choose from. Bacon and fried eggs, cold cut meats and cheeses, cereal and yoghurts. There’s also a tea/coffee maker and orange juice. The price / value for money is not worth it. We made a decision to spend more than we would usually do, for the convenience of being close to the mountain. As it was expensive we expected a lot more, but we quickly realised we are paying for the location. For the location, there’s not much of a view from the room.

The staff over here are exceptional. My biggest thanks to Simona working there. She was the best and made the whole experience of staying there wonderful. She makes sure that every person who stays there is having a good time. She takes care of everyone like a family and speaks with warmth. If the management is reading this you should really appreciate her personally. She was excellent. Also excellent ladies at the reception. They are so welcoming and kind. This is what I look for in a perfect hotel.

Everything was excellent. Except 2 things. Pillows were tooo thin.

The location of the hotel was perfect, right next to the Grindelwald First cable car. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable. However, the true highlight of this place is the incredible staff. I wish I knew the names of all the wonderful people who work here. The owner’s cousin, in particular, was exceptionally kind and attentive, always making sure we were enjoying ourselves whenever she saw us in the hotel or restaurant. You really felt well cared for. The owner and other staff members also showed genuine interest in our stay and were exceptionally friendly and kind. I 100% recommend this place!

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Steinbock, where we stayed for a night before setting off for a weekend ski tour and night in a mountain hut. The staff were all very friendly and check-in was really easy. The room was a great size and very clean, as was the bathroom, which looked to have been recently refurbished. Even being on the main road and above a restaurant, noise was not an issue at all. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and great value for money. Breakfast was also good and there was a lot of choice. The coffee was great.

We had some special needs due to mobility limitations, and the hotel came up with ways to help us. The hotel staff created a warm, friendly atmosphere. In the five days we were there, we got to know a number of them quite well. The breakfast was excellent, and meals in restaurants were of a good quality. The hotel is right at a bus stop, which makes it easy to go to other parts of Grindelwald and to the railway station.

Location was brilliant with onsite parking. The choice at breakfast was good, something for everyone. The room was a good size and comfortable.

Check in could have been better as there wasn’t anyone around that could talk English so we didn’t have anything explained. The pillows were paper thin. However, we spoke to housekeeping after the first night, they gave us other pillows immediately. The flies at breakfast were an issue for us (all 3 mornings). A couple are understandable but this was far more - hard to want the food when it has flies walking over it !!! This issue could easily be addressed.

Breakfast was fabulous. All local meats and cheeses. Room was lovely as well. Location was great - 10 min walk from the train station. Love that they give you a bus pass a a tourist. Thanks so much!

Our bathroom was beautiful - recently remodeled. I did see mold starting to grow in the shower. It's a humid climate and there was no fan in the shower. It wasn't anything alarming but if you are sensitive to mold, I wanted to make sure to mention it. I meant to mention it to the staff but she was on the phone when we left and I totally forgot. I am positive that they would have listened and remedied.

Out room was right by the parking lot and if we had our windows open people could just see right at the bed or if they wanted, could climb in and join us in bed. I wish there was some more priva

Pro The location is nice , right next to first cliff cable car, lots of shops, restaurants . Room is basic but comfy (I think they newly furnished). Receptionist was kind. Room was spacious.

Cons - no kettle provided - breakfast was bare minimum…We stayed there three days. Not much variety and mostly cold food. (Though bacon and egg should be hot , they were also cold) Bread was cold too, which a toaster there could’ve easily made it slightly better… - the room doesn’t have a Mountain View , we faced the street, but it was blocked by the building in front
