Food was excellent, great choice at Breakfast and Staff were really attentive and helpful. Room was huge, I was provided with a fan ,which was excellent as the weather was really hot. Bed was really comfy. Fluffy Towels and nice Shower Gels n Shampoos.. Tea n Coffee making facilities were excellent !!

Sorry but honest. The Swimming Pool and Gym areas were poor.. The floor tiles around the Pool were slippy ,the Jacuzzi water was extremely cloudy and very difficult to get into ... I felt it all looked tired and uncared for , and certainly needed some upgrading.. The lockers were either broken completely or didn't work properly..the hair dryer pipe had perished and had to be held together and pushed up into the machine for it to blow dry my hair... Generally poor.. it was a shame as it spoilt my experience.

What could be more welcoming than the warm glow of a central log fire lighting the entrance to the hotel that is reminiscent of a period and comfortable Edwardian home being adorned with leather Chesterfield sofas and chairs. Our immediate reaction was wow and to find such a refuge out of the rain and gloom of the fading south Lakeland light was an enormous bonus. The receptionist Kazia (Kate) wore a huge smile and within a minute we were in room 12 to enjoy the benefit of a wonderful room overlooking the large pond that fills the ornate garden below. We discovered a model village occupying the grounds as we drew the curtains back the following morning and found that the hotel nestled in between two local hills that provide a delightful view of the countryside. Just four miles from Bowness and eight from Kendal (18 minutes by car along a winding road) it provided us with an ideal location base to explore and attend the 'Montain Festival' being held there. The evening meal was amazing (I had the lamb and my wife the con Carne) and very well priced given the wide variety of standard fayre and evening specials ( pricing for the mains commenced at around £16 and extended to £26 for a choice cut from the grill). Oliver attended to our needs extremely well and made us feel very much at home in the restaurant/bar. Our room provided a four poster bed that enabled a very comfortable nights sleep that set us up for the following day which commenced with an equally recommended and substantial breakfast. Sadly we were unable to use the leisure facilities due to time constraints in our programme. The staff were tremendous and clearly well managed into an efficient team. Having stayed in several five star establishments across the globe I would regard this hotel as a hidden gem. It may not have the refinements of some, yet if you require the basics done realy really well...then this could be the place for you.

There is nothing to offer that we did not like. I might suggest that the doors to the rooms could be fitted with soft closures and thus reduce the noise somewhat from adjoining rooms in the evening but that is but a trifling matter given the enjoyment we had during our stay.

5 Stars – Perfect Stay! I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Everything exceeded my expectations – from the peaceful and quiet atmosphere to the delicious breakfast served in the morning. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always made me feel welcome. You can really tell they care about making your stay as pleasant as possible. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, calm, and great service. I will absolutely be coming back!

The only thing you can dislike in this place that you need to leave them ....

Breakfast was excellent - good variety and delicious options. Accidentally left my passport in the room and they quickly reached out to me. Fortunately I could come back fairly easily to get it. Really appreciate their quick response!

The grounds were beautiful. We loved relaxing by the lake with the ducks. The room was comfortable and the bath luxurious. The pool was lovely too but could become crowded if several people wanted to use it at the same time. The staff were good with my dog, even when he was a bit shouty.

I felt some judgement from other guests because my dog was nervous and barked a bit, although he was always under control. I feel if there was a way of blocking off some tables would help this, maybe even with a couple of portable screens or something. Not the hotel's fault, but be aware if you don't drive, it is not easy getting out and about. We had to rely on taxis which added a huge cost to our holiday, and one night we were almost stranded in Windermere because taxis were refusing to carry my dog after 6pm.

I loved the gardens around , it's lovely to seat outside. The roo.s are huge. The seating area in front of the loby is so cosy and confy. The spa facilities are first class. Excellent breakfast... lots of tasty options. Service was amazing as well. All the staff super helpful and friendly. We'll definitely come back.

The shower and toilets in the room are very old and it doesn't feel as clean as it should be. Same thing with the carpets. The food at the restaurant in the evening is quiet poor and not tasty. We had dinner there the first day and we preferred not to repeat the experience. However the breakfast (even if it's included) it was very nice.

Great place to stay. Friendly and welcoming staff. Very accommodating with our large family group. Gave us our own lovely, spacious room to enjoy our breakfast and dinner. Staff came in regularly to make sure everything was ok, providing tea and coffee pots. Arron was very helpful during our stay and his colleagues but didn't manage to get their names. Lobby area was very welcoming with a log fire burning in the evening when the temperature dropped.. Great location with beautiful, serene grounds. Would highly recommend this place.

Some rooms had thin walls so noise could be heard from adjacent rooms depending on the location of the room.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Hotel. The view from the restaurant looking over the duck pond was beautiful. The staff were really friendly and provided fabulous service. The Restaurant and Bar were really good. Breakfasts and evening meals were nice and a welcome treat after getting loads of steps in around the lake district. The bar had a good selection and the draught Guiness was spot on. The large double bed in our room was so comfortable. Can't fault the price we had for the 3 nights and we would definitely come back.

Noisy corridors due to slamming doors and noisy cleaning staff. Check in was 3pm but we couldn't manage a snooze after a long drive even at 4pm due to cleaning noise over our 3 day stay. Hotel states Bowness on Windermere but it's a good 10 minute drive to get there. We didn't go on walks from the hotel as there were no paths on the tight 60mph country roads. Shower was weak and the TV signal was poor and kept jumping so we didn't bother watching it.

The pool is great for kids. The pond and ducks/ducklings are great for all. Our room was a little tired and old fashioned, but our second family room (separate booking) was modern. The room was functional and clean. Staff were great, very accepting of a large family group (7).

Pots of coffee and tea may not be practical for the staff, but if you drink a lot of coffee, you feel a burden on the staff asking for refills every 5 minutes. I was very happy with the food (pictured), but half of the family weren't satisfied with either the portions, the quality or the taste. Food is subjective after all.
