Perfect location for all amenities. Lovely vintage hotel.

When we arrived we had no heating in our attic room. Number 327. We mentioned it to reception and was told heating it was on a timer. When we arrived back in later that night it was still cold. I tried ringing reception but on one answered. When we mentioned it again when checking out, was told the heating was not on a timer, but on constant. So, therefore in March, stayed in a cold room. I would like this to be treated as a complaint not a review.

Great hotel well away from the seagulls yes you hear a few but none are nested on the hotel and only hear them if windows are open..bed was a little uncomfortable too soft for me (never the same when your not sleeping in your own) toilet seat was loose but apart from that perfect oh and a very very small elevator bar open till 2.00 am very close to beach 0.5 miles better off walking to tram lift and then onto beach ..loved it here and staff very friendly especially if you can play the piano

No signal in scarborough for Internet but the hotel has good WiFi and you can connect to the free north Yorkshire Internet

Perfectly placed close enough to the beach but far enough away from the hussle and bussle for a quiet relaxing stay. Only five minute walk to the Victorian Tram which we used a lot! Bed really comfy, staff helpful. They don't do food but have a full list of recommendations for breakfast and dinner. Advance reservation of parking is essential as there are not many spaces.

A little disappointed that the balcony had no furniture, was under the impression we would be able to sit out on it.

Lovely and sizeable room, good location near the Railway Station close to South Bay and quite near the North Bay on the upper level near the town centre, helpful staff. I wiIl certainly use the hotel again for visits to the cricket - about 20 mins walk away.

The only downside is that there doesn't appear to be any breakfast facility. I'm not bothered about this myself - but some kind of arrangement could be arranged for a continental breakfast (cereals, say) in the room or something, There is a bar in the hotel.

Lovely sized room. Windows that open to allow fresh air in. Clean bed and room. Lovely sitting rooms to use downstairs. Staff were friendly and helpful.

For the size of the room a kingsize bed would have been more suitable and comfortable. Some channels on the tv had bad signal, could not watch catch up. With the glass shower screen being fitted, it would be better to have a hand held shower head sprayer as I had to stand in the bath just to wash my hair and this was not ideal with having mobility issues. When guests are staying 2 nights or more it would be a lot easier if you put 3 days replenished refreshments in the room. It was embarrassing to ask for milk and teabags each say.

This is our second visit to this lovely period hotel and it did not disappoint! This time we took along some family members who loved the hotel also. The dog likes it too as it is has big spacious rooms, cosy and comfy. Justine was at front desk to greet us and made sure our short stay was exceptional. The staff were all incredibly helpful, friendly and happy to accomodate. We love the old victorian feel of this hotel and in the lounge/bar area it was great to meet up with travellers and have a chat and sing song on the piano after a day out trekking and taking in the sights. We love this hotel and will be regular visitors when we come to visit sunny Scarborough next.

Would have been great to have had the option of an english breakfast but there are cafes all around the vicinity of the hotel to choose from.

Lovely building in a great location close to shops restaurants and bars. Just a short walk to the cliff lift to take you down to the beach and esplanade. I particularly liked the quirky interior decor in the public rooms maybe not to everyone’s taste but it really suits such a grand building top marks. Our room was large bright with high ceilings and plenty of storage the en-suite was huge and the all round cleanliness was good. There is limited car parking out front but plenty of good options close by. The bar stocks a good range of drinks and is comfortable if quiet. Big plus are the staff all of whom we encountered were charming, polite, approachable and ready to help with any of your needs. We had a good stay and would not hesitate to return if in the area again.

As mentioned in my 10+ reviews for over 3-years staying at the Central Hotel: - the staff is always exceptional, courteous and helpful - the specific preferred rooms I requested were always acknowledged or I was compensated for - front hotel parking is accommodated though it depends on the parking skills of the hotel guests - rooms are always comfortable - Samsung TVs with apps held my interest - great Wi-Fi signal for my work related tasks - excellent location to walk to Scarborough city centre and train station - plenty of current pubs to visit.

As mentioned above, the front hotel parking is very accommodated though it depends on the parking skills of the hotel guests. They never park correctly in the 3-years I’ve been staying here. I now remember but didn’t ask the front desk… One issue I found with my current work trip, I couldn’t locate the HVAC remote control to activate the heating aspect of the overhead HVAC unit. The heating radiators were not heating up at all during my stay this time.

The staff were absolutely amazing, I contacted them prior to arrival to ask for a room accessible by lift as I was staying with a baby and toddler, they were able to confirm this and put me in a room right next to lift. They also provided a cot for my baby. On arrival about 10am they were happy for me to leave my bag until check in time and noticing I was struggling with pram on gravel offered me an alternative entrance which was much easier. Both the man in the morning and the lady in the evening were so friendly and helpful, they even recommended a lovely cafe for breakfast. The room itself was very spacious, with plenty of room for a double bed, cot, sofa, wardrobe and desk. There was a shower over bath in the ensuite which I prefer with little ones, there was a little rust in the bottom of the bathtub but no mold anywhere, the room seemed very clean to me. I absolutely would stay here again

The lift is absolutely tiny but nothing can be done in a lovely old building just something to keep in mind

Reception people brilliant; friendly and helpful. The hotel was advertised as dog friendly and indeed was. The boys were made very welcome and the enclosed garden/patio area and park across the road were great for them. The room was very large and comfortable, enough for 2 adults and 2 medium size dogs. The bar area was really pleasant, albeit under used (see below)

There was no food available. They did have information on good places to eat, although that is not always easy with pets. A few take away menu's would help. The hotel could do more to make the lovely bar area and patio a social place that encourages guests in to socialise. Having said the area could be better the actual crescent was lovely. Perhaps a link up with the Crescent Hotel down the road, that does do food and has a good cellar, night time bar with some live music, on occasions to make the Central the day time place and quiet evening place, including light bar snacks (sandwiches, cakes etc.) and the Crescent the night time place, for dinner and livelier times, could be considered. This could help both hotels and guests to enjoy the lovely Crescent area.
