We didn’t have breakfast The location is superb with even free parking a short walk away. We ate at the Orchid restaurant one evening and had a fabulous meal. We would fully recommend it. The staff were mostly helpful & friendly

Our room wasn’t made up after our first night’s stay (we were there for 4 nights). A note was pushed under the door to say that as we hadn’t hung out the “make up room” sign, it wasn’t cleaned! We have travelled the world and have never experienced this. We understand the policy in hotels to save the environment and always hang up our towels and ask for the bed not to be changed but housekeeping always visit the room to make the bed, refresh the cups, replenished tea etc. In our experience, the sign is used when you want your room made up at an unusual time or have missed the maid, not for everyday use. If the hotel wants to use this method then it should be made clear on check in. Without this we would have given a higher score

This hotel is perfect for the solo traveller: the staff immediately made me feel welcome as did the team down in the restaurant: the location is brilliant as you are in the centre of town very quickly (even for a near octogenarian) the mercer gallery & the valley gardens are very close & parking was not difficult. I will be back.

My sole comment would be that hanging on the door is a ‘do not disturb’ note but I failed to look on the reverse side which requests that your room be cleaned…. I received a very nice note later in the day but by then it was too late. A very small comment in an otherwise perfect stay.

The room was spacious and clean but very hot until we turned down the radiator. The bed and pillows were comfortable and we were provided with a variety of hot drinks with biscuits and water. We had plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. The bathroom was a little tight for space but very nicely finished. We pre-booked a parking space and this was clearly marked when we arrived. This was a big reason for us to choose this hotel. Breakfast arrived quickly and was well prepared and enjoyable. The staff without exception were friendly, cheerful and efficient and really helped to make our stay a good one. Overall a very good stay.

I wouldn't say there was anything we actually disliked. The prices in the bar were a little on the high side for us but that seemed to be the case pretty well everywhere we visited during our break.

A pleasant experience. The hotel is a lovely old property that retains some charming original features. While the interiors and furniture are a bit dated, the cleanliness and maintenance of the place was good. The room was warm and comfortable, and the updated bathroom was a nice touch. The price we paid was a good offer for what we received. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would recommend it and stay there again 😊

Couldn’t see if toiletries were cruelty free. Plant base milk option that I requested was missing on arrival. Orchid restaurant had little to no plant base options. Yet to find out what a £12 fee was taken from my account was for.

Location was perfect. Not too far to walk to get to places in the town. The bed was very comfy and the double headed shower was fab. The staff were friendly, polite and attentive. The bar was pleasant and the cocktails were lovely. Breakfast was delicious.

The lift wasn't available and there's a lot of stairs. The room was very warm and the tower fan was too noisy to leave on. The motion sensor for the bathroom light wasn't brilliant and kept turning the light off when I was in the shower. It was good to see the file about the hotel in my room. But it could've done with information about local tourist areas too.

It was a last minute decision and one of my best, although the limited car park was full, it was easy to park on the road outside. Our room was stated to be small, but was plenty big enough and had more than we needed. We tried the Orchid in house restaurant, it is a mixed Asian style and offers superb food at a good price. We went for a walk and was surprised how close we were to the centre and park. It is a lovely hotel, in a great position and we were very pleased we experienced it, I was really surprised with it being so central, how quiet it was outside, no busy road or shouting, I would highly recommend this great hotel.

There was nothing to really dislike, if I was being really picky, the bed could have had more corner support, but I slept well.

Late night check in, accommodating, we booked in at 11pm as we needed to stay somewhere the man on reception was very welcoming and helpful, he was very polite and accomdated to our every need. We didnt expect much with it being late at night and thought we would struggle. There was no problems what so ever booking in. The reception area was greatly decorated with a lovely calm feeling to it and very welcoming. Rooms was lovely and spacious with a great bathroom. Well decorated and had every we needed.

The bed was quite uncomfortable and hard to sleep on wich gave myself and my partner backache.

All was just perfect.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy check in. Pre booked private parking. Excellent modern bathroom. Room quite small, but comfortable . Water, kettle etc available in room. Nice bar. Very good Thai restaurant (requires booking). Pleasant cooked breakfast at additional cost, but good value. The hotel is very centrally located with all shops, bars, restaurants within easy walking distance.

If you have mobility problems request a room on the 1st or 2nd floor. I was on the 4th floor and it is a bit of trek with luggage up narrow stairs and corridors. Lift only goes to 2nd floor. Wifi generally was pretty good, but again being on the fourth floor about the furthest room away , it was a bit sketchy. The car park is very tight and small, so make sure you reserve or use a parking permit available from reception

We booked a superior room which was spacious with a very comfortable queen size bed. The modern bathroom had a bath as well as a shower. Plenty of light from the windows. Good quality fittings and generous storage space, both hanging and drawers provided in the bedroom. As the room was in the attic space of the property we still had good windows which due to this being an older property could be opened and also gave a nice view over the town. Parking can be reserved in the hotel's own car park - although this is quite small. There is also a popular Pan Asian restaurant called Lotus on site.

As our bedroom was on the top floor and with this being an old property we did have a lot of stairs to climb as the lift didn't go to the top of the property.
