Friendly helpful staff. Well-managed motel near Old Monterey. One can bike or walk along adjacent amazing Monterey Bay Coastal Trail to Cannery Row, Aquarium, Pacific Grove, and on, and on! We rented E-bikes at Mad Dogs & Englishmen Bikeshop on Cannery Row and had wonderful day of riding the 17-Mile Trail. That nite, had tacos and good beer at Dust Bowl Brewery near motel! (Steinbeck and the Doc loved beer!)

A value stay just a short walk from the boardwalk and a stone throw away from the bay! Ideal place to stay and call home for one night stay as you drive through the bay. Comfortable, clean, and well kept facilities. The check in process was smooth and friendly. Great price if booked well in advance and especially with Booking discount!

The rooms closest to the bay will be subject to car traffic noise. Not a deal breaker but it is noticeable in the evenings. Also, the wall insulation is a bit thin, if you're unlucky to share a wall with a neighbor not not mindful of TV volume or other interesting noises. ;-)

Location is great. We paid extra for a room with a tub and fireplace but didn't use either. Access to the courtyard from Room 100 is a bit cumbersome. Next time we will ask for a room that opens onto the pool area (e.g.102) directly. Loved the fireplace and the attentiveness of the staff who managed the flame. My husband asked them to check for a jacket he thought he had left, and they couldn't have been nicer.

Other guests do not obey parking signs. We had to park on the street each night.

Clean rooms. Great location. Comfortable bed. Nice that they had an extra fan. Loved the size of the mini fridge and freezer. Real glasses. There were a lot of special and thoughtful touches. Loved the seating facing the pool. We took a Lyft to dinner at Cannery Row and it was less than $10. Great location.

Weird art that didn't match the decor of the room. When coming up the stairs to the second floor there was a weird passage that was tight. It wasn't clear where the front of the room was if you'd never been there before. That's not the hotel's fault.

It was a very quaint older property and although dated it retains its character and was very clean and well looked after. We were nicely surprised by the pool which was lovely after a long drive and we were within walking distance of eateries and the pier. After reading all the comments regarding AC our opinion was that it wasn’t needed the climate was cooler and plenty of fresh air. A very enjoyable stay and we wished we had stayed for a couple of nights. The staff were lovely and friendly as well

We stayed in 104, a king room that opens to the garden courtyard which is peaceful and beautifully maintained. Yes, this is an older property that has been nicely renewed. So the bathroom is a bit tight, but freshly updated and adequate. The bed was super comfy. We like the location that is close to the bike path and .6 mile to the warf.

The tap water taste is awful, not the hotel's fault. Use bottled water. A light in the ceiling fan would improve lighting in the room.

Old style motel but nicely refurbished in the rooms, which were clean and had comfortable beds, nice large TV screen. Was also very quiet. The pool area was clean, closed off, and very pleasant. We used the heated outdoor pool and spa on 3 out of 4 days. Definitely the best motel we've stayed at yet in Monterey both because of above and location (the rest are out on Munras Ave, whereas this place is walking distance to the bay and Fisherman's Wharf)

No problems honestly.

The hotel is in an excellent location right across the street from the beach and just a few minutes walking to the pier. From the pier they have a free shuttle that takes you around Monterey if that interests you. It is also less than a 5 minute drive to Alvarado Street that has lots of dining available. The outdoor area pool, hot tub and fire pits are so nice and we really enjoyed that area. The rooms are nice and clean. Nothing special and a little dated but comfortable. I will also say that they had multiple mirrors in the room and that is nice to have when getting ready and sharing a room.

My biggest problem with the room was that it doesn't have an air conditioner and I suppose it was my fault for not reading the fine print that some rooms don't have air conditioning. They do have windows in the front of the room and sliding glass doors on the back but the problem is that the slider is accessible to anyone off the street so you really can't sleep with the windows open for the breeze or leave them open when you are out to keep the room from getting stuffy. They did provide a fan but it was the worst fan I've ever used and on full strength it provided zero air flow if you weren't standing immediately next to it you wouldn't even know it was on. Moral of the story I would stay there again but I would make sure I was in an air conditioned room.

I really like this hotel. It’s very small but just right for us. The location is very nice, the reason we come back. Right across from Denise the Menace Park and close to the pier.

My only negative really is no ac! It’s extremely humid in the rooms at night. The room has a rotating fan, and even with the windows left open it’s not really what I’d say is comfortable. During the day we kept the sliding door open with just the screen closed. It was nice cool air coming in! But after an hour or so of keeping it closed in the night it would be thick air inside.

Comfy beds, good sized fridge, nice coffee and warm jacuzzi. Situated opposite the beach and within easy walking distance of everything. A great base for a few days of exploring.

We were in a downstairs room and could hear the people above us walking around a lot. Didn't bother us too much as we're early risers but maybe book sn upstairs room or a single storey room if it might disturb you x
