We came back to Sonnwendhof third time and it is always perfect! It is perfect welcoming, great rooms and astonishing views, very close to everything you might need, amazing breakfast with multiple choices and some very local products. I like how everything is decorated in the hotel and how ladies working at the hotel care about their guests. It is definitely one of the best family hotels in Switzerland. Engelberg guest card would be timely arranged. Free parking in front of the hotel. I guess we forgot to pay for the city taxi before leaving but my card was charged without any unnecessary stress.

It was very convenient 2 minutes walk from the train station, check at the counter-in staff were very polite and concerned about our arrangements for this trip and were happy to give us advice, into the room to see the attentive welcome words, and the sofa bed was ready for my two children. The breakfast was also plentiful, we stayed 2 nights and loved the hotel very much.

After booking, I received a message from a hacker using the hotel's email and Booking.com asking me to give my credit card information, which I think the hotel and Booking.com need to pay close attention to

Sonnwendhof is a great place for family visit to Engelberg in summer or winter. It has everything you may possibly need: hearty breakfast (many local products - cheese, jam, honey, bread, juice, etc.), indoor playroom for small children, ski room (if you come for winter holidays), sauna (ready in 15 minutes) and relaxing room, supermarket is 8 min walking distance away, some good restaurants are just around the corner. Titlis funicular is 8 min away by foot, Brunnibahn is 1.5km away and Fürenalp is 5 km. You get Engelberg tourist card, which allows you to use a bus for free and get small discount on funiculars. All ladies working at the hotel are very friendly. We could have had an earlier check in, if we needed it. Free parking is just in front of the hotel.

It could have been a bit cheaper but at the end you pay for the quality.

I stayed 3 nights at Hotel Sonnwendhof (in the summer) and I had an amazing time and would definitely stay again. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, the hotel is located perfectly for walks/hikes/different gondolas up the mountains, and the hotel was very dog friendly, making it the best stay for my pup! The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice, there’s free parking outside the hotel, and my room was cleaned beautifully every day. I had a balcony that overlooked the mountains… perfect for a tea/coffee in the morning. The hotel offer dinner at their sister property, otherwise you’re surrounded by many other restaurants to choose from. I highly highly recommend staying at Hotel Sonnwendhof.. the value for money is excellent.

The bed is comfortable but the pillows are too soft.

We have booked this place for 2 families quite spontaniously. Our stay was a pleasant experience from A-Z. I want to highlight the friendly messages before the stay, the welcome letter on the bed and the mirror, the play room for the kids, the breakfast with smilies on the eggs and the delicious croissants and the exquisite Sauna facility. The location right at the train station is a big plus too. We felt very comfortable and home at Sonnenwendehof. Oh and that I do not forget to mention: The late check out was a real treat. Thanks for this.

The only suggestion that I have is providing a small fridge. Especially traveling with kids, one always carry around snacks that need to be stored appropriately.

The hotel is in a quiet location but very convenient for shops, restaurants & the station. Such a friendly team at the Sonnwendhof, nothing is too much trouble & a fabulous breakfast buffet too. The rooms are spacious & comfortable. We have stayed here before & we’re happy to return

A minor criticism but I got too many emails & messages about my stay. I nearly missed the mail with the link to our guest cards because there were so many other notifications.

Great breakfast and nice / spacious bedrooms. But the best was the friendly staff. They were all very attentive and upon arrival (we arrived a bit late at night) everything was ready for us, including a welcome note both at the reception and the room. Thank you!

It would be amazing if they also offered dinner at the same hotel. The partner hotel / restaurant is very nice but walking there with the small kids takes a while, especially if they are tired from the day.

We stayed 3 days at Hotel Sonnwendhof and I can definitely recommend it as for a short stay and for a long vacation. The hotel is very well maintained! The people, who work there really care about their customers making them comfortable as home. The room we had was spacious, with a balcony and comfy bed. The hotel has an inside children entertaining room. Breakfast is excellent and oriented for kids as well. It offers many local goods. The restaurant offers a 3 course dinner at St. Josefshaus hotel, which was pretty decent and not expensive. There are a lot of hiking trails around Engelberg including Titlis - 3000 meters above sea level. You can find easy routes with kids and a lot of options for experienced hikers. Coop supermarket is a in a walking distance as well as Engelberg's public pool. And the hotel has its own sauna! We would definitely get back to the hotel another time!

Clean and superb breakfast choices. Just beside the train station and a 5 mins walk to gondola ride up to Titlis.Very helpful and friendly staff😻We came late at 2300 and has easy access to the hotel.

Nothing but just a suggestion to have a kettle and cup and saucer in the room so guests can make their own tea especially for late check in like us.

Breakfast was great the first morning. Room was basic but okay. 15% discount on ski gear rental at the ski shop around the corner.

Breakfast the second day was scarce with food, probably because there were less people staying in the hotel, but still. We loved the breads the first day. But none was left the second.
