The location is absolutely magic in all aspects, and the charming house is beautifully decorated with a really comfortable bed. Even though Il geco doesn’t offer actual breakfast, there was both juice, yoghurt and water in the fridge in addition to cookies available in the kitchen corner. There was also a really great coffe machine and possibilities to make several different tea.

Il Geco boasts access to parking, but since it’s situated in the old town with restricted parking possibilities, I had to park quite a long way away. But this will count for all accommodation in the old city center - and it is definitely worth it! I managed bringing my luggage to the house within 10 minutes walk, but it was quite steep and a bit tricky because I ended up choosing a route that consisted mainly of steps. I discovered afterwards I could have chosen a road without steps, so that would be something to remember for new visitors.

Before we even arrived, any questions that we had online were replied to quickly and clearly by Daniela. When we arrived, she had supplied the fridge with enough breakfasts for us for the whole time we were there. The apartment is situated in an excellent area for restaurants… Within walking distance to the new town where there is a supermarket… But also not up too many steps so when you arrive you don’t have to drag your suitcase miles. Unfortunately on day one we had a problem with our fridge… And I always say things happen, it’s how they get fixed which is important. Daniela was right on it and fixed it as soon as she knew that there was an issue and without hesitation changed everything that was in the fridge from the previous day… Excellent recovery couldn’t ask for more. As far as the building goes itself it is a classic home with vaulted ceilings tastefully decorated and a lovely balcony to enjoy tea in the afternoon much to the envy of passes by… We particularly enjoyed that bit. I would definitely recommend this property… Daniela has done an excellent job.

What an amazing experience staying in this beautiful apartment in Matera. Our hosts went above and beyond to make sure we found the place very easily and that we had everything we could possibly need. G7 was being held while we were there and Daniella kept us updated on the closures and even provided us with lunch due to restaurants being closed. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was amazing. This is one of the best places we have stayed in all our travels. It deserves higher than ten out of ten. Fantastic location too

Small but perfect for a visit to fabulous Matera. Despite being tiny the space was very well organised, comfortable and equipped with everything you might need. Providing milk, yoghurt, cake etc was a nice touch and Daniella's instructions and information re parking for free close by were very helpful.

The location is excellent, as we were in the heart of Matera, with everything within a short walk (we even had a great ice cream place 20 m from our accommodation). Bonus points for the balcony! The host was extremely kind and the communication went beyond expectations, from how to get to the property, organizing a shuttle from Bari or finding good restaurants in the area.

Only one think would have made the location perfect for us, as we are traveling with a one year old: a way to cook food, besides the microwave, but we only stayed for a few days, so it was alright.

The location was great for exploring the old city with lots of restaurants and shops near by. It was clean. The host was helpful in getting us a cab at the end of our stay that made it easier to get out of the restricted zone(ZTL).

The property was a bit hard to find as the GPS could not accurately pinpoint the location. The host did provide additional information to help locate the property but would only give the address the morning of arrival and only via WhatsApp, so there was no chance to pre-check your mapping and were unable to access the information if you did not use WhatsApp. The apartment was not equipped with some necessities available in most rentals lacking even a stove top or hot plate and some basic kitchen utensils. There was only limited space to put your cloths and other things.

Everything! Start with amazing host, who provides full instruction from parking to how to get to Airbnb. It was helpful 1000%. Very friendly and easy to communicate as well. Then, accommodation itself was amazing. Bed and pillows were comfy. Host provided breakfast very generously. Bathroom was 👍🏻 We’ve been travelling Italy over a week, this was and has been the one and only bathroom that didn’t smell like (even slightly) sewer or wet. It was such a comfortable and pleasant stay. We loved location as well. It’s about 500m walking from private garage but I found that’s pretty normal if you wanna stay close to center while travelling in Italy. It’s close to anywhere you wanna go, lots of good restaurants nearby. Wish we stayed longer. That’s my only regrets. Beautiful town. Stay here and enjoy feeling of being in the center of historical place

The place is perfect for experiencing living in a Sassi dwelling, with the comforts of our modern world, like air conditioning, hot water, modern batroom and comfy bedding 😃 We were very happy with our stay, and the location is perfect since the walk from the parking outside of the historic village is only about 7 minutes, and you will be right inside this magical place called Sassi di Matera. The owner is very proactive and communicates well all directions for checking in, checking out and was very attentive checking with us every day if we needed anything, from towels, to cleaning, to restocking anything. Great lodging to immerse in this out-of-this-world place.

Nothing! It really offers all what you need for a couple of days to enjoy Sassi di Matera. Just a suggestion: travel light! We were so happy we did. Walking stairs up and down this town with heavy luggage must be a nightmare 😅

Location perfecto everything at your doorstep, in the heart of Sassi di Matera, all facilities within easy walking distance restaurants also choice of bakerys outside the doorway. Welcome gift of focaccia and bottle of spritz on arrival🥰, early check in was greatly appreciated. Beautiful location for evening walking. Cave living is really cool 😎 all facilities within flat excellent, owners always in touch incase requirements needed. Plenty of breakfast supply and coffee, information a plenty about parking and how to get to accommodation, just those little things make it a memorable stay ☺️.

Courtyard area could do with a little clean up but no biggie still nice to seat and relax 😊

We had a beautiful room, with excellent facilities such as a.full sized fridge, sink, coffee maker, and a bathroom with an excellent shower. We loved the decor. The communication with Daniela was exceptional. Well ahead of our trip, she provided us with so much information about the property, including a video to show exactly how to find the accommodation. Food for breakfast was provided. The location was stunning.
