The location was great, best sleep we had in Sri Lanka rooms were really nice temperature great beds, nice hotel

Staff were a bit weird, the doorman closes the shutters early and then you feel like you have to ask permission to leave and come back late, doesn’t feel easy to get in and out in the evening, which was a downer on a really good stay. the rooftop is also a bit rubbish, dirty pool and area, pictures make it look better

Clean pool but tiny, rooms basic but very clean, we booked with no AC but had good fan, staff member on reception was very lovely and catered for all our needs, exceptionally good sri Lankan breakfast(at extra cost).

Construction work directly below so quite noisy in the morning . Guy at hotel organized a car for us to ella.price given. miscomunication from him to driver meant we were going to be let off at nurwara Elia, and had to end up paying 9000 rupees more for trip. Driver friendly but dodgy driver AF, got fined by police on way to ella. Just a misunderstanding but stressful at the time.

Great central location, very close to the train station. Staff very helpful and friendly, think it’s a family run business. Laundry service available and good price. Free WiFi was good. Call to prayer was very loud at about 5am every day, very annoying. This was during Ramadan so not sure if different in other times. However I imagine other hotels will also have this issue. Overall I think this is a good option for the price point - my main criteria were somewhere central with air con and a pool and it ticks those boxes at a good quality. Food - We had breakfast sometimes, had a variety of western options but I’d really recommend trying the local breakfast. Options include string hoppers (pre order day before) or paratha with curries and they were outstanding. Good coffee available - French press which is ideal for me. Also espresso based options but I didn’t try these. Rooms - Our room was a deluxe one, it was very late, comfortable beds, very good air conditioning, large and modern shower/toilet room. Our one was inside view so no natural light. Had a blind for the window that goes to the hallway (which admittedly has some natural light) but we kept this closed as didn’t like the idea of people walking past. Pool - For fellow westerners who like sunbathing the pool area is quite small. Pool itself is ok for me as I don’t really swim as much as stand in it and enjoy the (incredible) views. But the seating area is small with no sun loungers just chairs - photos attached. However, I did find I could lie down on these and I’m 6ft 2, and used a t shirt as a bit of a pillow on the armrest and it was actually ok. Alternatively each chair has a small pull out table/foot stool which you could use to rest your feet on. I never saw anyone use the pool and when I used it I was alone so there was no competition for space.

Staff were so welcoming and kind, both at the front desk and in the restaurant. Nice large room - the entrance was a bit deceptive, once you opened the door there was a ton of space. Bathroom equally roomy. Excellent wifi connection and speed, which wasn’t always the case in Sri Lanka Rooftop restaurant was great, food was terrific and well priced by local standards. For general hotel pricing it was insanely cheap. Location was good, short walk to station and centre of city. Also, the building is set back slightly off the street which cut right down on neighbourhood noise. A most restful and relaxing spot

If you’re a light sleeper, try and get a room on the 3rd floor or above. The way the hotel is setup you take a flight of stairs up to the lift on the 2nd floor, and there are rooms close to the staircase and lift which could disturb light sleepers.

I had a wonderful time staying at Sevana City Hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The rooms were very good—clean, comfortable, and had a charming atmosphere that made my stay enjoyable. The hotel's location was super convenient, making it easy to travel to the city and explore the area. The food was good, but I think there’s a little room for improvement to make it even better. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!

Great location, 5 min walk into central Kandy. We arrived at 0630 and were able to check into our room much earlier than the usual 1400 (also kindly upgraded for free). Everything worked - air con/tv etc. The breakfasts on the rooftop restaurant were excellent and staff were super helpful inside the hotel and with recommendations for our stay in Sri Lanka. Swimming poole on the rooftop would be perfect for cooling off - we had solid rain so not required! Overall, highly recommended and would stay again, thank you!

Nothing negatives, a great stay!

Good sized room. Hotel close to the train station and all the main sights/ attractions. Air con worked well. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the rooftop restaurant- which was of a high quality. Staff were welcoming, and arranged tickets for the Kandy Cultural show.

The air con started leaking after a few hours so had to be turned off. You can’t use the balcony to sit on/smoke. Some city noise but not too bad. No TV. Pool could be cleaner but was fine.

Great location and amenities in a large hotel. Extra points for having a drinking water fountain and reusable bottles available for guests in the hall! That alone makes the place worth it. We arrived late at night and left early in the morning so i can’t speak to the pool and lounge areas, but the front desk staff and security staff were wonderful. The budget twin room was very basic and quite small, but we knew that going in - every other room was booked. The room had everything we needed, the bathroom was clean and decent, and we had enough space for our luggage which we didn’t expect from a budget room. Good value for money.

Our room was in the third floor and the elevator only goes from the second floor upwards, so we had to climb two flights of stairs with all our luggage. The staff helped with the bigger backpack though, that was very kind of them. It’s a large hotel so it can feel a bit like a maze navigating to the room. Even though it was a Budget Room, they could have provided a kettle and tea cups and a hair dryer, which even the most basic rooms have, but as the hotel was fully book they might not have had one to spare. Perhaps they would have provided one otherwise, as the staff was super nice.

The hotel was perfectly situated, hidden of busy road with lots of local places to eat. The staff were super helpful and friendly, water refills were a perfect addition. Rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Rooftop was nice for a drink, food ok. Would reccomend to anyone wanting to stay in Kandy for a few days. Additionally Bali the tuktuk driver works for the hotel was amazing, knew everything about the area, showed us round, helped us with trains. He really made our stay in Kandy so much better.

We loved staying in Sevana Hotel.We got big double room with view on the Main Street which was interesting to watch.Central Location,close to walk everywhere,shops and restaurants around.Room very clean,big comfortable bed,kettle with coffee/tea.Refilling water.Stuff of the hotel was really nice and polite.We had breakfast few times at the hotel and it was really big and delicious.Biggest THANK YOU to the wonderful manager of the restaurant Jaianter who has exceptional manners and was taking care of us in the best ever way! Would definitely stay again!!!
