We loved our loft room and everything about it. Loved the old pub and a lovely village and all the history. The girls were great that served us. Loved the choice and quality of breakfast. Didn’t have dinner there but all looked lovely. Bed linen and beds were fabulous. Fresh milk - hooray - and plenty of it instead of the awful little sachets that are so common these days. We were really happy with our stay

Only two ordinary tea bags for our stay! But soon given more when we asked A lot of hair on the bathroom floor that wasn’t ours! And a lot of cobwebs too! Lovely jams but no marmalade for breakfast?

Quaint olde worldly Pub/Hotel in a nice Picturesque Village. There are nice walks from he Hotel. Breakfast was also good with quality produce.

I would not describe the Hotel as spotless as although the bedding, towels etc were nice and clean - and good quality, there was a fair bit of dust, both in the room and around the Hotel. Also, would have been better for us if Breakfast was served earlier as they serve from 9.00am which meant we sat round for an hour or so before we could go in.

We went to the Country for a break from the Town. The location close to the Downs and charm of the historic Inn and surrounding village was outstanding. The breakfast of stewed fruit followed by croissant and coffee was excellent.

This wasn't the Hilton but that is not what we wanted. It was lovely. Comfortable. Friendly and more than met our requirements and wishes.

Good location in the centre of the small village of Firle. Good sized bedroom with good shower. Friendly staff. Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious, a good choice of wine and drinks and the serving staff (Poppy) very helpful. The breakfast menu choice was much better than just the usual standard English breakfast offering, plus the choice of pastries, juices etc was well presented, plus a selection of newspapers.

The pub didn't seem to have its own car park, therefore its a case of finding a parking space in the village. As we were walking the South Downs Way it would have been great if the Breakfast Room could have opened at 8am, rather than 9am, so that we could have started walking earlier, but other than that all good and recommend a stay at this pub.

A great location and a splendid breakfast. The rooms are well equipped with modern decor in a pleasing contrast to the old world pub environment. A good range of local beers and good staff.

A more flexible approach to early check in would be helpful to visitors and staff who appeared to have little discretion. We were staying in order to attend an afternoon performance at Glyndebourne and wanted to change after travelling. I called to ask for early check in at 2pm to be offered this for £35 a room. This comes across as greedy not hospitable. Whilst we were able to access 1 room of 3 at 2pm on the day 'as a favour' the others were not offered despite appearing to be ready for occupancy. An avoidable poor first impression

The breakfast was excellent and the 2 evening meals we had were outstanding.

Our room (Bluebell) had been recently refurbished and they were still awaiting delivery of a TV. Rather cramped and the manager took our comments and suggestions on board. It's an old building, attractive to look at and eat in, but at night the wooden floors creaked - particularly the room above us. A few rugs might help.

Quaint little pub in a tiny village beautifully decorated with friendly staff. Our room was well appointed, clean and quiet with a comfy bed. The Sunday roast pork for dinner was exceptional, the sticky toffee pudding to die for and the cooked breakfast was generous and delicious. Firle is a delightful village and it was everything we’d hoped for in a pub stay on our road trip.

Staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly. The bedrooms were small but lovely and quiet. The pub/restaurant has a great rustic feel and the food was excellent!

There was a great wine selection however quite expensive. The room right at the top had ceiling beams that were very low meaning that anyone average height and above had to bend each time. The stairs up to this room were also quite steep, it would benefit from a hand rail.

The ram was truly excellent and the staff wonderful.

The only issue is that the extractor for the bathroom seemed to extract into the flue, and so there was a lot of ash in the bathroom. It’s also potentially a carbon monoxide issue so probably needs looking at!
