Vicorian splendour at it's best, exquisite dining at Marabelle and great leisure facilities.

Breakfast in the Garden restaurant was somewhat chaotic. The waiting staff were doing their best but there was no supervision and for some there was definitely a training need. The staff were polite but the service was very slow and sporadic, we like a leisurely breakfast but our breakfast experience wes taken to another level. We noticed several incorrect breakfast orders being served to unsuspecting guests, we are unsure whether this was a waiting or kitchen fault. The Grand is a 5 star establishment and needs to improve in this area. I intend the above comments to be constructive and hope to see a marked improvement on our next visit.

Staff, most of them amazing. Really warm and friendly. One of them advised us on best location to take photos in the hotel. Super sweet. Location is great, near the beach. Heated pools, spacious rooms...They tag your luggage nicely if you keep it there after checkout and hand it only to the correct owner. So many hotels don't do this and just let you enter the luggage storage and take anything you like. Good to know your belongings are safe.

The room smelled old or like a carehome. Not sure if it is the carpet or curtains but not nice, not fresh. Our cards got somehow deactivated the next day so after breakfast we walked up, found out they don't work, walked down, handed to reception and they said oh yeah, of course, and extended by 1 more hour so that we can enter back into our room. No explanation, no apology. We are young and didn't mind that much but you would think some people wouldn't be thrilled to keep going up and down for no reason. Changing rooms and lockers in the spa area are quite dated.

all the staff were faultless. Lovely mid week stay, meant it was fairly quiet. Made full use of the lovely spa facilities. Evening meal was fabulous in Mirabelle restaurant.

Slightly dated, but kind of expected that in a hotel of this age. Still has that sparkle though and so clean. Charger cable for phone didn't work in 2 sockets and minor marks on the carpets. But to us that is so inconsequential it is hardly worth mentioning. In restaurant seated near to big bay window and my husband was in alcove of it. He did feel a bit of a draft but once curtains got pulled around it much improved. Lovely meal.

The way we were greeted by every staff member, even upon passing, how prompt the room fridge was bought up, how well presented all the staff were.

The wallpaper was peeling in some areas and the use of an extension cable would have been beneficial as we had choose between using the fan, kettle or coffee maker and bending down is impossible for us to do so we just kept the fan on. The only other gripe is there was no lift to the snooker room, I can't use the stairs and therefore missed out on the use of this which I would have enjoyed. But that's just a personal thing.

All facilities were very good. Food was excellent and the dining environment very elegant and relaxing. Service was exceptional on the first evening but a little less so the second but improved once we got attention to our waiting to be served. Breakfast offered huge and delicious choice. A perfect start to the day.

Parking was good with the concierge finding very convenient space for us as we arrived. Checking in at reception was rather impersonal and mechanical. Concierge service was very helpful. We had asked to be notified when our room was ready but nobody called and it was clear when I asked for the key that it must have been ready for a while. We had thought that booking the suite option might have prioritised room readiness. The room was very comfortable but had nowhere near enough electrical sockets for charging phones and other items and the only two were in very difficult places to reach. The shower being over the bath was not mentioned when we booked and made it very difficult for one of us with less agility to get in and out.

Absolutely fantastic hotel with old world charm in a very convenient location for the beach, pier and the art gallery and theatre. The entrance is stunning and all the rooms off were lovely and cosy. There are plenty of places to sit quietly and relax. The bedroom was spacious with everything you need and was nice and quiet. Had breakfast which was in a lovely room and couldn't fault the service or the food. Lovely cooked breakfast and well stocked buffet. Swimming pool and spa was nice and clean with lovely pool and jacuzzi. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Chris on the door was so nice and was always interested in my day, which is lovely when a solo traveller. The lady who made up my room was lovely too. All in all a lovely stay , it feels special to have stayed at The Grand Hotel.

My only niggle was that there wasn't a bar menu, which would have been nice. It would also be beneficial to the hotel as over the time I was there I spent around £100 in local restaurants that could have been income for the hotel. On the plus side it made me venture into the town and found some lovely little places to eat, followed by a lovely walk along the beach in the evening, something I may not have done if had eaten in the hotel.

I stayed on Monday for work and came back Friday with my husband. Bringing him was a bit last minute but the hotel accommodated this without any issue. The food was fantastic and the room was lovely. Concierge were helpful as always the receptionist on checkout was lovely. The hotel has a traditional feel and is welcoming.

The receptionist on check in was surly which is such a shame as ALL of the other staff are outstanding. Housekeeping woke my husband twice despite us booking a later check out time. The waitress got our breakfast order wrong but it was rectified and the waiter forgot to get the sauces after asking if we wanted any! (Minor issues and I will still go back because my stay earlier in the week was 10/10!)

We had a truly wonderful stay at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the hotel’s charming, old-fashioned elegance, which added to the overall experience. The Mirabelle Restaurant was a highlight – an absolutely beautiful dining experience with excellent food and impeccable service. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly, professional, and always happy to help when needed. A special mention must go to the Piano Player, who created a lovely atmosphere in the evenings – such a nice touch that made our stay even more memorable. If you're looking for a hotel with character, excellent service, and a touch of classic luxury, The Grand Hotel is the perfect choice. We would definitely return!

We did notice that housekeeping trolleys and cleaning supplies were sometimes left in the hallways for quite a while, which took away slightly from the otherwise pristine feel of the hotel. Additionally, while we expected premium cocktails, they were quite pricey and didn’t quite meet the high standards we anticipated. These were only small issues in an otherwise delightful stay, and they wouldn’t stop us from returning. The Grand Hotel remains a beautiful and elegant place to stay in Eastbourne.

We really liked the ambience of the hotel. It really is breathtaking from the outside and inside. The hotel is like going back in time and is certainly luxurious. The afternoon tea was lovely. Breakfast served both continental and traditional, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had our evening meal in the hotel too and this was also very good, and we were very well looked after.

The room we booked was a superior inland room. Which although was very clean, there was a stain on the carpet as we came into room, and the room was very small, with a huge air-conditioning unit taking up most of the room space. There was no natural light in the room as the window had a permanent blind over it. There wasn't a full-length mirror in the room.
