When we arrived the heating was not working in our room and the receptionist said she would get it looked at. When we returned to the room it was still really cold. She kindly provided a heater but it generally didn’t seem that the heating was working properly for the room. We had extended our stay by one day and were informed that we would have to update our room card the next day. We did this but then the card stopped working again the next day. It was irritating as the young receptionist was somewhat abrupt and she said it was because of security. This did not make any sense as we had originally booked the room for two days. If only she had just said sorry that happened rather than being officious and making it feel like it was our fault. Usually the staff are pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is very clean and given its age quite well maintained.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing and the quality wasn't great. I also think the prices are a bit steep, with the single room costing almost as much as a normal double for two people, which seems a bit excessive. Overall, you don't really get what you pay for. We got there pretty late after a long drive, and the guy at the front desk was almost rude, which is pretty unacceptable and unfortunate. We've been travelling around England for two weeks and everyone has been super helpful and nice, so this was a bit of a shock. We didn't expect to be treated like this after a tiring day in a hotel like this.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a wide variety of options to suit all tastes, and the dining area itself was a pleasure to be in, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The hotel's location is perfect, offering easy access to the beach, the pier, and the town centre. Overall, our stay at The View Hotel was exceptional. We left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and we can't wait to return. If you're looking for a hotel with stunning views, excellent service, and a relaxing atmosphere in Eastbourne, The View Hotel is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Breakfast was excellent. Really good quality- the bacon and the eggs were really good quality and cooked nicely. The room was very clean, not over-cluttered and the bathroom was spacious with lots of room. It was quiet and peaceful and a perfect location.. The view was stunning.

It became very hot at night, even with the window open as 1. the a/c didn't go low enough, and 2. there was still a winter duvet on the bed. The mattress and pillows on the bed also seem a little old and tired. 1. The pillows were hard, and the mattress springing was uncomfortable.

The hotel is in a perfect beach front location and within a short walk to the town centre, theatres and railway station. Even though the 7th floor double room didn't have a sea view, it had a city view which was still a wonderful sight with the hills and south downs to the distance. The king size bed was very comfortable and the room had all of the facilities you could possibly need for a restful stay. The room and all of the communal areas were spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I asked for some extra pillows and they were sent straight away. The cooked breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice for the continental selection, both savoury and sweet. Will definitely be staying here again.
