Very large and surprisingly quiet room with kettle, fridge, TV and fast WiFi. The was ample milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and even 2 biscuits.The bed was large, there was a sofa and plenty of storage, drawers etc. The TV had plenty of channels and worked well. The host was there to greet me upon arrival and his briefing was quick and informative. There was a communal lounge and a place to heat and eat your own food. The fluffly dog was lovely and we made friends. Breakfast was good. A large choice of cereals, juices, tea and coffee, jam, marmalade and Marmite. The female staff member that greeted me was wonderful, friendly and efficient. There is a lift and free parking on-site.

Unusually, the bath and shower formed part of the bedroom which as I was alone, was fine and somewhat novel but I'm sure that some couples would prefer privacy in which case, select a different room (this was room 15). The duvet was the same width as the bed which for me was ok because I was alone but if a couple were there together, they might be battling for the covers. I was sad to not see my doggy friend to say goodbye when I departed!

The breakfast was good with plenty of choice The whole place had very artistic vibes with lots of painted walls and colours. So vibrant. Property was close to the beach and the centre - walking distance to the pier

The lady with dark hair was working as a cleaner on arrival, but then was the chef next morning and spent a while playing with the dog before going back to cooking breakfast. I watched thru the little window and did not see her wash her hands - I had to ask the waiter to pass on my request that she washes her hands. Embarrassing!

The Sheldon is a very special place run by a warm friendly family. The place has a lot of soul with quirky art around and written stories/quotes on tables. It is very welcoming and offers you to help yourself to teas coffees, the use of a microwave any time should you prefer to stay in. The sitting room is a relaxing and charming area with a record player should you wish to try it! The best being, is the dog! He’s very happy to have some fuss. Breakfast is excellent and caters for everyone’s needs including allergens. The coffee setup is great whereby you make your own little cafetière choosing from a selection of ground coffees. Bed was comfortable and the room clean.

Only one downside for me, this was my bedroom window curtains. They didn’t close properly and to get better privacy I hung a towel in the centre which looked pretty shabby. I think it it would be a benefit to add an opaque blind for privacy and to allow the light in once the the curtains are drawn back. I left the curtains closed but it was quite dark.

Lovely cosy place. Felt like a home. Staff were friendly. And the star of the show was CK! So cute, love him! Also just a short walk to the seaside and restaurants and stores. Conveniently located.

We had a room for 4, so unfortunately it was at the basement, with no lift access. So there was a heck load of luggage to cart up and down the stairs by ourselves. There also isn’t daily cleaning of the room and bathroom. So we were piled with 2 days of towels and mats in our bathtub, although the rooms were clean. This was also the first hotel were they charged for a late checkout at 12 midday. Many hotels often make concessions for international travellers with luggage and an itinerary.

Three nights' stay with a friend for a short walking holiday. Hotel is perfectly situated for beach, Devonshire Park and town centre with plenty of nearby restaurants, cafes and pubs. Parking was easy with a private car park behind the hotel. The hotel is beautifully maintained with stylish, imaginative and quirky decor and furnishings in the public rooms. My single room was spotless and comfortable with plenty of hanging and storage space. Despite overlooking the street it was quiet. Plentiful choice for breakfast with full English and vegetarian options. The staff were friendly and helpful. In conclusion, I greatly enjoyed my stay here and would be very happy to return.

The photos don't do The Sheldon justice - it's clearly had a makeover since they were posted, and is now bursting with colour and character. The staff were all cheerful, welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and having private, off-road parking was a real bonus. We loved our stay - only wish we were there long enough to make use of the lounge, which looked wonderful.

Our only small criticism is that the towels were quite small, and there were only just enough. Everything else was plentiful, so this was a small let down. Otherwise everything was lovely.

Overall I had an excellent experience. From the moment I arrived staff were friendly and helpful, a real assett to the place. I liked the quirky atmosphere. The lounge was very comfortable and I spent some time there reading my book. The place was very quiet at night and the bed very comfortable so I slept very well. Breakfast was excellent and I was surprised by tthe range of items that a place of this size was able to provide. I will be looking to book a room at the Sheldon next time I'm in Eastbourne. Highly recommended.

Compared to the decor in the rest of the hotel, my room was a little tired and might benefit for msome redecoration in the future.

We liked shared facilities downstairs. The dining room, sitting room and bar area were exceptional. Amazing homely place and very original murals. Steve, the owner, was very chatty, interesting and pleasant guy. We liked the breakfast, tasty and plenty to chose from. Our room was very quiet, no street noise. Very central location and near the sea front.

The room was a bit bland but to be fair we knew it will be like that. We didn't want to spend too much money on the better and more exciting room so in the end it was ok. We appreciate that the owners are working on updating the rooms as and when possible.

We loved this Hotel. Such a lovely vibe. Had a family room and it was the perfect location for lively children. There were plenty of clean toys to play with outside the room and space for the little ones to play. The decor of the hotel is tastefully done with lots of personal touches. Would definitely recommend and want to revisit again.

Because of little children we used the side entrance, made it so much easier with buggy, however you have to walk by the dustbins to do this, and initially there was a few bits if rubbish which let the area down slightly.

Ideal location near the seafront, the town & close to places to eat. On site parking. Made very welcome. Friendly, happy, helpful staff. A charming mix of guests, young & old, from different & diverse backgrounds/countries Delightful artwork & decoration. Lightheaded with a sense of humour. Colourful garden. Excellent breakfast, good choice of healthy & cooked options.

Cold water supply in my room very low at times. Shower temperamental, hot/cold, & low pressure.
