The hotel is located in a beautiful area and has preserved its early 19th-century atmosphere, though now in a modernized form. The reception and lounges are wonderful, and the staff is polite. The room, especially for such a low price, was large, spacious, comfortable, and clean with beautiful view on the hills. We are very glad we chose to stay there.🤩🥰

As with all of our previous stays at the Lansdowne we enjoyed our short break this time round. The hotel, although quite large and, in the week we stayed catering for guests and organisers of the Airbourne Show, is cosy and friendly with lots of space downstairs to enjoy a coffee, tea or just sit and relax and enjoy the sea view. The location of the hotel is close to the sea, which is only a short distance away from the hotel and easily accessible from the train station. The staff are welcoming, professional and happy to offer help and advice when needed. The breakfast is amazing with a wide range of hot and cold food, including gluten-free and dairy free options.

As it was a very hot week a table fan had been left in our room when we arrived (which was much appreciated) but, even with the fan on all night, it was still too hot and uncomfortable to sleep in. The room had large top to floor windows but only the two lower ones opened slightly onto the narrow window ledge outside, which meant there was not enough air flow/ventilation in the room to keep it cool.

Helen at reception gave a fantastic welcome. Really warm and friendly. Great ambassador for the Lansdowne. The night staff were friendly and helpful too.

Very helpful staff and lovely, characterful hotel. We had a problem with our original date and the hotel were very accommodating in changing it for us, which was much appreciated. Once there, the stay was lovely with sea views, extremely helpful staff and lots of very comfortable area to relax. Also would really call out how dog-friendly they were, with separate areas to avoid annoying non-dog owners but we and our dog were made to feel very welcome. We will definitely be back.

The restaurant was full early evening, but that was our fault for not booking in advance - and probably shows how good it is.

Hotel was very clean with very polite and friendly staff. Our deluxe sea view room was nice and did have a lovely view. Facilities are a little dated but everything was clean and the bed very comfortable. Hotel is quite stuffy and hot and would definitely benefit from air conditioning. Luckily there was a small fan in our room which kept us fairly comfortable. Overall though we had a lovely time, staff very friendly, the person on the night shift even opened the bar for us to have a nightcap when we came back! Lady running the breakfast hall was very help and nice too. Breakfast was really good with a nice selection. Nice hotel and a good location, thank you.

Would have been nice to have a couple of bottles of water in the room as I would never drink from the tap in the bathroom.

Friendly and helpful staff in reception, restaurant and housekeeping. Great location on the sea front and lovely large room, newly decorated with refurbished bathroom. Large comfortable bed, coffee-maker, mineral water and modern bathroom. Comfortable lounges and bar and good parking facilities in the locality. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and good quality food.

Big car rally on the promenade opposite the hotel meant it was quite noisy when we stayed but not the fault of the hotel and probably quite a rare event. Bathroom modern and fresh but the shower a little feeble. No bath robes or slippers but not really necessary.

Everything. This was the third time I stayed at the Lansdowne and I don't know how they do it, but somehow with every stay they always exceed my expectations. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the hotel is at a great location, right opposite the beach. Our room was beautiful, larger than expected. Very clean. Amazing breakfast - plenty of choice (from continental to English breakfast).

Can't really think of anything but I have to be picky... I'd say the WiFi could be better/more stable. Also would be a great addition if we could log on to or connect our streaming services to the TV. We tried but couldn't get it to work (to be fair, we didn't ask the staff about this either as it wasn't a major issue).

Staff were very helpful and friendly. From helping me with luggage to the room, to the breakfast team and bar staff. Second evening the lady behind the bar had remembered I don't take ice in drinks and I never had to remind again. The room was very clean but first evening the radiators were off and really difficult to turn on. Same with the heated towel rail. I reported and it was sorted quickly but would be good to have been checked beforehand.

Two days I had no bath room floor mat which was an odd miss. Having to buy water for the room is very strange when you get free water from a hotel like Premier Hub and also limited coffee and tea supplies even if you can call for more. 1 teabag and 1 coffee sachet limits you to a morning or night coffee without having to request supplies. Meeting room was very basic and the basement really sad and unloved. Room not well set up and at times chilly. The accessible toilet was not nice. The door sticks, so hard to pull shut which is not ideal if trying to manage a walking aid or baby and changing stuff. The hand paper roll was left open all week with the roll just left in , which felt uncared for. It also felt uncared for generally

I stay at the Lansdowne frequently as I like it's comfy atmosphere, friendly staff, and beachfront location. My single room with sea views was very clean and comfortable with plenty of storage space and tea/coffee making facilities. TV reception was good. Bed had a lovely deep mattress, there was very little noise, so enjoyed a good night's sleep.

The wi-fi throughout the building (and I've stayed in various rooms over the years) is awful. Fortunately, I wasn't trying to work during my stay. The hotel does need to look into how it can produce a much better signal for guests. The breakfast arrangements changed last year - it used to be that breakfast was served freshly cooked at your table along with tea/coffee and a nice selection of toast. Now it's all self-service and the quality isn't as good with food becoming dried up under the catering lamps, particularly the fried eggs.

The Lansdowne is unbelievable value for money! It’s a fabulous find. All the staff I came across were delightful. My single room on the second floor with a great view of the sea was more than I expected - an extra sitting area, comfortable bed, good quality, appealing furnishings, bathroom not recently renovated but perfectly clean with everything you need including a comfortable bath and fluffy white towels. The multiple lounge areas and bar are inviting, a lovely spot to relax with a drink or a chat or quiet read. The restaurant 1920 was also a great experience. Good food, nice setting, friendly good service. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
