I love to stay in this hotel as it is on the beach and is having a room where I can park my bicycle!

Check in is after 15.00 and even if they have rooms they just don’t care…I honestly don’t understand that sort of policy. I mean why would someone need to wait until 15.00 if the room is ready and empty? In my case I arrive in the morning and because I had a meeting in London I didn’t have an opportunity to have a shower before so I checked in after 10 pm when I come back…hospitality is disappearing from hospitality industry and everything becomes full of rules and robotics! You can see sorry on every corner…but all those sorries are only the words without any meaning at all!

Staff were all lovely friendly and helpful. Location of hotel very good to go to pier or bandstand or catch the Eastbourne sightseeing bus and beach opposite and lots of shops and restaurants behind hotel in next road. For the price we paid for dinner bed and breakfast it was very good value. Room was very clean and good size but bathroom very old sink definitely needs changing. Shame we had view of emergency stairs.

Didn't realise so much work was being done around. Didn't know about the hotel next to us burning down so scaffolding all around. Then the gardens opposite us all dug up and loads of machinery around with diggers. Plus side road of hotel road all dug up and road closed so couldn't get into carpark. Would of been nice to have a message to say go in no entry road to get in carpark council agreed it. Instead spent £4.50 parking in a side road to then go to hotel for them to tell me how to get into hotel carpark. The work going on all round the hotel felt like staying in a building site. Not the hotels fault I know but would of been nice to of known about it.

Was my second stay here and I was satisfied as I was in the past. Price is more than reasonable for the location and services. Room and premises in general were very clean. Breakfast more than sufficient and tasty. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

Accommodated mum in wheel chair perfectly. My mum was able to navigate the hotel without using her wheel chair which allowed her to feel independent. The rooms were perfect for our stay, clean tidy and comfortable. Tea and coffee toilet rolls were replaced daily you could ask for replacement towels and change of bed linen if required. The range of food was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. The staff were very polite, and friendly.

The ladies toilet was downstairs from the bar, so if my mum needed it we would have to go back to her room as that many stairs she wouldn’t be able to get back up again.

The property does require some TLC and there are plans to renovate over the next three years. However, we had a comfortable Seaview room. We enjoyed the Breakfasts and Dinners. The staff were all friendly. We arrived easily by train to Eastbourne and loved the open top bus to Birling Gap and the 99 bus to Pevensey Castle. Eastbourne promenade, Pier, Bandstand, restaurants and shops are all within walking distance.

Like many seaside hotels we have stayed in, this hotel requires decorating, deep cleaning and A/C. However, this will push up the price and Eastbourne has many hotels in competition.

I like the close proximity to the beach and local shops and city centre. The breakfast was very tasty and a lot of choices.

The toilet had a stain inside. Also the bathroom door couldn't close properly. The wallpaper was lifting away on the walls. There were no usb sockets to charge your mobile phone. There were two patern ceiling wallpaper styles and not consistent. On the main stairs between the ground and first floor, there was a tea bag left on the stairs from Sunday through till Monday when we left. It takes a while for the hot water to reach the shower. approx 3 minutes.

This hotel vastly exceeded the expectations that I had of it beforehand. The staff on the reception desks were all very friendly and welcoming. The buffet breakfast each morning was great. I liked how you could have it anytime between 7.30-9.30 on weekdays and didn't have to book a slot. The evening meal options were also great. I was able to book onto the 3 course evening meal at the last minute on a couple of occasions. I had bar food on other nights. My room had everything in it that I needed. For a single, it was very spacious compared to lots of places. It was good that there was free Wifi available in the rooms.

There were no problems that I experienced during my stay here. There were only very minor issues with the room such as the walls in the bedroom could do with touching up as there were cracks in places. Also some of the carpets could do with been replaced around the hotel as they are old and stained. Having a room above a bar meant it could get a bit noisy at night.

Very old hotel high ceilings. It is clean. Breakfast was very nice and what a lovely view. All the hotel staff were very nice and went out of the way to be accommodating. Right on the seafront near the pier. Walking to loads of shops and restaurants.

This beautiful old hotel is certainly not in its prime so you need to see past that. Seriously If you don't like lifts make sure you request a lower floor room. In it's day this would have been very grand but it is now a bit tatty. Car park small and ran out of spaces.

Review of my 3-night stay in Eastbourne First of all, all the hotels by the seaside in Eastbourne are very old and definitely in need of renovation. This affects the overall quality, and the prices are generally inflated just because of the location. It’s worth checking the prices carefully before your trip, because they can jump very high. We were lucky to book a room at this hotel just 2 days before arrival at an attractive price — we paid £220 for 3 nights, which is acceptable. Fun fact: when I checked availability on Saturday for just one night (Saturday–Sunday), only three very poor hotels were left, and the prices were around £350 per night — so you really need to plan and book early. As for this hotel: the location is great, not far from the pier and the main street with shops and restaurants. However, our room was facing that street, so if you like to sleep in late, be aware that the street noise might disturb you. The ladies at the reception could have been a bit more welcoming — some of them seemed like they didn’t really want to be there. The hotel seems very popular with elderly guests, which for us was actually a plus because we value peace and quiet. In another hotel in the past, we ended up with big international groups of young people, and they completely ruined the stay with loud conversations, running through the corridors, and playing music — fortunately, nothing like that happened here. Summary: I would definitely come back to this hotel — of course, if the price is still attractive. For those who have never been to Eastbourne, keep in mind that the standard of all hotels here is not quite like what you might expect in other countries, so don’t be surprised. But yes — I would return to this hotel.
