The staff, rooms and common areas of the hotel were absolutely perfect. Staff were friendly, helpful and took a genuine interest in guests, the rooms were cosy and spotless. My single room felt welcoming and spacious, and the view onto the sea was spectacular. The breakfast food was delicious. I just left and I’m already planning to visit again.

I could hear the thump of music coming from another room both nights and there was no phone in the room to ask reception to ask them to turn it down, but that being said, the beds were so comfy and the sound of the waves put me to sleep anyway. It would’ve probably annoyed me much more in a different setting, but I felt so lucky to be spending time in such a beautiful place.

Firstly, every member of staff we met was really friendly and really helpful. The food was very good. We had one evening meal in the restaurant which was very good. The breakfast selections and quality of food were also very good. Room was very warm, was serviced daily with fresh towels and gowns for the hot-tub. Room was also nice and dark and bed comfortable. Hot-tub with views over the Firth of Forth was superb. First hotel I have stayed in that gives you a realistic number of milk sachets for your tea and coffee! That alone is worth a thumbs up.

Two relatively minor things. There was a nice little two-seat sofa but no space for a coffee table so if you were sitting there having a drink you had to hold it or put it on the floor (first world problem, I know). A heated towel rail would be really useful in these rooms as the hot-tub meant that we were showering a lot and it got difficult to get towels dry enough. Alternatively, extra towels and a small laundry hamper for wet ones. If you're paying quite a chunk of money for the hot-tub you want to use it and need dry towels to get the most out of it.

All the staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Room was very comfortable with a great view. Breakfast was great and plentiful, with a good range of options. Location was very central, a short walk to the high street, right on the seafront but peaceful and quiet.

Only very minor things - it was a bit difficult to identify the hotel when we arrived by car, as there were no signs at eye level or on the front door, only on the roof (which we only saw later)! A mini fridge in the room would have been great.

Wonderful location and single room (room 17) was spacious and had a great view of the rocks and sea! Breakfast was delicious! Staff were super friendly and helpful.

I ordered the hamburger for dinner the first night. It was very tough and not well enough cooked (I had asked for it very well done). As a result I couldn’t eat it. Staff asked if I wanted something else instead but I was nearly the last person in the restaurant at that time and didn’t want to wait for another meal and keep the staff late. The staff dealt with it very well, taking the dish off my bill. I found the menu quite limited - I had hoped for scallops to start then a lovely fish or pork dish but the choices were quite similar to a pub meal. However I would eat here again as the location is superb!

I loved my visit. I booked a wee single room for two nights. The bed was comfy, the room was clean, the sea view really exceeded my expectations and the chef does brilliant breakfasts. Staff are all incredibly friendly and engaging. The hotel is a little older, you can see where there are wee scuffs and a bit of DIY repair work. But it doesn't detract in any way from the charm and comfort of the place.

Can't think of anything really. Worst I can say is my shower door was a squeeze to get past, but that's because I need to lose significant weight and not their fault at all lol.

Everything!!! Location...hotel is overlooking the sea ; stunning view and is only a 5 minute walk to Dunbar high street, but more indirect route takes you down by the rockpools/sea etc. Staff...naturally warm and friendly from moment you walk in. Helpful and just lovely. Room part 1...just WOW ! I had originally booked a room with a Seaview, which would have been perfect; however I surprised my husband with an upgrade to a HotTub Suite. We were in room 21, private with stunning views over the sea; large hot tub, a table and chairs to sit and enjoy view. The area was sheltered from the sea breeze. Bathrobes included. Room part 2...inside was decorated beautifully and was cosy warm; which was appreciated coming out of hot tub. Plenty of hanging space etc. The suite was more than I would usually pay but it was definitely worth it for this treat. Restaurant... When we have booked smaller hotels, our experience of dinner is usually good pub grub. Lovely, well made but generally just OK. This is NOT the case at Bayswell; their chef is amazing! We have already decided it is worth the 45min drive from.Edinburgh just for dinner. There were approximately 8 options for starter, mains, desserts. It was definitely quality of quantity. There was no feeling of anything being bought in Costco and cooked. Thai crab cakes, baked sea trout, haggis Wellington, lamb steaks. Delicious, perfectly cooked, high quality, top restaurant standard food...served in conservatory with a view 😋 Unsurprisingly breakfast was equally high standard, freshly made to order. . We will be returning.

I loved the location with easy access to downtown, beach and train. I loved the friendly staff. The view from the lounge & eating area was excellent and a nice place to relax. The one draw back for me was it felt like the heat went off at a certain time of the evening and I was quite cold. When I mentioned that to the staff, however, they were very accommodating and brought me an electric heater and then all was perfection. As an older single woman there alone, I felt very safe. A huge plus.

The temperature in the evening until I received and electric heater for my room. That's it. All else was fine.

Fantastic location: the sea-view from the hotel is breathtakingly stunning. A short stroll leads you to the old harbour which is most scenic and invites to spend some time there. In addition, the hotel as as close as one can get to the coastal trail which provides ample opportunity for long walks along the coastline or even a gentle run for miles on end. Breakfast: good variety and quality. Dinner: excellent and good value for money. Staff: very friendly, helpful and hands on.

The room was nice, providing all the comforts needed, however, we would have appreciated more facilities to hang and dry your wet clothes ;).

We had a hot tub suite which was well equipped and located. We liked the fact that hot tub was available to us at any time, within the parameters of periods of quiet within the hotel complex. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was spacious. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The bathrooms didn’t seem to have any independent source of heating which would have been preferred given the very cold weather during our stay. It’s not a big problem, just an observation. Similarly, the weather was poor, so a canopy over the top of the hot tub might have improved the experience for that time of year. The tv malfunctioned and the sound quality was very poor. The tv remote then failed and we had to contact reception. unfortunately, despite two staff members coming to the room, we couldn’t have this fixed so that we could watch a movie we particularly wanted to see. We had no real complaints, however, and enjoyed our stay. We would recommend the hotel and would visit again in better weather.

Our one night family get-together at the Bayswell Park was fantastic! The main areas downstairs were traditional, clean and the views from the conservatory restaurant lovely. Similarly the rooms were clean functional and warm. We had dinner early even for seven people and the quality of the food in the evening, and at breakfast, was excellent. The main aspect we enjoyed most was the friendliness of all the staff - reception, servers, cleaners etc were all approachable and personable - and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. Highly recommended and we will definitely visit again if in the area.

Sure there were minor niggles like the restaurant being a bit chilly (and the downstairs gents toilet being like a fridge!) but overall everyone in our party enjoyed our visit . Thanks to everyone at the Bayswell Park - we hope to see you again sometime!
