I can only speak in super positive terms about the hotel, the staff, the quality of the food and the all-pervading luxury atmosphere! Perfect, central location!!! I have been to many 4* hotels, but I have never experienced this atmosphere, this attentive but not intrusive service! I really and sincerely do not understand those who write bad things about it! They are not satisfied with their own lives! You have to pay for parking?! Why?! Everywhere else too, and it is written everywhere, you can know in advance. Was a tile cracked on the terrace?! Was there really nothing else to look at? There was such a wonderful panorama, such magnificent architectural and decorative solutions on every square centimeter, I do not even understand these writings! I think this hotel is definitely 4*+ rated, and I will recommend it to all my friends! Since it is a hotel built in 1884 and renovated around 2000, there may be few electrical plugs in the room compared to our today's all-energy-hungry objects, I only missed one connector in the bathroom so that I could shave there, but maybe it's just me who couldn't find it! The toiletries (with orange scent) completely enchanted me!!! ... and the environment, if you are receptive to the elegant and gentlemanly behavior of the past, will also elevate every moment of your stay to a higher level! Thank you very much for letting us be your guests with our 25kg+ "small" dog!

Most of the things were just perfect and exceeded our expectations: friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff, great food at breakfast with many many choices, location near the sea with its own beach and trail near the coast, view to the sea from the room, quiet and very pleasant atmosphere including quiet hotel guests.

Room for improvement: when taking a shower in the bath it is virtually impossible not to flood the bathroom. The reason being, the shield which is supposed to isolate the shower from the rest of the bathroom is just to small. The problem can be solved by replacing that shield with the bigger one - at least twice bigger. The staff was quick in cleaning up the flooded bathroom though, so kudos to the staff.

Great location and a beautiful hotel. Loved the history on the walls in the breakfast dining room. Shame this will be covered over. Breakfast …… amazing!

Tough one as it was so good. Guess my only comment would be it’s a shame there weren’t more lounge sitting areas on the beautiful terrace to enjoy maybe grazing boards with hams/ olives/ breads/ tomatoes etc. It’s such a perfect view. We actually didn’t eat at nighttime because of the menu and our children didn’t like it. They’d have preferred luxury chicken burgers and fries etc or the Caesar salad you had during the day (delicious). The other thing we noticed were people coming down the the sea area who didn’t have the hotel towels and taking up beds.

This is my favorite hotel in the world! The breakfast is great, with so many delicious options. The location is perfect, and the hotel itself is beautiful. But what truly sets this place apart is the wonderfully warm atmosphere, which is created by the most amazing staff. I have to give a special shout-out to Hrvoje at the reception desk, to Ivan and Luka from the concierge desk, Jurica from the spa department, Lena and all other great people serving breakfast at the balcony and catering the beach and pool area. They all truly went above and beyond!

Elegant hotel, classically furnished, with good facilities. Attractive terrace. Extremely polite, attentive staff. Beautifully furnished large room, with sizeable balcony. Excellent breakfast.

Food very expensive and not of the quality one would expect. Extremely poor risotto with about 3 tiny shrimps. Duck was nice, but lukewarm by the time it was served on the terrace.

The hotel staff were friendly, the hotel is beautiful. Great location right on the water & short walk to all the shops, bars & lovely restaurants. Room was very comfortable with a small balcony and a side view out to the sea. Pool and access to the sea was fantastic with towels supplied. A gym with weights & running machine for the keen guests. Breakfast was 1st class with an A la carte menu as well as a selection of fruits, cheeses, savoury items, juices & coffee. Requested a late checkout which was accepted. Overall a beautiful hotel and highly recommend

This beautiful and historic hotel has the best location in Opatija directly on the waterfront but also in town. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast amazing. We also had dinner at the restaurant which was a very nice experience. The room was beautiful and clean with a nice sized balcony overlooking the hotel's terrace, the pool and the sea. The parking for our car (at extra cost) was at a reasonable daily rate. Very quiet location but for the rolling of the waves.

We liked everything! (We just prefer a bathroom with a shower (not shower over bath).

The hotel was gorgeous. You could feel its unique history and also its grandeur. It is obviously a special place and staying there, we felt special as well. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. It's worth staying here just for the excellent support they provided at check in, check out, and several other times when we had questions. We spent an afternoon just swimming, relaxing and enjoying the sea at the hotel beach and swimming pool, which were lovely. We also enjoyed walking along the promenade and exploring the town. All of the different rooms that people in my group stayed in were clean, elegantly decorated, and very nice overall. The one with the seaside view and balcony was something special, though. If you are wavering, reserve that and enjoy the view!

The breakfast was fine but not magnificent. The staff were very friendly and working very hard to ensure that all of the guests' needs were met. However, there were not enough of them to ensure a perfect experience. Both days, we had to wait for the staff to clean tables before we could sit down and it took longer than it should have because the breakfast room was packed and same people responsible for cleaning the tables were also taking orders, delivering food, making the coffee, etc. I would encourage the hotel to bring additional staff to support breakfast service when the hotel is full. Even then, however, it was a fine experience.

The location is spectacular, it literally takes your breath away overlooking the gorgeous Adriatic Sea. You can walk the promenade for miles, plenty of places to stop along the beautiful walk for a glass of wine. Restaurants are all close. Breakfast at hotel is superb especially sitting out on the terrace by the water. Our room had its own private balcony with lounge chairs that we never wanted to leave it was so beautiful the view and peace and quiet. Staff were all kind and lovely. Really it’s one of a kind hotel, serious old world charm. Get the best room you can, makes all the difference.
