Breakfast, included in the room rate, is copious, tasty and cooked to order. Room, large / spacious. Plenty of chairs (!). [How many times does one go to a "chain hotel" where even in twin / double rooms, there is only one chair...]. Location; in Hayle, not on the outskirts. Parking arrangements available (though not needed by us). (Some rooms a little tired but) we enjoyed the individuality of the hotel. Definitely not part of a hotel CHAIN! The staff: helpful, cheerful and attentive. Like a breath of fresh air.

Room, Wifi and tv signals a bit weak. bathroom tired - but still fully functioning. Restaurant , evening last orders, kitchen closes early - so check this out to see if it works for you. (Not a dislike; we were warned by the hotel beforehand that there is no lift in this 3 storey hotel.)

The staff were great, so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and the hotel was lovely and clean. Simone who served us breakfast every morning was absolutely brilliant. Lovely, old style decor which gave it a homely feel. Would definitely recommend this place if you're staying down that way

Lovely stay. Rooms little dated but we liked the quirky pictures etc showing some of it's history. Pleasant to have entertainment if you choose to drink in the bar. Despite having entertainment, our room was quiet. Drinks from the bar are reasonably priced. Breakfast very nice. You are given a slip to choose from and can choose a time to suit you within their 'window'. Good to see vegetarian and gluten free choices were available although these do not directly affect us! We had a premier room which was situated on the first floor immediately above the front entrance. .it was a good size with an adequate but dated bathroom however quite expensive at £140 per night compared to other places we have stayed recently. Plenty of tea/coffee /milk in the room and a fridge for convenience. Also a pedestal fan which we were very grateful for! We checked reviews before we booked, that were mixed, which was in honesty the main reason we upgraded, however we were pleasantly surprised. Food Hygiene rating is a big deal for us and it has a 5*. Reviewers stated rooms were not cleaned during their stay, our room wasn't cleaned but we were only there for 2 nights so it did not bother us. On arrival there were 4 large white bath towels and 4 white hand towels along with toiletries in our room - adequate for our stay, . The bed was made up with clean white bedding and was reasonably comfortable. . Personally, we do not need someone to clean up after us for that short time and pretty certain we could have asked for more towels if we'd needed more as there was a woman cleaning the public areas etcm

Felt our room was expensive for what it was having paid an additional £30 to upgrade. wonder what the standard room would have been like?!

My second visit, this time staying in one of the mews type rooms in the hotel court yard. Cosy and comfortable, in same style as main Hotel, well matched. Super fridge and powerful hot shower. Easy to come and go as you please, ideal if staying out late! Breakfast will set you up for the coming day, plenty of choice. I can thoroughly recommend the Restaurant, excellent food, as a Vegetarian this was very much appreciated. As to location, perfectly placed, with everything close to hand, transport, food etc. Dont be put of by the some what faded grandeur of the Hotel, its all part of its charm!

Our rooms were very hot and the running water was not. After a full day of hiking I had hoped to enjoy a hot bath but could only get it to luke warm. Also, ths artwork was a little interesting/suggestive which wasn't really to our tastes, but the place certainly had character!

Staff great. We had to attend an afternoon funeral a few miles away and needed an earlier check in at the hotel. We spoke to the lady on the reception desk a few days before we arrived and she managed to get our room ready for us for late morning which helped us enormously. Thank you. Bedroom was very big. Comfortable bed. Fridge in room Large full English Breakfast We were able to park on the hotel car park at the rear of the hotel

Was so relaxed and laid back. Not many hotels have a shower that is actually powerful but this one does! Comfy bed! Tv has decent channels! Lee was the nicest and most helpful member of staff at a hotel i have ever met! Went out of his way to help, LEGEND!

I only stayed one night. Also.. the kettle in the room wasn’t good, Other than that it was a great stay.

The house is a beautiful, historical place and very well located (5 minute walking from train station). The staff is amazing, always smiling and helping us whenever we needed it. Hayle is such a quiet place in Cornwall with an amazing sand beach, I totally recommend it if you don't want to stay in the busiest places. The hotel is really 2 minutes away from the bus stop that connects Hayle to St Ives and Penzance, for example. Breakfast is nice, I recommend it.

I would suggest them to review the bed mattress (room 4). It looks like the bed structure was smaller than the mattress which was a bit uncomfortable.

I was greeted by friendly people and made to feel welcome. The room was clean and well prepared, when I asked for an iron the lady who was serving rooms got one even though she was busy had a chat and made me feel welcome wonderful hospitality.

A slight problem with the plumbing but this is a very old building so I would expect that ( all I had to do was run the tap for a little longer) This is only an observation and not by any means a problem.

Staff were very friendly and cheery throughout the stay, The location was great as a starting point for day trips around Cornwall as well as visiting the beach in Hayle. Breakfast was lovely and cooked fresh each day to order, very quick to serve as you give your ETA for breakfast so they can plan accordingly.

The shower was a bit fiddly to set at the right temperature and took a few goes to get the hang of it Also with the curtains shut, it was still incredibly bright in the morning so may help with some darker lining for the curtains to block that out.
