Absolutely everything! Les Jardins de Baracane is an exceptional place to stay in the heart of the old town. During an extremely hot week, the beautiful tropical gardens and pool were a welcome respite and after a day exploring, returning to the peace and tranquillity of the BnB was an absolute joy. What really makes this place extra special are its hosts, Laurence and Olivier. They are friendly, obliging, caring and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Olivier constantly checked on us to make sure we were comfortable and he was always up for a chat. When our train to Paris got cancelled at the last minute and we were in panic mode, Laurence and Olivier swung into action, quietly reassuring us that they would sort things out for us, which they did by booking us on a later train. We couldn’t have been more grateful!
There was nothing to dislike about this gorgeous property!

Our three days at Les Jardins de Maracane were absolutely perfect. Staying in the Babylone suite on the third floor was such a treat, with its lovely views over the rooftops and the peaceful garden below. Even though we were close to everything, it felt like a hidden oasis, and we cherished coming back each afternoon to unwind by the pool in the private, serene gardens. Aicha, our wonderful hostess, made our stay extra special. She was warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. Her daily chats and care really made us feel at home—nothing was ever too much trouble for her. The house cat, Minette was a constant joy curling up next to us each morning at breakfast ( and we are not normally cat people 😊)
Mosquitoes were a pest but we were given excellent repellent 👍

Our hosts Olivier and Laurence were exceptional! From the moment we arrived til leaving you felt like you were family. The garden was peaceful and relaxing after a day of being a tourist. They were happy to hear (and help) what your plans were for the day or where your adventures had taken you. Believe their restaurant recommendations as all three of ours were excellent and when you see your hosts out enjoying an evening there too you know it is good! This boutique bed and breakfast was a perfect place for us while touring the area as we felt it was easy to venture via train/car on your own or with tours to nearby towns.

Olivier and Lawrence were charming and informative hosts. The gardens on the property were exceptional, with both a wide selection of plants as well as local artists’ work being showcased. This was a relaxing and calming environment to return to after days of sightseeing. The other guests were also pleasant and ready to share tips and tricks from their own adventures, making this seem like a big family gathering rather than a large, impersonal hotel experience. The room we stayed in had a ceiling fan and window screens for cooling, as well as bedside USB connections to charge devices. The property has also earned an environmental rating for conservation efforts, which is also lovely and helps reduce our traveler footprint.
There was a few mosquitoes, something we did not plan for, but nothing too annoying.

Olivier is a fantastic host providing excellent recommendations and taking a real interest in our travels. We had the most stunning suite on the top level looking out onto the garden. It was extremely large and roomy, stylishly decorated with an extremely comfortable bed. It is obvious that a lot of care and detail has been taken in renovating this beautiful property and it was a real privilege to stay here. Staying here was one of the highlights of our 5 week European trip.

My mother and I recently stayed at Les Jardines de Baracane, a charmingly restored 17th century building with an elegant and tasteful interior in keeping with the authenticity of the house. Do ask Olivier about the history of the house, the sisters and the connection with the taffeta industry as it is very interesting! The garden and been thoughtfully and beautifully designed with the addition of artist’s work discreetly placed amongst the planting and also within the house. It is a place of peace and calm within the busy city and a special space that feeds creative inspiration. Oliver and Laurence were incredibly helpful by recommending places to eat and visit. We chose to eat breakfast every morning in the garden under the wisteria. This consisted of local fresh produce such as lovely cheeses, breads and amazing honey! The helpfulness offered by Olivier made our stay more comfortable as he was always willing to answer any queries and help wherever possible. Of course we can’t forget to mention Minette, their beautiful cat who was a lovely companion to share breakfast with!

Olivier & Laurence were the perfect hosts. We arrived to an informative run down of what's available in and around the city, shown the beautiful garden and pool on the property and then shown to our thoughtfully curated room. The small details throughout our stay made us feel like we were at a home away from home. The beauty of the property only outdone by the hosts attentiveness and attention to detail. The property also offers secure parking for a fee.
Nothing to dislike.

The property is in an excellent location for anyone wanting to explore Avignon, but also get out of the town easily by road and visit the area. Olivier and his wife are super helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The property is very much a hidden gem and it feels like you are entering a riad in Marrakesh when you go through the front door. There are lovely touches throughout and he properly, from pieces of art from local artists to quirky furnishings that are in keeping with the property itself. There is water, beer, tea and coffee available at all times, but it is possible to keep wine and other drinks in the fridge, if you have brought some with you and tons of glassware available.
We were there when it was incredibly hot, so the shaded garden was very welcome, however in cooler weather it would be nice if there was a bit more sunshine around the pool area which could be achieved by pruning some of the trees.

The gardens and the atmosphere of a 17 century house were outstanding. Laurence and Olivier were the most wonderful hosts and the location of the property within the walls of the old city made everywhere of interest a short walk away.
The narrow stairs can be a bit of a challenge, especially on a hot day….. but that goes with the authenticity of the property…. So it’s more of a warning than a criticism.

We had fresh croissants and coffee on the house for breakfast. The host was very friendly and helpful. The ambience was lovely. They helped us with our heavy luggage upon arrival and departure.
There was a lot of concern about the rules. Of coarse staying at a persons home is quite different than even an air b&b or a hotel. We are preferring the convenience and the services of a hotel these days. The room was also a bit tight with no where to store luggage.
