We were a Girlguiding group travelling from the UK. We had two lovely rooms on the top floor (the photo is the view from one of the rooms!) - well equipped and very clean. The staff were all lovely and very helpful - check in and out both speedy and seamless. We phoned in advance to say we would be a little late arriving and that was fine.

Not a lot you can do about it but the location is a little far out from town and required a tram ride. Trams are frequent and cheap though so not a problem. The kitchen facilities were a bit small - given the size of the hostel.

I stayed in a female dome with 4bed. The room is big space. The kitchen is reasonable clean event thought it is small for the whole building but it factions.i am able to make a cup of tea and have cooked a small meal. The sitting areas are great, i able to hang out meet other traveler.

I don’t like when the washing /dryer machine was broken. After I washed my clothes and still wet the dryer was Not working. The staff was helpful tried calling the service man but it was Germany public holiday, I can’t fix it. So I have to take my wet clothes to the next destination. Overall I’m survived .

The hotel has a very convenient location right next to tram, metro, bus and train lines. I stayed alone in a 4-person room. The room was very clean and quite cozy. I didn't order breakfast but I bought food from the supermarket across the street and stored it in the fridge of the community kitchen on the ground floor. All in all I had a very pleasant stay.

The hotel is popular among younger people which is probably why there was music playing on the ground floor/the community kitchen. I don't mind the music itself but hearing loud music at 7:30 am is not my idea of a cozy breakfast.

We stayed in a six-sleeper for 4 nights. It was myself, my husband and our 3 adult children. The room was really spacious and well thought out. Having a separate toilet from the shower is a bonus. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed. The shared kitchen and dining areas downstairs are amazing and really makes this such a great option. Staff were great and the atmosphere was happy and comfortable. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Makes staying in an expensive European city so much more manageable.

The rooms were clean but underneath the beds had not been cleaned for some time.

I like the ambience, the property gives a hotel vibe at the reception but a homey feel all over. I stayed here twice: when I landed at the start of my journey and when I was about to fly out. Amsterdam Amstel Station is a few steps away, as well as the GVB bus station and #12 tram. I did not include breakfast in my booking but there are stores around where you can buy stuff and cook your own meal in the guest kitchen. A big fridge is onsite where you can store your food in paperbags. You can do your laundry using We Wash app for a fee (€4/load wash, €4/load dry). Water refilll station is available, you only need a water bottle/tumbler and refill it before you start your day out. Check in and check out were a breeze. Friendly staff, salute! Locker drawers are under the beds to store your valuables. You should have your own lock, though.

Pillows can be a bit more firm. No closet to hang clothes, only hooks for coats are installed. I understand because I stayed in a dorm room. Everything else is great!

Great location; adjacent to the bus/train station, grocery store and restaurants close by; affordable; clean, breakfast available on-site; good Wi-Fi; bar and games on site; good and helpful staff - especially Khristiyan (sp?). Sadly, :( I cannot remember how to spell his name, but he was the most helpful person. :) He recommended trips, gave assistance with the GVB App., etc., and genuinely showed interest in guests. He was the added touch that made the Amstel shine! Would stay here again! :)

1) The staff couldn't reserve or guarantee a bottom bunk for someone with a physical limitation. 2) August is a very busy month and the Amstel was packed. In the evenings it was difficult to find a seat downstairs. 3) Likewise, the guest kitchen and fridge are way too small for the number of guests as is 4) the single washer and dryer available to rent - that cannot be used between MN to 8am. 5) In the hotel room, the one small pillow, no air conditioning (coil instead), and no chair. 6) Removal of nut butters from breakfast bar TH-Sun - difficult for a vegan protein source, when removed, but I understand it being a source of allergies.

Amazing position. Near the train, tram and bus station, you can easily reach anywhere you need using public transport and coming back late was not an issue. The staff is young and nice. Also the place was really LGBTQ+ welcoming: rainbows and flags everywhere

There are no windows you can open. Only a giant glass panel through which they can definitely see you from the road, but no way to open it. There is a ventilation system, but overall the room was a little claustrophobic regarding airflow.

The hotel was great and the staff were really nice and helpful. It is located near the train station and near bus and tram station. There were a few restaurants nearby, also a supermarket 10/15min walk away. There are two elevators in the building. Everything was really clean. All guests stored their food in a shared fridge, but everyone had to put their food in a bag and label it. There were washing machine and a drier(paid). And what I find really good, is that even though the train and tram station are really close, there was no noise in the hotel - the soundproof system is great.

The kitchen was well equipped and all the basic products were provided (plus, there were instruction on how to use some of the equipment), but it was quite small and was really hard to cook anything, especially during rush hour. Also, there were quite a lot of people all time, since the hotel is pretty big and busy.

A very friendly and informative reception. A warm and friendly atmosphere. Well positioned building. Access to the centre and Rai, Schipol, all very easy. The breakfast was good, with a decent range of items. Again, friendly staff.

I was unlucky in my room. I had 425d but the 3 siblings in the room already had taken that one, so I had the upper bunk bed. It was comfortable, when I got in and the kids were respectful as they returned later, after I had already retired for the night. I am not holding the hotel responsible and it was a minor thing. One of the drawbacks of being old, I guess! :)

I stayed here for the SKZ concert, and everything was perfect! Very convenient to get to Johan Cruyff Arena. The hostel is big, yet it feels quiet, cozy, and welcoming. A huge thank you to the reception team for taking care and placing me in a room with other Ukrainian girls, it was such a lovely and unexpected surprise. The view from the window was absolutely stunning! I truly enjoyed my stay and will definitely book this hostel again the next time I’m in Amsterdam
