The new owners and Tina, who was our face to face contact, were delightful. The new owners had only been there two days and are excited to update the hotel and pub which I believe they will do brilliantly. We shall return next year with our dog - who was very welcome too!

There was confusion with our booking (not the new owners fault) but the new owners and Tina dealt with the problem elegantly and calmly. The property does need a facelift but I understand this is being addressed urgently and having seen the refurb of one of the rooms, it will be a great, good value pub hotel to stay in. My only suggestion would be that the pub’s outdoor terrace area is closed to public and hotel guests when the pub closes otherwise it is noisy for the guest rooms.

The location of the hotel was great with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby. There is plenty of onsite car parking. I stayed in room 8 which is as a good sized room, clean, comfortable bed. The bath towels are huge. I visited the hotel with my 2 dogs with no extra cost charged. The hotel staff were efficient and helpful. I could not fault the hotel. Great value for money 10/10. It’s not modern or plush but very very comfortable.

The only negative would be the bathroom flooring is not straight and could be a problem for someone who is not good on there feet.

Location perfect for where we wanted to visit. Nice touch to leave us proper glasses and bottle of water. List of cafes and restaurants supplied. Petrol station and shop just across corner. Free parking on site a big plus. Setting just opposite the Newport Canal so nice for a walk in the morning. Friendly host.

A small unit on right hand side of bed with lamp would have been useful. And perhaps thicker curtains or blinds at window to block out night time security light which was right outside our room. A bit noisy from occupants above but didn’t last too long.

The owner's were delightful, very friendly and knowledgeable. The company in the bar were warm, very interesting and helpful and we had a great sing song. The hot toddy of no caffeine coffee with good whisky the second night was magnificent

The room was cold with a draught coming in under the door to our room so I had to put the rug there to reduce it and put our coats over the bedding when we went to bed. Admittedly it was a very cold weather and we had come here for a funeral.The shower was cool and not of great strength.

Despite being a pub, the room was off a courtyard at the back. No noise at all from the pub. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable, The lady on reception was friendly and helpful, The WiFi is free - as is the parking when you stay there, Newport has an attractive High Street with interesting buildings and the pub sits across the road from a canal with ducks and swans, making it an attractive walk if the weather is good. There is also a service station incorporating a Londis just over the road

Could have done with slightly more light in the room and somewhere to hang the lool roll - nothing major.

Beautiful location near the river, a warm cozy room with clean facilities, plenty of outlets for anything you need, and excellent access into the town for anything you would need. We arrived a little earlier than expected, but this wasn’t a problem for the staff, who were happy to accommodate our earlier arrival.

There was a little noise at night from the room above which came from squeaking of the floorboards or beams. Nothing major, and didn’t affect our sleep too much.

The service was excellent and friendly. The room was lovely and clean. They accepted dogs and we had a room that led straight outdoors which was a bonus.

There was no food available which was advertised when booking and we had to go out looking for somewhere to eat which you don't want at the end of a long day's work. The outdoor bar area outside our room reeked of canibis and was noisy until around 10pm. The bed was terrible sat on it and thought i was falling through it, neither of us had much sleep due to the quality of the bed, otherwise was okay.

It was a small, cozy room with a wall heater to warm the room to nice temperature. Plenty of tea making facilities and the shower was hot and perfectly adequate. Bed was spacious albeit a little soft for my taste. Great stop over, thoughtful host provided ear plugs as there was a party at the pub. (Great to hear it was so busy). Parking safe.

Considering the great value, I cannot fault it.

The room was in a good location near to the town centre. Although small, it suited our needs. Staff were friendly and the room was comfortable and clean.

No plug sockets near to the kettle and the mirror for hair drying. No side table and lamp to one side of the bed. Shower head was cracked so water spurted out the top (it has originally been taped up). Temperature difficult to control/adjust
