Location perfect for where we wanted to visit. Nice touch to leave us proper glasses and bottle of water. List of cafes and restaurants supplied. Petrol station and shop just across corner. Free parking on site a big plus. Setting just opposite the Newport Canal so nice for a walk in the morning. Friendly host.

A small unit on right hand side of bed with lamp would have been useful. And perhaps thicker curtains or blinds at window to block out night time security light which was right outside our room. A bit noisy from occupants above but didn’t last too long.

The owner's were delightful, very friendly and knowledgeable. The company in the bar were warm, very interesting and helpful and we had a great sing song. The hot toddy of no caffeine coffee with good whisky the second night was magnificent

The room was cold with a draught coming in under the door to our room so I had to put the rug there to reduce it and put our coats over the bedding when we went to bed. Admittedly it was a very cold weather and we had come here for a funeral.The shower was cool and not of great strength.

Despite being a pub, the room was off a courtyard at the back. No noise at all from the pub. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable, The lady on reception was friendly and helpful, The WiFi is free - as is the parking when you stay there, Newport has an attractive High Street with interesting buildings and the pub sits across the road from a canal with ducks and swans, making it an attractive walk if the weather is good. There is also a service station incorporating a Londis just over the road

Could have done with slightly more light in the room and somewhere to hang the lool roll - nothing major.

The service was excellent and friendly. The room was lovely and clean. They accepted dogs and we had a room that led straight outdoors which was a bonus.

There was no food available which was advertised when booking and we had to go out looking for somewhere to eat which you don't want at the end of a long day's work. The outdoor bar area outside our room reeked of canibis and was noisy until around 10pm. The bed was terrible sat on it and thought i was falling through it, neither of us had much sleep due to the quality of the bed, otherwise was okay.

Beautiful location near the river, a warm cozy room with clean facilities, plenty of outlets for anything you need, and excellent access into the town for anything you would need. We arrived a little earlier than expected, but this wasn’t a problem for the staff, who were happy to accommodate our earlier arrival.

There was a little noise at night from the room above which came from squeaking of the floorboards or beams. Nothing major, and didn’t affect our sleep too much.

My car broke down en route to the hotel and when I phoned ahead to let them know the owners were simply amazing. They gave me lots of assistance, helped keep me calm (as I was a woman stuck out in the middle of nowhere in the dark), and then gave me a free drink when I finally managed to arrive much later than I had originally planned. They identified a car repair company for me in town so that I was able to go straight there after work the following day to get the car repaired and then drive home. I can't rate the hospitality at this hotel highly enough. Thank you so much Danielle and Edward!

This was the second time I have used the accommodation and the service was still as excellent as last time.The staff are friendly and helpful,location a minute walk into town and also surrounded by many countryside walks,which on one occasion I shared with deer.The rooms are immaculately clean and home from home comfort with a little extra added in.

Not a problem for me, but there is a small courtyard outside where you can sit and have a drink and can get a little lively so bear that in mind.

What a lovely warm welcome. It was lovely to go into somewhere and finally not find anything wrong with a place we stay. The staff were so friendly and the locals great. There was a dolly pardon tribute on whilst we stayed and we had great fun. We had a lovely meal in an Indian restaurant up the road. They didn't mind us bringing food in from takeaways. there was also a pizza van outside serving lovely pizzas.

Very clean and everything needed for a stop over. Room was slightly on the smallish side but suitable for a few nights. Would stay again if in the area. Staff helpful and friendly.

Would have liked a continental breakfast but the hotel don't do any food at all but they're willing for you to take food back to your room. I did know this before I booked so went prepared.

Big bed room, big bathroom. Desk & bedside cabinets, two seats and a tv in room. Wardrobe & hangers, towels, toilet roll, tea & coffee provided. 11am checking out time. Flexibility on checking in time. Parking onsite or very close by. At one end of the main high street so shopping a very short stroll. Will definitely stay again.

There is nothing we didn’t like.
