The SS Bore is a decommissioned cruise ship which can be accessed via a ramp upon arrival. I had a two-person room with a porthole window and a private shower and toilet. The beds are simple with a duvet, a single pillow, and a firm mattress topper. The bathrooms are neat and trim. It was nice to have a private showing area and toilet for a hostel. Breakfast at the weekend was a choice of fresh breads with cheese, meat, vegetables, and egg butter. There is a selection of tea and coffee section and cold water and juice are available. There is also porridge and yoghurt, as well as tinned and fresh fruit. During weekdays, this is more or less the same but with less variety. The staff were friendly.

The ramp leading to the reception is the only way in. I have vertigo and found using the ramp a little tricky. Also, after the rain, the ramp and rail were a little slippery even though the surface of the ramp was rough. There was a ground entrance, but it seemed to be exclusive to the museum. It would be beneficial to use this for future accessibility to the reception, as having a room key is a prerequisite for accessing any rooms. Some parts of the boat were a little tired, old and needed some attention, for example, a broken plastic wall display unit in the corridor near the common room needed removal, and Bore Bear looked like he needed some love, too (maybe propped on a big chair by the restaurant rather than the stairs would be neater).

Absolutely lovely atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was very delicious! The location was excellent, I enjoyed the walk along the riverbank. Very beautiful to visit in the early summer. Great bus connections to the town centre two minutes walk away. They even have an info board at the boat where you can see when the next bus is going. I had a one-person cabin which was brilliant for a solo traveler. Lovely view to the river from the cabin. I had my own shower with plenty of hot water. The morning sauna was a delightful bonus!

There were hardly any trains to Turku harbour. (This was in the summer of 2025) Perhaps that has changed by now? It was a bit hard to find the sauna at first. One morning I could hear the next door neighbors bickering through the cabin wall. Otherwise, no complains. I enjoyed my stay very much.

It was very cool to stay in the ships cabins and use all the original facilities that have been restored beautifully, including the sauna! As the rooms were small ship cabins, I believe they're all fitted out to sleep 2-3 people. So there are no big 8+ person dorms that you have to compete for space and privacy with, also the rooms have their own bathroom and toilet. And as a nice touch, the history book of the boat in the room was very interesting to read!

The ships aircon is quite old, so sometimes it would cut out and get a bit warm. However, the staff did lend out little desk fans that helped the situation.

Excellent staff, lovely cafeteria with a great view from the terrace to the river. The fan included in the price was a wonderful extra since It was a very hot weather.

The air conditioning was poor. In addition it was difficult to find the right entrance to the hostel since the taxi (Bolt) left us to the customs area surrounded by a fence and there were no signs guiding us to the hostel. Thus we ended up to go all around the customs area and walked an extra mile before arriving to the hostel. Luckily there were no trucks around that time entering the ferry since it would have been somewhat dangerous to stray in that area. We laughed a lot though mostly thinking that we ourselves were quite silly straying around like that :D

It is an interesting experience to spend night onboard "classic" steamer 🙂 Cabin was quite small, but everything was clean and well maintained. I really liked the spirit of the place, especially spending evening on the top deck at café with view to the harbor 😉 Everyone was friendly and helpful all the time.

Strictly speaking, it is not a negative thing. Just you need to be aware you're spending a time on a ship in small room with small window. You like it, or you don't.

Great experience - when do you get to sleep in a ship eh :). Breakfast included, affordable single room, and extra option for sauna. It also has basic facilities for food prep ie microwave, dish etc and super market is nearby so pretty handy for budget travel. It is a bit far from the center but if you can use the city scooter, this is a trivial problem to be honest. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The ship vibrates because it is a real ship. If this bothers you then it may be a bit of a problem. WiFi is pretty weak or redundant in the room...the ship is made of steel etc so this is expected I suppose.

One of the most unique experiences I have had in a hotel. Hotel is literally a museum ship. I was skeptical given certain reviews I read but it was an amazing choice. Not far from city center. Not far from restaurants an and cafes. You can walk Along the river and take in the landscape of Turku. There is even an opportunity to visit the ship’s museum portion. This is a “must do” once more. Hotel also has a cafe in the back and breakfast is included in your stay.

The beds were suprisingly very comfortable. There is a slightly noticable moving on board and as a person who enjoys sleeping on boats and ships that made sleep even better! Cabin temperatures were perfect, not cold when rainy outside and not hot during sunny days. Noise isolation was also really good, we werent able to hear other cabins at all to the point that we thought neighboring cabins were empty until we met our neighbors. Inclusion of breakfeast is really nice, selection was not great but still very fulfilling. Staff was always on point to help too!

There was only single electric socket per cabin. So bring an extension cord or power banks for your electronics. Shower was really small but as a reltively small person managable, Taller and larger people might struggle.

The location was just perfect for me as I had a cruise trip from Turku port which was just 10 minutes away from the hotel. The idea of using the ship as a hotel was nice. It was quiet during my stay. The room was small but had everything needed. I loved the view from the terrace of the ship. Staff were nice. Breakfast is a buffet, there is a limited option of food offered but I enjoyed it, especially traditional Finnish pastries. They were yummy.

Guests should make the bed themselves. The second thing I would suggest is to provide two towels instead of one.

I chose this place to get some unique experience - it's the main reason why worth of consideration. I found some joy in exploring the ship as such. Nice surroundings. Breakfasts were ok - many options, nice dining room.

Well, the room was just a small cabin - I knew what I could expect but I was quite shocked seeing I was not able to close the toilet doors because it's been blocked by the bed. Also the bed was not very comfy. There was only one outlet and basically it made it not very comfortable to use the phone while charing
