I chose this hotel for the location (seafront/sea/beach view), the outdoor swimming pool and the interior design of the restaurant. But the STAFF were the key - I dropped my phone and it broke whilst out walking on the South West Coast Path. The staff were fantastic in letting me use the phone etc - especially Colin the Night Porter who was brilliant and took messages. The breakfast was really good too

My only comment would be that the sash windows only open a little bit (about 10cms). There were 2 fans in the room (room 1) but it was very very hot. Either a portable air con unit, cold air fan or being able to open the window fully would be very beneficial

Liked location and out door area.

I know you can’t compare apples to pears. But after coming from stay in Harbour at Salcombe, I felt things were lacking. No one bothered to show us to the room, just told in courtyard upstairs behind bushes. ( no one ride was checking in, so not busy). Plus No welcome letter in room with breakfast times, location etc. Also didn’t quite understand how room availability on B.com but not on official website ? We did have welcome back discount at 30% but couldn’t use it through B.com. Real negative in this weather the courtyard rooms were unbearably hot 🥵 and woken at 5am by bin lorries as had to have windows wide open.

The hotel is lovely and our room was really nice. One member of staff who was working on the front desk on Thursday evening (with the lovely nails!) was great and went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. The breakfast selection was good with lots of choice. They even had vegan chia pudding and alternative milks available without us needing to ask.. We will return and will stay for longer next time.

Most of the other staff we encountered- including at bar and in the restaurant were a bit grumpy and not very friendly. The Thai green curry at the restaurant wasn’t nice.

The continental Breakfast was excellent. There is good choice and the quality of the food was outstanding. Service friendly and efficient. Sidmouth is a lovely seaside resort for a short break, and we loved the hotel...

We stayed in Room 159, described on the Booking.com site as having a courtyard view. It should read, " view over dustbin area to rear of the hotel". My feeling about this were made clear to the hotel. The view from the bedroom was not a major issue to us because we live in Torquay and have a view of the sea all the time from our apartment. If you come from somewhere less attractive then I suggest you try to avoid room 159. The room is otherwise quiet, very clean and luxurious !!

The property was so close to the beach so an excellent location. The hotel was lovely and staff were so friendly and welcoming. The spa facilities were the highlight of the trip.

I thought for the price the bathrooms were a little outdated, especially the shower/shower tray. It didn’t state anywhere on the website when we reserved a table that Sunday roasts were only between certain hours so unfortunately the website let us book for 5pm when the kitchen was closed and wasn’t able to get a roast. That saying the food on the regular menu was lovely as we ate in the restaurant on Friday, we just fancied a roast dinner.

Included breakfast was continental only, but was very extensive and there were lots of options for me, which is rare as continental breakfast can be problematic for those of us with lactose intolerance

I was in a single room which was of perfectly adequate size, but extremely stuffy. The windows were locked to allow only a small aperture and hot pipes under the bathroom floor kept it roasting at all times and I could not get the cold tap to run cols at all. The fan provided was great during the day, but far too noisy at night, so I sweltered.

I liked many things about this hotel. Firstly, the decor is very nice. Our room, although overlooking the car park, had a balcony, which was welcomed on a warm night. The room was large with a massive comfortable bed. Bathroom facilities were excellent. We used the outdoor pool, inside one and the spa facilities, which were not busy. We dined in the evening in a lovely restaurant where our table had a lovely view of the sea, outdoor seating also have the view. Staff were all very nice and welcoming. Overall, we will return. PS. There was a fan in our room.

I liked it all.

Room was lovely with super en-suite and included robes and free gin and tonic! Very nice! We used the spa - small but serviceable pool (nice and warm), large jacuzzi and sauna with free apples on exit which was a nice touch. Lovely situation - right on the sea but a little separate from shops etc so nice and quiet. Very short stroll to cafes and shops and beach. Breakfast was super - loads of choice (best I’ve had as a vegetarian) but we didn’t pay extra for cooked - and there was no need. Lovely breakfast table overlooking garden and views of sea and esplanade. Reception phoned to say I’d left a phone charger in the room and they sent it on to me (I paid the postage).

We had a view of the bins from our window at the back of the property but we hadn’t paid extra for a sea view so…

Beautiful hotel and great location. Stayed 1 night in a courtyard room. Room was spacious, very clean and bed was comfortable. We had complimentary gin in our room, however unless you want to drink neat gin then be prepared to spend £7 on two tonic waters from the mini bar, nice gesture but tonic not included (bring your own, will be a lot cheaper :) Spent 2 hrs in the spa, some areas looking a little tired but other than that it was relaxing. The hotel only offer continental breakfast, for myself this was adequate but my husband did upgrade £10 to have a cooked breakfast. We chose not to eat our evening meal in the hotel so I can not comment on the food served in the evening. The staff are very friendly. Overall a lovely nights stay

The rooms were well proportioned, clean and probably too warm (although it was sunny and the room probably heated up due to the sun). The staff were very helpful. The hotel itself was luxurious and in great repair. It was great to have a Nespresso machine in the room, I don't function until I have had a decent coffee in the morning. The leisure centre had everything we needed to relax, pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room.

The bar closes at 10 - so we missed a night cap before going to bed. The robes in the room (to go down to the leisure centre), would only fit an anorexic midget in my opinion. Parking was a bit hit and miss as to wether you got a space or not (although there is a big longstay car park opposite) The leisure centre could do with an overhaul, the steam room tended to go cold, and generally it needs some TLC in my opinion.
