Perfect central location in Dronfield, with everything I needed within the town being in easy walking distance. Homely pub atmosphere generally, with very well presented rooms upstairs. Single room 5 was compact, but as it’s for sleep and with a comfortable single bed, further space would be surplus to needs. The full English breakfast is exceptional and amongst the best I have eaten- everything freshly cooked and presented with care. Friendly, approachable staff and good beer made it as pleasurable a stay as possible, given the purpose of my visit.
The floorboards at times creaked from movement in adjacent rooms / corridor, during later evening hours, although this wasn’t intrusive, once asleep. It may be noticeable by lighter sleepers, however. It’s a centuries -old building after all, so not a significant issue and part of the character.

Fabulous building, setting, room was comfy and clean with tea , coffee making facilities. I'm 5ft 1" partner 5ft 4" I could touch the ceiling. Dont pick room 7 if your tall lol. Loved everything about and would go back. Staff exceptionally friendly and breakfast was enormous. Only thing was room 7 not en suite. Room key opens bathroom opposite bedroom we were a bit worried but private and not a problem at all. Bathroom spotlessly clean and stocked with loads of towels and toiletries. Yes we would stop again definitely.
Nothing to dislike

nice warm welcome. surprisingly lovely setting and great-looking old building snook away just south of a very built up area of Sheffield. Great pub with friendly staff and locals. Breakfast in the morning was fine and served quickly.
luggage up two flights of stairs was hard work. I don't think there is a lot so could create accessibility issues for some guests. I did think the room rate was a little high but I suspect you pay for the fact it's not a premier inn or travel lodge in the industrial areas. The bathroom was very basic but all was spotlessly clean.

Room was very stylish with en suite bathroom. Staff very helpful. Full English breakfast was really *full* despite there being a power cut at the time. The problem was being resolved by an electrician on site. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the breakfast and, despite eggs missing, it was a very good breakfast but sadly I couldn't finish it due to there being so much of it! Overall I found this hotel stay a very pleasant experience.
I am disabled and use a walking frame so I don't think this hotel is suitable for someone who requires an accessible hotel. However, I was not able to find a hotel any nearer to my home so could not be choosy and didn*t mention accessibility. As the dining area is at the top of around 12 outdoor stairs, a disabled wheelchair-bound person would not be able to access this. I use a walking frame and was helped up and down the stairs by the lovely and very kind Michelle.

We spent the night here just for a break. we had a brilliant time. We booked the suite which was abit expensive but really nice. The staff are really friendly and helpful and everywhere is clean. The breakfast was delicious and really filling.
Just a heads up, the suite is above the bar and faces the main road so it's noisy. We stayed on a Saturday night so you can imagine how lively it was. We had people shouting and singing walking past the room. It must have been 3am before I got to sleep. I did find something strange, someone was singing in the early hours which was coming from below us.

Great welcome on a very snowy night. the hosting was wonderful, and the personal letter on arrival was a nice touch. the room was really clean and fresh and great bedding and comfy bed, so was very happy. everything worked and it felt easy to drive and start and things worked (they dont always in places). Breakfast was incredible, such great quality and value as advertised. fully endorse this. customer service at breakfast also great. really quality establishment and such good value....
nothing it was all perfect for me.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good, cereals and juice available and a huge variety of cooked options, I've stayed twice now and had a different option each time, both really tasty - perfect poached eggs.
2nd time I've stayed in the last month. There is a notice on the shower doors to say that the hot water sometimes can take a couple of minutes to come through and to be patient with the 17th Century building. This time I waited a good 5 /10 minutes and there was no hot water so a wash at the sink as shower was cold.

Breakfast was good and hot and catered well for vegetarians. Room was clean and modern. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Pillows soft and fluffy. Local restaurant was excellent
Layout of the room made for an awkward stay. No bedside table and had to get out of bed to turn out the light. A possible safety issue. Shower cubicle doors didn’t open far enough to make getting in and out comfortable. Accessing the room was difficult for someone with mobility issues - many steps and no lifts

Breakfasts were really lovely. Nice bar area and a sheltered, very welcome beer garden. Great curry house across the road. Availability of iron/board and fan and tea/coffee/biscuits. Great to be able to park safely on site
Rooms were quite hot and although I had the radiator turned off it still remained on, so a bit uncomfortable without the window open. The fan came in very useful. We were out for the full day so didn't bother to report it as the weather was about to turn unpleasant again and future guests may have been grateful of the warmth! The bathroom was a little snug but perfectly functional. Just something to note that if you are on the first floor in a certain room while the pub is still open, you can hear the hand dryers in the toilets below on a regular basis. Nothing mentioned would deter me from staying again though
