The hotel was perfect for 1 night in Caen before we went off to a Wedding. Our room was decorated to a high spec and was very clean. The bed was really comfortable.

Water in the room would have been appreciated as we had to go out at 11pm to find somewhere to buy some. Also coffee machine was mentioned in the facilities but did not mention that this was only available until 10pm in the reception so when we arrived at 11pm reception was closed and we were unable to have a coffee.

Look no further than Hôtel la Fontaine for accomodation in Caen. This is the best hotel in the region and its warmth, friendliness and facilities are top notch. The hotelier Mathieu went above and beyond to make our stay in Caen truly memorable. Bespoke restaurant recommendations, delicious breakfast (not to be missed!), comfortable and modernly furnished rooms and mere seconds from the city’s shops, William the Conqueror’s chateau and mind-blowing churches and monuments. My partner and I simply cannot wait to return and if we didn’t live so far away we would be back in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for our stay and for taking us on a private tour of the landing sites of Normandy as well as sharing with us local knowledge of this wonderful region. We will be back!

Right in the center of Caen, so everything in walking distance. All was very clean. Small rooms but it had everything you needed. You are there to visit Caen and not more than sleeping in the room, so for me and my brother it was perfect. Even though it is right in center of city we did not have any problem sleeping with the window open. Friendly owner and service minded. We highly recommend a stay if you are spending a night or 2 in Caen.

The owner was great. Upgraded us (not at our request) at no extra charge as he had a larger room available. Very friendly. He even helped carry our bags to our room which was very kind of him. Breakfast was simple but excellent. Hotel was incredibly quiet overnight despite it's central city location. Public parking v convenient. Everything was just great. Perfect location for a short city break.

This was a fantastic stay in a great location, where everything is walkable! The rooms were nice and simply, exactly as pictured, but had everything you needed. The staff was friendly and helpful! We opted for the breakfast and it was a nice spread!

When we booked the hotel, we thought that parking was included, however we found out that a parking garage is very close, but not included with your stay, so we had to pay for parking. Not sure if that was not clearly identified on booking or the hotel?

Extremely well-located. It is in the centre of Caen and allows for an easy exploration of the city while allowing for downtime. The breakfast is of a good standard and the staff were extremely helpful.

While I am aware that a lack of cooling options is a standard in European cities, a fan of some sort would've made the stay even more pleasant. This is important when the country is going through a heat wave.

The front desk was super nice, they took their time to have a little chat. It was very pleasant, they also upgraded our room. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms. The hotel was better than some other 'three' star hotels we had on our trip. We definitely recommend staying here. The location is in the center of Caen.

Mathieu was a wonderful host, friendly and accommodating. Knowledgeable and helpful. Good restaurant recommendations. We were on a cycle tour and the storage was excellent. A great city center location but also a quiet area. Good breakfast too. Chic modern decor. A good, and big, bed A real joy all round.

Everything was good-maybe an extra hook or towel rail would have made it even better.

The staff was super helpful and kind. The room was clean, the breakfast was great, especially considering the price. And last but not least the location was excellent.

The sofa bed is not the best. If you use it for a couple nights only, it is ok, but longer than that, don't do it!

A lovely reception from Matthieu & he was so very helpful throughout our stay. Hotel was very clean & although the room was small it was fine for our requirements. Loved the fact that coffee drinks etc were available at any time of day & eve. We will def visit again.
