We like the location, lobby and breakfast, view from the room over the river, we were allowed to leave our bags before checking-in so we could enjoy day of sightseeing, love all the toiletries being from The Ritual brand, which i absolutely love.

Lack of information about how the pool session actually work, only 30 mins per slot. Dirty sauna and pool floor, looked like there was no regular cleanings with yellow hairy water sitting on the bottom of the sauna room, had to come out to ask about towels even though staff member let us in into the pool area. Uncomfortable sofa bed in our room, it was 3 of us, so on of us had to sleep on the sofa, one flat pillow was provided and very uncomfortable click clack sofa to sleep on. No third cup for a hot drink in the room either.

Room was clean and comfortable, with plenty of amenities. Bar and restaurant on site were excellent and the location of the hotel was within walking distance of most of York’s tourist attractions. Reception, restaurant, bar and cleaning staff were very friendly! Good value for money for the room. Car park also had plenty of space and was a lot cheaper than other nearby options by a significant margin. Would certainly consider staying here again if we returned to York.

The room safe did not work upon arrival and despite two requests from reception staff to maintenance, this was never fixed for the duration of our stay meaning valuables could not be safely stored. Our room only had a small window also, meaning it was very difficult to get natural light into the room but this is did not significantly affect our stay. Breakfast was on the expensive side for what was offered.

Fantastic, friendly and helpful staff meant check in and out was problem free. We stored our bags at the hotel before check in and after check out so we could enjoy the city. The town centre was a ten minute walk from the hotel with views of the river and town walls nearby, local pubs and a Wetherspoons within 5 minute walk but a nice quiet location. The room was large and comfortable with large TV, double bed, sturdy sofa bed (just like a bed, no wobbles), secure lift, mini fridge, good sized bathroom and separate toilet. The pool had good facilities and was bookable in 30 minute slots which was easy to do. Nice and refreshing and there was a sauna too. Beautiful lounge to relax in. The breakfast was well laid out, spacious and stress free. Great range of options available including vegan and gluten free. The professionalism of the approachable staff really made this hotel special.

Gorgeous hotel and the family room was fantastic

The hotel is lovely, in a great location, very family friendly. The only problem was that when I arrived at breakfast I was accused of not having paid for breakfast on my booking (which I absolutely had, I paid it upfront on checking in the day before). I was asked to go back to my room to get my phone to show them the transaction on my online banking - I felt like a criminal! Then it was deemed that yes I had paid, but it left me feeling embarrassed and a bit stressed out. I get that you must have chancers trying it on, but please check before making accusations to innocent customers! :(

The location, I was new to the town but managed to get there and back by bus. I am also a nervous traveller but I was able to walk out of the hotel have a fantastic day out , get lost on my way back and still get back safely in the evening. Was amazing .the food at the gourmetbar was a dream the grilled vegetables were incredible 😲, the staff were all very helpful and lovely, I liked the option of the wine in the room good idea. I loved the spa and pool.breakfast had a great selection thank you! I enjoyed my stay so much definitely want to bring my kids with me next time. Also thank you for leaving a york book in the room, it helped me plan my day while I had breakfast excellent idea that! Housekeeping were also excellent. Everything was 10/10 from staff.

My time was too short. The TV wasn't always working. A lot of channels but couldn't access them or they didn't work, would have liked the option even to pay to unlock the channels for the evening. There was a carpet stain on the floor which ruined the look of the otherwise super comfy clean relaxing queen room. Didn't like that I had to get out of the toilet put the light on in bathroom with dirty hands to be able to wash hands in the bathroom, felt it was unhygienic. The layout was a bit weird. I don't like sleeping between 2 single beds together I somehow always end up feeling the gap.

We had an amazing experience. The staff were incredibly friendly, offering us a warm and kind welcome right from the start. Check-in was quick and seamless, making us feel immediately at ease. Our room was lovely and spacious, providing the perfect environment for relaxation. The entire stay was topped off with an easy and efficient check-out process. We truly enjoyed every moment and can’t wait to return!

There was truly nothing we didn’t like during our stay at the hotel. From the moment we arrived until the very end, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the entire experience was seamless. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and have no complaints whatsoever!

The location is on a cal de sac housing estate new builds , a few streets away from the Barbican center where I was going to The decor in the hotel is really lovely very spacious seating area around the bar The dinning and breakfast room is massive with different sections for each thing good selection of cereals fruits ect It hAd a mini fridge for the milk cartons in a base unit and safe in the room which was a surprise The English breakfast had a good selection too

The curtains showed some of the light through the pelmet and edges areas which did disturb my sleep a little bit The toilet was separate and near the hotel door so more further to go to it The USB port in the headboard didn't charge my phone used another socket but it only charged my phone by 28% after being on charge for over a hour Price of drinks was quite more expensive a pint of Stella was £7.50 Gin & lemonade was £6.50 They do offer a happy hour in the day time for £4.50 The English breakfast look good but was only warm due to been stored in stoneware pans with lids and not a ban marire heat lamp style The standard bread was ok the butter squares were too hard and broke the bread when trying to spread it

The location was excellent for us and the staff were very helpful

The lighting was terrible! In the room, there was no central light and the side lights were too dim. We ate dinner in the restaurant and, once again, the lighting was too dim. I could hardly see my food! It is SO frustrating when the lighting is so poor that you need a torch to read the menu. Also, the room was not warm enough for me and I could not make the air conditioner move to a higher temperature. Next morning, I raised this with the receptionist, who told me that the air con was centrally controlled at an optimum temperature (which, clearly, was not high enough for me). I think that this is very poor customer service, as I should have been able to control my own room temperature!

We had a fabulous stay. The bed was super comfortable, the pool and sauna were nice, it was clean and everything we needed was there. Also the staff were friendly and helpful. Great proximity to both station and city centre. Highly recommend and would stay again.

The only niggle was that it was freezing weather and we couldn't seen to get the thermostat in our room to heat up, so we were a bit cold in the room for a while . In the end we rang reception, and they had to actually turn it the heating on. We felt in such cold weather it should have been on as a matter of course, which would have saved us being cold until we could solve the puzzle, so to speak. But otherwise the hotel was 100%.

Location, pool & ambience

The room’s air conditioning control was none responsive & blowing cold. I hadn’t realised this when I first went to the room. We dropped our bags and headed out, a nice sunny afternoon. When we got back from an evening meal. The room was freezing, in winter evenings are cold in the Uk. Brrr. 2 trips to reception was required to find out why and to get some heat in the room. Turns out the room’s unit was locked & set to cold. Why? Eventually warm air started to arrive and the room heated up as we slept. When we woke in the morning the room was nice and cosy. Too hot for my daughter though who said she had trouble sleeping with the heat. Unfortunately the control functionality became responsive while we were a sleep.
