Excellent breakfast (free) and great evening meal and drinks (great value and service). Very nice and safe room with good AC and everything else that you need, Great info from servers and office staff. I highly recommend the float trip on a raft (you will paddle some) with Canoa Aventura Tour Operators. Excellent bilingual drivers and guides including a complimentary coffee and chocolate presentation at the end with drinks.

La Fortuna streets and traffic are tough to deal with.

Breakfast was superb and healthy fresh food served with lot of options. The staff at the breakfast table & for optional dining served in Bamboo restaurant were very friendly and caring. The upper floor room had a panoramic view of the Arenal Volcano mountain from the balcony. The room was spacious and had a pleasant decor. The location of the hotel was convenient and in downtown central area of La Fortuna. The hotel wifi / internet speed was good and secure.

We had to take up our luggage by stairs to our upper floor room as no lifts were available. Also, there was no telephone or intercom in the room. No electric kettle or microwave oven was available in the room which was expected for similar standard hotels. No free bottled drinking water or tea was available in the room. The WC flush was not working properly.

A great first stop on our Costa Rican vacation. Our room was spacious and clean with a great view of the Arenal volcano from our balcony. The included breakfast had a nice selection and was yummy each morning. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to numerous restaurants, shops, and activities. Our favorite thing about this hotel was all the wildlife we saw on its grounds. From numerous types of birds, a sloth, and iguanas, it was a new animal every day. One of the restaurant's waiters (the younger one) kindly helped point out the sloth and a few other animals that were hard to spot. Another bonus was the AC in the room and the mini fridge! I will happily stay here again if I ever return to La Fortuna!

No big complaints. Our biggest issue was with the free Wi-Fi which was unreliable and only worked intermittently. Additionally, one of the main male waiters at the restaurant was a bit crabby, and we often felt bad for asking for extra things like butter or other things.

Amazing stay at Monte real! The staff were very kind and helpful. Facilities were great. Bed was nice and extremely big and fluffy pillows. Best shower I had the whole time in costa rica. walking distance to everything. Best part was all the wildlife we saw around the hotel. there were two sloths in the trees over the river, river otters catching fish, so many birds. We saw more animals around the hotel than we did on tours. 10/10 recommend

The hotel is just a short walk from the town centre and all the restaurants and shops. It is set in neat grounds and has a lovely restaurant beside a river (where we watched 2 otters fishing for ages one morning as well as two species of Kingfisher fishing). There was a sloth in the trees at the edge of the hotel too and a huge iguana. The staff were all delightful and very helpful. Whatever time of day we saw them they smiled and they work very hard indeed to ensure everyone is looked after. The frog garden is a bonus and so is the lovely clean pool. The room was spotless and very comfortable.

We could fault nothing and would happily stay there again.

Nice Hotel, the Staff was amazing - the reception, the restaurant service and the housekeeping! We saw different animals every morning (sloth, otters, various birds) and the staff showed and explained them to us. The breakfast was really nice and the pool as well as the hotel very well maintained.

There were some works taking place, but the workers tried to do their work without disturbances for the guests.

I liked everything about this place! It had a great location just on the edge of town so it was nice and quiet, but only a 5 minute walk to get to the centre of La Fortuna. The staff were wonderful! Everyone was friendly, helpful and informative. They helped me with tours and taxis and even organised a smart TV for my room so I could watch Netflix in the evening. There is a good laundry service too. My room was kept immaculately clean by the great housekeeping staff and had everything I needed including the most wonderful view of Arenal volcano. I had a fridge, coffee maker, balcony, smart TV as mentioned earlier, aircon, decent bathroom and great wifi. Breakfast was included and it was lovely sitting in the restaurant beside the river each morning and getting to see and meet some of the other guests. There was also a lot of wildlife near the property - I saw a sloth, various iguanas, a Jesus Christ lizard, and a variety of birds plus I could hear toucans.

I liked everything about this property. It was my favourite place to stay in my 3 month trip around Costa Rica and I liked it even better than a very high end hotel I stayed in.

Great location. They have a river behind the hotel that you can watch while eating breakfast and there were otters playing in the river. The breakfast was really good and the staff were super helpful and nice. Also there’s a great Argentine empanada place just across the street.

Seemed a little expensive, but for the most part matched the prices around town for similar properties

The setting was so beautiful with the pool area, animals and restaurant. We really enjoyed our stay. The location was great and easy to walk around town from the hotel. The staff were fantastic helping with tours especially Jonnanthan who assisted me a lot before we arrived

Is conveniently located to everything you might need. Their concierge service was second to none. They will help you arrange tours and transportation. Also an onsite restaurant and plenty of tropical flora.

Tv was slightly difficult to navigate but Daniel the manager solved that problem.
