Loved it here! Breakfast was great and loved when the fed the birds in the morning. It was a meal with a show. So many amazing colorful birds. The location is great. It's an easy walk into town, but far enough from the center that it's not too loud. Our rooms were comfortable. They aren't super modern, but were good. The pool was very refreshing and generally we didn't have difficulty finding a place to relax by the pool. The staff were all very helpful and kind. We were very lucky that 3 of the 4 days we were there, we could see the arenal volcano. The first day it was completely covered with clouds, but it eventually came out! Great view from the pool

Our stay here was even better than expected! The entire experience exceeded our hopes, starting with the excellent food, the location, the outside area . the garden is full of hummingbirds 😊 What truly stood out was the cleanliness of the place. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained throughout our stay. A big thank you to the ladies who cleaned the rooms — they were kind, efficient, and always had a smile on their faces. Their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. A special mention must go to Fabricio at reception, who was without a doubt the best receptionist we've ever met. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of, helping with everything from local tips to making sure our needs were met. His professionalism and friendliness truly made a difference. We would gladly return and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great stay!

There is literally nothing to say.

This hotel is located just a couple of short blocks from restaurants, shops, a supermarket, etc. but is tucked away at the end of the street so it’s very quiet. The surrounding grounds/gardens are very nice and full of birds (and even a couple of resident sloths while we were there!) Breakfast every morning in the hotel restaurant was tasty and we enjoyed watching the birds eating the fresh fruit put out for them by the staff. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Fabricio! We notified the hotel that we would arrive a day late for our reservation due a flight cancellation and Fabricio took the initiative and made the extra effort to “re-sell” our room for the first night so we didn’t need to pay for our lost night. Thank-you!

Our stay at Hotel Secreto was perfect! The grounds are beautifully landscaped, room was clean and comfortable. Location couldn't be better, walking distance to town center yet just off the beaten path, quiet and peaceful. The entire staff is outstanding, friendly and helpful. They notified us that we had accidentally left our Kindle behind, and put a lot of effort into finding a way to get it to us as we traveled through the country the next few days. Highly recommend staying there!

Bathroom mirror could be a bit lower, but I'm short! No worries, I used the full length mirror to get ready for the day

STAFF is super kind. Speaks English. Always smiling. Check in was fast. Fredricko was super kind and very helpful this morning. I have two reservations at Radisson Inn for April 6 and April 7 th. Both already paid for. I got an e mail saying my reservation for the 6 th is canceled. I NEVER CANCELED THIS RESERVATION. NEVER. MY BP SHOT UP. I AM A HEART ATTACK PATIENT. Someone almost gave me another heart attack. Frederick called the hotel in San Jose and told them so. I think he talked with Kimberly. I am thankful to him . Very happy with my stay Decided to stay another night. It tells you every thing, Beautiful garden indeed . Luv and blessings

No negative. I told the kitchen staff to heat the oil WELL before cooking platano . It SOAKS oil if it is not very hot. They were VERY RECEPTIVE to my recommendation. Thanks

This was great value for a shoulder season price. The property has a charm to it that is unique to itself. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating to provide service and information. I was in need of laundry service which was fabulous affordable and fast. The location to Arenal is great if you get the chance to see the volcano emerge from the clouds you can catch the best view from the pool.

The sound proofing between rooms is nonexistent so if you are a light sleeper and or a noisy person checks-in next to you this is not a place for you. The gentleman in the next room was quite sick during the first two days of my stay and I felt as if he was in my room coughing. The property overall is quiet which helps however any noise is quite noticeable.

The property was beautiful. We loved the included breakfast and the staff were very friendly and helpful, evening providing umbrellas on a rainy evening. The location is great for walking around downtown.

The wifi in our room was pretty horrible. Our room was on the outer edge of the property so that may be why. I got great wifi while at the pool and other areas of the property. My other complaint is very minor, there weren't enough outlets in the room for charging electronics. I had to charge my phone and watch in the bathroom while my husband charged his in the bedroom. There weren't any outlets that are within reaching distance of the bed.

The front desk staff that checked us in were noce, very helpful, pretty good English, but we did try to speak Spanish when we could. Decent, clean, basic rooms, nice bathroom & shower. Not plush, but if you want decent on a budget - it's perfect. Hotel breakfasts were a highlight - we picked the local option with eggs, beans and rice and plantains- but they had sausage & pancakes options too. They were able to book a couple of tours for us too - all good experiences. We booked the Coffee & Chocolate tour they recommended - amazing, hilarious and fun. Would stay again.

Beds were a little basic - not very plush but did the job.

The rooms at Hotel El Secreto in La Fortuna are located in the middle of a beautiful garden and - when the weather is nice - you have a direct view of the El Arenal volcano. Our room was very spacious, clean and well equipped. As it rained quite a bit, the air conditioning was very useful, otherwise our clothes would never have dried. The pool and sun loungers were perfect for relaxing after an excursion. For breakfast you could choose between three options, which were good and sufficient. During breakfast you could watch the birds in the garden.The center is within 5 minutes walking distance. A sloth can often be found in the tree next to the entrance, which is of course very exciting.

A few options for storing or hanging garments would be very useful.

Overall great stay!! From the central location and ease of getting to/from, to the delicate welcoming touches from the staff I really enjoyed my stay. Each morning sitting on the balcony or going downstairs for a delicious coffee from the speciality shop attached it was so so perfect! My room was clean and spacious. I’d come back for sure! Thank you!

It’s a bit loud at night but as advertised! They do provide earplugs but if you’re a light sleeper might not be for you. It was worth it to me though!
