Wonderful room. Comfortable. Great location - rural and quiet Very well presented, clean and room had great amenities Really liked that there were proper mugs in the room - not those silly little cups that most accommodation provide!!!

Some staff are a little too relaxed, if that's the right word or maybe not fully considerate of their actions? Allowing dogs to run though the restaurant during breakfast, is that ok? Checkout by 11am - but using the pub as a dog grooming salon before that time, surprised customers were still there at 10.30 - was not a good look. I actually have a fear of some dogs - but luckily this particular dog had not caused me concern

Nice sized rooms, clean and well appointed. Lovely welcome pack, and they gave us some milk for the room when we checked in (mini drinks fridge available to put it in). Rooms had hot chocolate and tea and coffee. Had a good dinner (Sunday roasts!) in the pub, which had good ambience and was quiet enough to eat dinner and make conversation. Didn’t book breakfast which we’d forgotten and was a bit confusing in the morning but then were able to pay a very reasonable price for hot breakfast! Thanks

Quite a bit of sound travelled between the two rooms (could hear people walking/moving/snoring above!) but it’s an old building so not entirely unexpected.

Form the moment i arrived I loved this place.. The garden lights the location being so secluded.. The greeting I received when I walked in was so friendly and they couldn't help me enough. Showed me to my room too. In the morning I was given some free fruit as I had to leave early and was not able to have breakfast because of my early checkout but again this was a lovely touch of perfect service. The room was spacious and amazingly comfortable.. Maintained to a very high standard and really clean. Absolutely stunning. Price wise.. Again amazing.. 45 quid for the night which for this standard and luxury is unheard of.

There was nothing about this place that in disliked.

We were visiting for a local anual craft fair and this is the best place that we have stayed so far. Great value for money and really warm and welcoming. The food is great. The room was really nice, comfortable and clean with everything you could need and more. We would definitly stay again.

We were in a ground floor room and we could hear the people above us moving around. It was quite loud. It wasn't voices or TV just foot steps through the old ceilings/floor. It didn't ruin the stay but was the only noteable negative and we did think that we would rather stay upstairs next time.

Easy access for onward motorway travel. Lots of parking. Dog friendly with beds, treats etc provided. Good size bedroom and bathroom with nice decor and coffee machine. Fan was useful in hot weather. Cooked breakfast was tasty and quick service.

Shame about fake flowers on breakfast table. Tiny pastries at breakfast that didn’t look very appetising. Yogurts not topped up so ran out with lots of people still left to eat. Only one choice of cereal, which was stuck to the container so clearly old.

It was perfect for our stay, ample size car park too which is great . On entering it felt cosy and welcoming and the staff were all so lovely and happy. We had room 2 on the ground floor which ticked all the boxes, plenty of space. A mini fridge with milk and water was appreciated . Plenty of fresh clean towels - comfy bed. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal and breakfast when we left

Nothing - except the noisy guy in the room next door who had a very loud voice while using his phone - this is not a dislike of the property just a general comment of our experience

Fantastic management staff, we felt really at home and were made to feel very welcomed from the moment we arrived. We ate in the pub on the first night and had breakfast both mornings and the food was lovely. Breakfast in particular was very good. The rooms (we booked Kings) were all very nice with massive beds. The bathroom was a little small in our room but that was the only minor issue. The family room on the ground floor was the best room. Location is rural but only a 10 minute drive into Newbury

Check in was easy, Staff were friendly. Food was really good and plenty of it. At first you think it is a bit run down but after staying for 3 days , you realise that the difference between the old and the new is part of the charm, would come again. There was also a superb modern fan in the bedroom and the bed was really comfortable. Also there was plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Only about 20mins from Oxford Park and Ride.

I loved the bed, the fridge in the room, very good shower. The shabby chic style was fabulous. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was exceptional.

Not enough staff on the night I arrived. Had to wait a while for my key after a long trip. My personal room was very dark due to one small window which could have been accommodated with brighter lighting. I wear glasses and are of an older clientele therefore good lighting for hair and makeup is important.

Peaceful location and good for walking the dog. Breakfast was very good. We had the full English and it was very nice. Breakfast staff were extremely pleasant. Dog friendly, though there is a £20 charge.

Bathroom was a bit grubby in areas - shower tiles- and a couple of parts of the room could do with a spruce up (something had been filled in to the side of the wardrobe and not re-painted). A bowl, bed and gift box supplied for dogs, but like most dog owners we always travel with everything our dog needs. Would prefer to pay less and to do without the doggy extras, which were not used.
