Excellent service and location - v friendly helpful staff and delicious breakfast- Fantastic all round thank you so much- lovely immaculately clean room with comfy beds - bathroom functional but a little small - fab bar below issues which dont happen too often obviously x

Our room was at the top and in the eaves so it was v hot as it was exceptional hot in Scarbados during our stay- we had a fan provided and a opening window which helped but only light venetian blinds which didn't keep out the heat/sun - black out blinds would be better esp to keep out the light and a chance to open the velux window in the bathroom would of been very useful as that was like a sauna as soon as when we entered our room initially & opened the bathroom door the heat hit us as it was like a sauna and made the room even hotter - we had to put the light on to get the ventilation fan to help remove the heat 🥵 unfortunately can't help the rare heatwave but if they are to continue a few changes may help 😀

The room size was incredible! Really nice to have a sofa to sit on, and the fridge was much appreciated too :D Parking was fairly easy + breakfast was delicious (and generously sized) each morning! The choice available on the breakfast menu was brilliant!! The location was also perfect for us, as we adore the Italian Gardens + South Bay in general. The steep walk uphill back from town is more than worth it! Check-in was smooth, overall a wonderful experience, and we'd absolutely book again. We've stayed in a few different places in Scarborough over the years, some have changed owners, others have just been unavailable for the dates we've been after, but this has been our favourite so far! We hope to return :D

There was nothing we didn't like!

Breakfast and food quality are excellent. Staff are very helpful and attentive. Check-in/ check-out process simple. Good little bed and breakfast overall. Highly recommended. Guest book offers lots of useful information on taxis, food,pubs etc. It would be a 10/10 if parking was free close by.

Parking is a bit of a pain. the local council enforces parking permits. There is free parking around 5-10 minutes walk away or 24-hour parking for £7.20 a little closer. The seafront is a few minutes' walk, but the main centre and harbour is a good 15-20 minutes. It is very hilly, be warned if you are not able bodied. No Uber in Scarborough, taxis are quite expensive and take 15 minutes to arrive off-peak.

The property is v well situated for enjoying the quieter end of South bay with paths leading down to the Italian gardens and on down to the Spa. The property itself was really well maintained and immaculately clean, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, generous portions with several choices and the staff were lovely - particularly Claire the manager who shared with us some of the history of the place going back to when it was owned by Joseph Rowntree as a holiday home. The 2 dining rooms are lovely, light and airy with beautiful coving, big bay windows and a nice quirky touch to the decor whilst playing homage to the age of the property. The dining rooms are also from 9am till 2pm I believe open as a cafe to the general public which seems a good use of the resources and does not detract at all from the experience of staying there.

Nothing much not to like - there was no living room area - just the 2 dining rooms including the cafe set off to either side of the hall although during our stay the weather was really good so wouldn’t have used anyway. The bedroom we had - no 6 - was quite small - I think there are larger rooms available - we booked fairly last minute- but was v comfortable and clean. The en-suite bathroom was also quite small but extremely clean and more than adequate.

Had a lovely stay at Rowntree Lodge. The owner was a lovely lady, and all the staff were all so very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Our room was massive with a big super king bed, which was way too comfortable. Breakfast – wow, outstanding. I opted for the full English each morning, and it was perfect. In walking distance to the centre and just a road down, there is a cable car, which, if you do not want to walk to the sea front, is massive help. Rowntree Ledge is presented very well and immaculately clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional Service at Rowntree Lodge – A Truly Outstanding Experience We recently booked a stay at Rowntree Lodge in Scarborough and while we can’t review the hotel itself, we must highlight the absolutely outstanding service we received. Upon arrival, we were unexpectedly upgraded to their luxury apartments in Derwent House and what a fantastic surprise it was! The team at Rowntree Lodge went above and beyond to ensure our stay was special. Their generosity and attention to detail were second to none, making us feel incredibly valued as guests. The apartment at Derwent House was nothing short of excellent – beautifully furnished, spacious and equipped with everything we could possibly need for a perfect getaway. We are truly grateful for this wonderful experience and cannot recommend Rowntree Lodge highly enough. If you’re looking for exceptional hospitality in Scarborough, look no further. The Rowntree Lodge is extremely great value for money. The hotel is in a good location with sea views. Our room was upgraded, which was a lovely surprise, and I have to say, pleasantly surprised at that. The room was very large, with a lounge area and lovely comfy bed, the bathroom was a very good size and what's more the whole room, basically the whole hotel was so clean, which helps make you feel just much more positive about a place. I'd say it was the cleanest hotel we've stayed in, in Scarborough. And last but not least, the staff are all very friendly and make you feel very welcome. Thank you to all involved.

We had a twin room on the top floor and it was very spacious. It was clean and quiet. Comfortable beds. The location was perfect for us, going to an event at the Spa. Also the waterfront is in good walking distance and as well for the walking trail along the coast. Check in via lockbox. Parking was possible on the street. We got great instructions. Thank you

We haven't really met our host, stayed 3 nights, but arrived late. During the day the busy café downstairs is running and we chose not to have breakfast. The room wasn't serviced during our stay, so we asked the cleaner in the hallway for more coffee and milk a couple of times. Some hooks and maybe a mat by the door for jackets and dirty shoes would be handy. No complaints really. We enjoyed the stay.

Lovely, bright and spacious room. Large, comfortable bed. Delicious cooked breakfast. Friendly staff. Housekeeping staff did a great job keeping my room clean every day. Great location near the sea in a peaceful residential area. Good communication with the landlady throughout my stay. I felt very welcome and made to feel at home.

The soundproofing to the hallway was not great, but I could live with this. It would be nice to have the breakfast available from an earlier time. Otherwise I was very happy with my stay.

Really good central location; free car parking; spacious and clean room; and delicious breakfast! We left during the day and returned and didn't struggle to get parked on either occasion. You can easily walk to the sea-front from the hotel in less than 5 minutes.

We happened to visit on a REALLY hot day so it was obviously very warm indoors. There was a small fan in the room but no air-con, which we weren't expecting so that didn't bother us too much. A small fridge would also be nice (our chocolate melted haha). These are very much non-issues though, it would've been the same temperature if we were at home, everything else was perfect!
