Excellent service and location - v friendly helpful staff and delicious breakfast- Fantastic all round thank you so much- lovely immaculately clean room with comfy beds - bathroom functional but a little small - fab bar below issues which dont happen too often obviously x

Our room was at the top and in the eaves so it was v hot as it was exceptional hot in Scarbados during our stay- we had a fan provided and a opening window which helped but only light venetian blinds which didn't keep out the heat/sun - black out blinds would be better esp to keep out the light and a chance to open the velux window in the bathroom would of been very useful as that was like a sauna as soon as when we entered our room initially & opened the bathroom door the heat hit us as it was like a sauna and made the room even hotter - we had to put the light on to get the ventilation fan to help remove the heat 🥵 unfortunately can't help the rare heatwave but if they are to continue a few changes may help 😀

Exceptional Service at Rowntree Lodge – A Truly Outstanding Experience We recently booked a stay at Rowntree Lodge in Scarborough and while we can’t review the hotel itself, we must highlight the absolutely outstanding service we received. Upon arrival, we were unexpectedly upgraded to their luxury apartments in Derwent House and what a fantastic surprise it was! The team at Rowntree Lodge went above and beyond to ensure our stay was special. Their generosity and attention to detail were second to none, making us feel incredibly valued as guests. The apartment at Derwent House was nothing short of excellent – beautifully furnished, spacious and equipped with everything we could possibly need for a perfect getaway. We are truly grateful for this wonderful experience and cannot recommend Rowntree Lodge highly enough. If you’re looking for exceptional hospitality in Scarborough, look no further. The Rowntree Lodge is extremely great value for money. The hotel is in a good location with sea views. Our room was upgraded, which was a lovely surprise, and I have to say, pleasantly surprised at that. The room was very large, with a lounge area and lovely comfy bed, the bathroom was a very good size and what's more the whole room, basically the whole hotel was so clean, which helps make you feel just much more positive about a place. I'd say it was the cleanest hotel we've stayed in, in Scarborough. And last but not least, the staff are all very friendly and make you feel very welcome. Thank you to all involved.

We had a twin room on the top floor and it was very spacious. It was clean and quiet. Comfortable beds. The location was perfect for us, going to an event at the Spa. Also the waterfront is in good walking distance and as well for the walking trail along the coast. Check in via lockbox. Parking was possible on the street. We got great instructions. Thank you

We haven't really met our host, stayed 3 nights, but arrived late. During the day the busy café downstairs is running and we chose not to have breakfast. The room wasn't serviced during our stay, so we asked the cleaner in the hallway for more coffee and milk a couple of times. Some hooks and maybe a mat by the door for jackets and dirty shoes would be handy. No complaints really. We enjoyed the stay.

Lovely, bright and spacious room. Large, comfortable bed. Delicious cooked breakfast. Friendly staff. Housekeeping staff did a great job keeping my room clean every day. Great location near the sea in a peaceful residential area. Good communication with the landlady throughout my stay. I felt very welcome and made to feel at home.

The soundproofing to the hallway was not great, but I could live with this. It would be nice to have the breakfast available from an earlier time. Otherwise I was very happy with my stay.

Really good central location; free car parking; spacious and clean room; and delicious breakfast! We left during the day and returned and didn't struggle to get parked on either occasion. You can easily walk to the sea-front from the hotel in less than 5 minutes.

We happened to visit on a REALLY hot day so it was obviously very warm indoors. There was a small fan in the room but no air-con, which we weren't expecting so that didn't bother us too much. A small fridge would also be nice (our chocolate melted haha). These are very much non-issues though, it would've been the same temperature if we were at home, everything else was perfect!

The hotel was spotlessly clean, beautiful pictures everywhere. Lovely clean deep soft plain carpets. Claire the owner greeted us on arrival and showed us to our room. Also gave us parking disc,s but we parked a few streets up so didn't need them. It was also lovely and quiet even though there was plenty of guests. Never once heard a banging door or noise from anyone else which was lovely. Plenty of choice for breakfast and served within minutes. Lovely serving staff too. Also very spacious rooms. Only 3 floors too so not like climbing a mountain to get there. Also an amazing amount of plug sockets in room which you never see. You also just cross the road and walk down a little street that takes you to the sea front where you have a lovely walk into the main part of Scarborough.

Although our room was spacious, we were on the 3rd floor which is the last floor. was still lovely but far too hot. It was beautiful weather which won't of helped. They provide fans in each room which is also great. Just a little spoiler as couldn't sleep for heat. Otherwise all round fantastic!. When i booked it did say on booking.Com that we booked a room with sea view. But it wasn't. You can't see the sea from the hotel. Just a heads up on that for anyone who likes a sea view.

We picked this as it's just a 3-minute walk to the top of the Cliff Lift (funicular) down to the Spa, where we went for a 2-day festival. This was ideal for my partner's accessibility needs. The greeting was friendly, the room nice and big, with a super comfy king size bed (so wish I had a lie-in but we were so busy!), everything clean, decent selection of tea/coffee/biscuit refreshments in our room, good TV, plenty of wardrobe space if you need it, a desk and Wi-Fi (just as well because my partner needed to work on her laptop on what was meant to be a holiday!), and even a sofa with coffee table. Also, while we did not avail ourselves of the actual hotel breakfast, the cafe (basically the same place) did a really good omelette and avocado toast that me and my partner had respectively. On a food note, Ramshill Fisheries just round the corner has to be one of the best chippies in the country (everything's cooked in beef fat - oh lawdy!)

The rooms (or at least ours) are big, and there's only a plug-in heater (as far as I saw) so I expect winter visitors might get a bit chilly! The windows are old sash windows which do bang a bit when it's windy.

There was only 1 sugar-free cereal, Weetabix, which I don't like. Instead I had 2 different cooked breakfasts and they were both very good. The location was very good, with a short walk into the town or down to the beach. The room was spacious and clean, and the carpets all looked and felt clean and quite new. The staff were friendly and efficient.

You will have to move the car as there's time-limited disc parking in the vicinity. The bathroom is quite small, with a weak shower and not much room to hang the towels or put your washbasin or your toiletries etc. My main dislike was the fact that there's no socket anywhere near the dressing table, so we had to keep moving the heavy mirror over to the drawer unit the TV sits on (after moving the TV out of the way) and then plug the hairdryer or straighteners into the long extension lead used by the TV as it was also far, far away from the nearest plug socket and also the aerial socket. The room was obviously planned with the furniture being placed differently, and it doesn't really work in this format.

Great hosts, very clean room and well decorated, super breakfast and a fantastic location. Will definitely return. Can tell it was independent and family run, the extra attention to detail and personal service was five star.

One small thing, three choices of cereal but all had nuts so unable to have cereal as have a nut allergy. Waitress apologised for no alternative. More than made up for by an excellent cooked breakfast and the pleasant young lady looking after us.
