We spent two weeks at Lac Hotel. Maria and her staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. They ensured that we were comfortable and shared their local knowledge. The view from our lakeside room was incredible. The delicious breakfast buffet included many options from cereal and bacon and eggs through to cold meats, cheese, fruit and pastries. All fresh and well presented. The location is close to public transport and a short trip to Lugano, Bellinzona and many other beautiful and interesting villages and mountains. It's easy to get around on public transport, at no cost, with a Ticino card. We would love to stay at Lac Hotel again and have recommended it highly to our family and friends. Exceptional hotel right in front of a gorgeous lake. You can have a swim and then enjoy a delicious dinner right there right then. Everyone working in Lac Hotel is lovely and passionate about great service, rooms are nice clean, what’s not to love? ;)

This is a very special hotel hovering above the lakeside. Location is fabulous, restaurant is perfect, breakfasts were great, staff did their absolute best to attempt to understand English and were very happy to perform charades with us so that communicating was never an issue. We booked the ‘lake views’ room which had a gorgeous balcony. A few quirks (truly not negatives) were that the balcony is ‘shared’ with the other rooms facing the lake. Although a bit of a surprise at first we ended up enjoying the odd wave, smile, good morning vibe. And our room was very small. Yet thanks to the lovely balcony and incredible views the size of the room did not once bother us as we spent all our time either on the balcony, walking the area, on their free paddle boards on the lake, etc. Highly recommend visiting Lugano (short train ride away). It’s a city with incredible history, cobblestone lanes, shopping, waterfront promenade and park. And in the opposite direction - Morcote. The map says it’s a longer walk to the village from the hotel than it is. And the walk is super visual. The village by the water is adorable. The walk up to the church is fab (take water if it’s a warm day!), and the lunch as our reward for walking too far up the hill was superb. We absolutely loved our stay at Lac. There is a wonderful energy to the place, location and the warm staff. 11/10 for a truly enjoyable stay. Thank you!

Loved everything!

The breakfast was good, offering a lot of choices: cheeses, smoke saumon, sausage and scrambled egg, fresh fruits. Location is good in the sense that it is by the lake. Bed was very comfortable. AC was working well. Restaurant is very good, with seats right by the water. The hôtel employees were all very friendly and accommodating. The hotel parking has limited spaces but is on the premise and secured.

There was no shampoo/body location and Kleenex tissue. The elevator is the smallest I have ever used (good only for one person plus one piece of small luggages) which might be problematic for a senior person or someone with large sized luggage.

For us, the location was excellent as we were passing Lake Laguna on our way to Turin. Breakfast was standard standard continental, but with hot bacon, sausage and egg available too. The standout point for us, however, was the staff, particularly the receptionist when we checked in! I think his name was Vincenzo and he was super helpful! Gave us plenty of local information, including bus routes and timetable, even printing us off free bus / train tickets so we could get out and about. I do hope we pass that way in the future as we would definitely stay there again! Great value for money too, especially as the place was right in the edge of the lake.

Perhaps speed of service at the restaurant in the evening, but food itself was fantastic!

This hotel spells hospitality with a capital H! Today is my birthday. Yesterday, we checked in. We were tired and I really needed a coffee. We finished the check-in and the friendly owner served us two cappuccinos for free. We also got a free room upgrade. He also must have taken note of the date on my ID. This morning at breakfast, the server brought me a tasty piece of Schwarzwälder cake with a lit birthday candle and wished me a happy birthday 🎈. Those little things. That's hospitality. Mille grazie! In other things, the view is exceptional, the hotel staff kind, good breakfast. Please take note, the hotel writes in the description that there is a small lift. They do mean it. The lift will take two suitcases or two average sized people but not both. We've had an excellent stay and will happily return!

Driving in to Melide from the French alps didn't make it look promising as a place to stay for the three days that we had booked. But looks can be deceptive and it turned out to be a really wonderful location for exploring Lake Lugano and the surrounds. The hotel and restaurant were lovely and the view over the lake was beautiful from the room. The room was spacious, clean and well laid out and breakfast was really good. The train station was an easy walk from the hotel and the Ticino ticket gives free train transport, so visiting Lugano was very easy and definitely worth doing. We can really recommend the funicular from Paradiso to San Salvatore (with the walk back down to Melide being an unexpected bonus). The cogwheel train trip to Monte Generoso was an unexpected delight and we would have loved to walk from there back to Bellavista, but unfortunately didn't have the time. Also stopping off at the Cala Melide after our various trips was a real delight, really friendly service, good wine and beer, great Pinsa and a fabulous view!

The hotel was a very pleasant find. A wonderful Boutique hotel. The room was excellent with an amazing view and very nicely presented. Hotel staff were super friendly and helpful, considering we were staying in the town due to an unexpected interruption in our travels. But the Restaurant was really 5 Star. Staff, food, and setting were such a pleasure. I can't recommend it enough.

The town of Melide itself, needs some loving! But access to the lake is very easy and lake swimming in Switzerland is so wonderful. The hotel has private access and there is an empty public beach a few meters away.

We had a fantastic stay! The location is perfect, and the staff was very welcoming. The breakfasts were delicious, and to our delight, we were upgraded to a room with a stunning lake view at no extra cost. The front desk even provided us with complimentary tickets for the regional train and bus, making it incredibly easy to get around. Though the parking area is small, we had no trouble parking our car and used the train for all our travel. It was convenient and fast—an overall wonderful experience!

Continues to be great quality accommodation overlooking lake Lugano. Always very comfortable rooms, quiet and well soundproofed, very safe, very clean, lots of facilities, excellent wifi, superb breakfast (& coffee!) and above all excellent hosts. With a special mention to Maria who is the beating heart of Lac Hotel. She is always incredibly helpful , kind and we always enjoy our stays with them, many thanks as always!
