It is very close to the port, Como Nord Lago train station and the Brunate funicolare. We booked the room with the private bathroom as this property also has rooms with shared bathrooms too. The staff were helpful. You can find loads of restaurants close by. For my muslim friends there are 2 halaal restaurants very close to this property.

The Hotel is within 400 metres of the Como Lago rail station, and a 100 metres from the main Bus station. It is also close to the Ferry boat station with lots of restaurants very nearby. My room, was extremely clean, and very quiet with a decent size wardrobe and enough clothes hangers as well as coffee making facilities. The staff were very friendly and looked after my luggage outside of checking in and out times.

I think the only thing that I found a little annoying was the bathroom light was on a movement timer, which meant you had to jig about to turn the light back on when it turned itself off.

Perfect central location with many retsaurants, bars and lake right at the doorstep. Very clean, warm and cosy rooms with comfortable beds. Fantastic lady at the reception - very helpful & accommodating. Our room had a view of the lake.

Bathroom has a noisy fan that turns on every time you switch the light on, so in the middle of the night it almost wakes you up :) The owner refused to turn on the air-conditioners because 'the summer season has finished'. We didn't need them during our stay but the actual reason was rather strange. First night was bucketing down with rain, but there were no umbrellas to borrow at the reception. The price of the apartment (2 rooms for 4 ppl) was a little high for the overall quality of the accommodation.

It was a two minute walk to Lake Como. Carmelo, who managed the Reception, was an absolute delight. He was so kind and helpful. The room was very clean and fresh and we had air-conditioning, as well as an overhead fan. There is secure parking available, which you do have to pay for, but it is inexpensive. It’s a great benefit, as parking is not easily available in Como.

There is no lift and our room was on the third floor. The stairs were steep and two flights per floor. I transferred some belongings into a bag and left my suitcase in the car, which made it easier. The hotel is quite dated, but the room was fresh and clean and it had air-conditioning.

lovely rooms in the best location. easy to get in and out and bags can be left there pre/ post check out which is always helpful. wifi worked great too.

Shower door were translucent so a tad see through but fine if you hang your towel over (it doesn’t get wet we tried it)

We loved that the staff / owner was very nice and always asking if we needed something different and if we needed help. They even gave us one of the best rooms (also because the hotel was empty which is perfectly normal as we went in the winter i.e. no tourists). They gave us some snacks in the room, tea, and also soluble coffee! The room was also very warm, clean, and comfortable even if it was small. It was better than expected. Another point is that they let us check in 1h before.

Unfortunately the only negative point is that there was never a person in the reception. We even had to do some type of self check out because we had to run to the train and no one was in the reception (when it says the opening hours are 8-10am...). Please make sure that at least your contact / phone numbers work. We called both and one was off and no one picked up the other...

Location location location - perfect👌. I enjoyed my stay at In Riva Al Lago. The staff were most friendly and helpful. My room was large and ensuite adequate.

In Riva Al Lago exceeded expectations in every way. From beginning to end it was just a pleasure. The owner welcomed us warmly and set the tone for an excellent stay.What a pleasure! Mario handled our check-in very professionally (and was always available to answer questions, give recommendations and assist where possible.) I immediately felt like a valued guest. The room was exactly as on the photos. It is extremely clean and looks out over the bustling street. The bed is comfortable and the on shared bathroom large enough with good water pressure in the shower. What more can you want? The area is safe and central. Exploring the city and the whole of the Lake Como region is exceedingly easy with the nearby Ferry stops, Main train station and bus stops. The area also has all the shops and amenities, with everything you might need, for an extended stay. Do yourself a favour and eat at the restaurant attached to the accommodation. The food is fantastic! I was sorry to leave this wonderful property and would be happy to recommend the In Riva Al Lago to anyone looking forward to an unforgettable yet affordable stay in Como.

The hotel is a little hard to find and access by car. Parking in Como and around the inn also proved challenging. The staff however was fantastic and clearly doing their best to help and assist us in many ways. The hotel staff was also particularly nice, from the kind owner doing backflips to help us plan ferry ride and find parking (a nightmare here!), or the absolutely wonderful receptionist giving recommendations. Even the maid stopped what she was doing to help me carry wine boxes and suitcases up 3 floors. The PEOPLE made this stay enjoyable! Air conditioning was appreciated and room was very clean.

I wish I had a bigger or second blanket. Just one fitted sheet and flat sheet on bed.

Great location, right in Como San Giovanni in a quiet side street. Just a few mins walking to the ferry terminal and city center. Main bus stop just 1 minute walk away. Comfortable bed, big bathroom. Room had a fan but no air condition.

Can't recommend the restaurant attached to the hotel. Bad service, incredible long wait for the food and quality was not great either. However you get a 10% discount when you have booked a room there.
